I am studying land surveying and cartography and I am doing my final project. I am trying to make a google earth like map in Flash.I already have the map , in the form of swf files.
are there any Flash/Flex API for Google Earth like the Map API? i haven't seen an API in Google earth API official page. or is there any way to use all the features of its javascript API with actionscript/flex.
i have successfully integrated Google earth with Flex using ExternalInterface.call("javascriptMethodName") method and writing the javascript stuff in the html file which embeds the swf file. it ran and loaded Google earth successfully.
This website does an awesome job of controlling pan and zoom for the main movie:[URL].. What I want to do is something similar but also allow for the user to click and drag the larger picture.
I am starting a project in which I hope to create a web application with similar elements to Google Maps, such as zooming, panning, displaying tiles, etc. The idea would be for it to have a very fluid and dynamic feel. Some possibilities that I have encountered are:
-Flash
-Silverlight
-HTML5
-Google Web Toolkit
-Javascript/jQuery
Being proficient in C# and .net, I feel that Silverlight may be the easiest for me to work with. I am worried however with regards to the penetration of Silverlight (this is a consumer-facing application). I am not asking to implement Google Maps into my web application. Rather I am attempting to create a new similar website (not mapping, but similar concepts).
I'm writing a ticket-shop-system atm for reserving tickets for various concerts. What I have is a php-backend and a webpage that shows a .swf with some actionsscript-3 code in it, to draw in flash some sort of map and make available seats clickable for the end-user.The problem with this solution is, that there are quite large halls and just making the seats smaller isn't the right solution.
I want to make a *.SWF in which the user inserts an address in the first frame, then in the second frame Google Maps shows that place. The problem is that I don't know how to zoom on a point without LatLng parameter. Probably, Geocoding would be the solution, but as I said earlier, I don't understand how it works in Flash. Could someone please either post a few lines or direct me to an example of geocoding in Flash?
I have a batch of high definition images, and I want to make use of technologies like google maps to view the images, user can use zoom pan to zoom in and out quickly without downloading the whole big picture file(they only need to download the viewport of the big image). How can I do this?
How do I create a progress bar on top of google map in flex/as3? I tried to ask google maps API for flash, but no answer... May be some of you have done this already.
I've created a world map in flash and I want to code an ActionScript so that if I click on a country the map, it should zoom into it and show some information beside the country.
I dont know how to start it. A sample could be better.
Please let me know if you know any good step by step turial site.
Find the pic here for reference : ASIA
I have added the ASIA part which i have created. When i click on India, it should zoom into it.
I have to create an image zoom and pan. The problem is that I have to set some boundaries for my pan to stop when the image is finished. Here is my source code.
I'm working on a project, written in AS3. I'm using the Google Maps API to load different maps, add custom markers, ... All that works, but I'd like to create something different. Imagine it being an application to create an itinerary. There are 10 markers on my map, and the user could click all of them to create an itinerary between those markers. I've tried with Polyline, but that only creates lines from one point to the other without following the actual roads. Then I've found out about the existence of "Directions" and "Route" in the Google Maps API, but I can't wrap my head around that. Or I'm doing something really wrong. Also, that is for one point to the other - mine needs to have multiple waypoints. I've found dozens of examples on how to do it with JavaScript, but the project HAS to be made in AS3. (Yeah, ... I know) If there's anyone who could give me a push in the right direction,
Has anyone created a custom map chart of the world using Flash 8? I read in few places that its possible with a component but cannot seem to find the right one.
I need to create a custom heat map (map chart) which is based on the global map, and shows the performance all of the world's unemployment rate. Some alike this interactive swine flu map
However this is a map software but I need a component so to integrate the map inside my own flash application, is there a Flash 8 component which made it easier to create such map?
I am trying to improve the quality of the slideshow displayed on this website[url]... My knowledge of flash is pretty limited. I know how to create the slideshow, I'm just not sure how to maximize the quality and keep the file small. The original was created as a .wmv and then converted to .flv. I have heard that creating the slideshow in flash using vector images is the way to get the best quality. So, my questions are:
1. How do I convert a jpeg to a vector image? Can I do this in photoshop?
2. How do I convert the .swf file to .flv without losing quality?
how to create zoom and pan controls in Flash -- I'd like to create controls with functionality similar to that you see in Google Maps, GigaPan.org, etc. Does anyone have suggestions for where I might find a tutorial or instructions for how to create these controls using ActionScript? I browsed some threads in this forum on zoom and pan controls, but I'm not seeing anything that really explains how to write the code.
When using map3d, the default marker creation is always perpendicular to the viewport. How can I create a marker that lays down flat against the map? I can't use GroundOverlay because it becomes overly tiny when the map is zoomed out. How can I create a matrix3d object that will rotate/scale/skew my Marker's foreground DisplayObject so it remains flat against the map when in perspective mode?
I have to create a marker with 3 triangles at 120 degrees with each other. The fill colour of the three triangles will be different (to be decided depending upon the value of some other variable).
Google Maps can accept DisplayObjects as markers. How do I go about creating one manually?
Basically at my school we are doing a project that allows you to walk around the school like you can on "Google Street View". Me being a geek, the teacher asked me to make a prototype using my house to see if this idea would work. So today I went on Flash and made two working Flash/SWF files, one being a "Google Street View"type of thing of my upstairs and one of my downstairs of my house. I made two SWFs because at school there are many different people working on the project so there will be many different SWFs to combine.
So after making the two SWFs (the upstairs one called Untitled-2 and the downstairs called downstairs) I tried to merge them together. Each one of the SWFs have action script on these" Arrows" that allows you to guide around my house. The action script on all the arrows is:
on (Release) { gotoAndStop(Frame Number); }
I made a new Flash Document and one the first scene I had a Button That Said "Begin". Once Pressed, it takes you to scene 2. On scene two I went to File > Import > Import to Library and Selected Untitled-2.swf. Untitled-2.swf was then in my library. I clicked and dragged it into the stage of Scene 2 and in the timeline only 1 keyframe pooped up. I thought it would work so I previewed the Flash Movie. The Begin Button show up, and when I clicked it preview file Flashed each Keyframe in Untitled-2.swf even though the first frame in Untitled-2.swf has the action script: stop(); The whole thing is uncontrollable and I dont know what to do. I hope you understood what I wrote (Im not the best with spelling and grammar). So in a nut shell, how can I combine 2 SWF files In Flash, whilst maintaining all the action script in each file.
I'm developing a web app using Flex. This app allows to draw forms in a Canvas (like MSPaint in Windows). Now, I want a new feature on it: an infinite canvas. The user should be able to drag the main Canvas and this should be infinite in X and Y axis. Consecuently, this Canvas should be resized in real time.
Obviously, I don't want to create a Canvas of 1k x 1k pixels with zoom in an specific area to give the feeling of an infinite drawing area.
EDIT:I just read that Flash/Flex Flash/Air supports canvases up to 4056x4056 px, not infinite.
How can I display alternate HTML with the jquery.swfobject plugin for browsers without Flash? I'm unable to find any documentation or examples showing how to do this.
I've looked high and low for an answer to this and I'm hoping someone has an answer, or at least a tip on how to avoid it.I'm loading a static HTML file into a container via the jQuery load() method. This static HTML file has a script which loads a swf. When I load that particular file, I get the white screen of death (WSOD) and the page explodes and everyone in the room dies a horrible death.I've had this happen also when using the jQuery wrap methods (wrap, wrapOuter, etc.) when a swf is present. It seems manipulating the DOM with a container that has a swf object causes this. Does anyone have a solution or a way that I can prevent it happening?
