But I need my video in DIV2 to STOP PLAYING when it's hidden, and start from the beginning when you show it again. From what I read, I need to remove it from the DOM...but I don't understand how to re-add it. I've seen suggestions for detach(); but can't figure out where my AppendTo() would go.
I have a flash file that is in a div that is hidden when the page is loaded with the css property display:none. The div with the flash content is then shown at a later stage through javascript.
When will the flash file load? Ideally, I only want it to load when the div is shown.
I'm using jQuery Autocomplete just as in this example: [URL] The problem is, the area where you see the Result box in that example - that's where my flash object is. So, when the autocomplete dropdown appears, most of the text is concealed by the flash object (which I can't move). How can I make the autocomplete text appear over the flash object (concealing its view rather than vice versa)?
How can I display alternate HTML with the jquery.swfobject plugin for browsers without Flash? I'm unable to find any documentation or examples showing how to do this.
I have a html/flash site now, [URL]. i access email from my site itself by giving the userid and pwd text box which i copied from the actual website hosting my email access. i copied the entire <form...></form> tag to my page and thus was able to put the name and pwd in my home page only and access the email in a separate window. now i have redesigned my webpage using only flash. i would like to know how i can implement the same using flash. as i have not much experience using action scripting i am a bit stuck about how you pass the hidden form variables. the below is the the exact form syntax:
On my homepage, when I enter, I want only the flash to appear first while the rest of the content is being loaded in the background. Once the flash has loaded, display it for 5 seconds then fade out to reveal the content. Is this possible with jQuery?
I'm having issues with a YouTube video breaking a jQuery slider when viewed on an Apple mobile device. The slider uses a set width & height window that uses the overflow:hidden property. It looks great in all browsers except for Apple devices where all of the slides are visible in a row as if the overflow:hidden property did not take effect.
I've looked high and low for an answer to this and I'm hoping someone has an answer, or at least a tip on how to avoid it.I'm loading a static HTML file into a container via the jQuery load() method. This static HTML file has a script which loads a swf. When I load that particular file, I get the white screen of death (WSOD) and the page explodes and everyone in the room dies a horrible death.I've had this happen also when using the jQuery wrap methods (wrap, wrapOuter, etc.) when a swf is present. It seems manipulating the DOM with a container that has a swf object causes this. Does anyone have a solution or a way that I can prevent it happening?
I'm setting up a page that uses a flash menu to load html pages into a div container by the following call:
on (release){ getURL("javascript:getPage('test.html')"); }
The loading works fine, but some of my pages had specific jquery scripts and that's where I've struck out so far. I assumed all I needed to do was transfer the script importations, css stylesheets and the jquery functions to my main document, but it won't work.
I also tried importing the html as a the complete html, which works on it's own, but not when imported into the main document. Most recently I heard I should try shifting the jquery function calls to the end of the loaded document, to after the content, My scripts work, just not when imported, so I suppose my question is how can I make the main- and imported documents play nice with each other? What say you we make this a jump-start tutorial for all us noobs to reference?
I have researched the infamous 'Flash hogging keyboard focus' issue, but I believe our issue may involve a workaround that someone else has already come across. I've tried the various solutions I've found on stackoverflow and other sites, which I summarize below. We have a web app, and a particular interface loads several divs that we are using as "tabs". When a user clicks one of the tabs, we hide the current div and un-hide the new one. Our main tab (which is loaded when the page loads) embeds a document from Scribd, which is loaded as a Flash movie. When a user clicks on the Flash movie, they scroll with the mouse/keyboard like normal, and when they click outside of the document control returns as expected. When they navigate to another tab and then return to the original tab and click on the embedded Flash to navigate within it, the embedded Flash steals control of the mouse scroll and won't let it go. The user can click in this document and scroll with the arrow keys and then click out of the document and scroll the parent window with the arrow keys, but mouse scrolling is still bound to the embedded Flash movie. The only remedy is a hard page refresh.[code]This doesn't work -- I can confirm that the element is removed from the DOM, but when it is returned to the DOM it hogs mouse scrolling when clicked just like before.I also tried a similar solution, but instead of removing the element I called [code]
I am currently working on a website, where my client asked me to place a Banner which expands on Mouse Over. Similar to this website [URL]. When we hover on LondonTown.com Banner it just expands and show rest of the Ad.
I have a very complex social networking system built using the Adobe Flex SDK. Since we are experiencing certain performance issues, I want to move it to a "light-weight" platform, the backend is PHP so its just the UI.
What are my other options if I don't want to use Silverlight ?
I was told I could use AJAX/jQuery, which I am not familiar with - are there any GUI designers available ?What kind of GUI designer can I use to design my UI ?
I'll explain my scenario. I want to play a small sound at certain situation, so I would prefer initiating the play via jQuery. Also, I wish to make a toggle button for the sound. So, the user could turn ON/OFF the sound. So, I'm thinking about creating the toggle button and function for playing the sound inside the Flash. But I don't how to call this function (that I have written in Actionscript, which will start playing the sound) via jQuery ! Do you have some ideas ? I haven't done creating the Flash document, but bookmarked some tutorials and will start playing with it soon. :) The reason for choosing Flash is that it would be crossbrowser compatible.
the thing i'm searching for my site is something that can show, and after 10 seconds, hide some html.Exactly is for a games site. I want to show ads during 10 seconds, and after this time, load the .SWF file of the game.During 10 seconds i want to show the window of the ad in the center of the field where later the game will be displayed. It's like a 700x500px window. One of the problems is that the ad window maybe 300x200px and i want to put it in the center. It's like i want to make a scene of 10 seconds with tha ad showing like the game is loading.I beg you to answer in a begginer level, i'm not expert in scripts, just know some html, that's why i'm a bit overwhelmed with the info i found in the net.
I'm working on a website which has advert banners which link to external pages.I've recently added the ability to have flash banners, but am stuck on how to make the banners link without editing the flash file.
The idea is that clients wanting to advertise on the site send a flash advert which is then linked to their site through the CMS, however unless the client embeds the link into the flash file, or add a flashvar parameter which can then pull in the info from the database, the flash banner doesn't link as it's seems not to link being surrounded by an <a> tag.
This is probably a well known thing, but this is my first time doing flash adverts, so I'm coming to it from a completely novice position. Is this something than anyone creating a flash advert would know about and instinctively do or will it need to be instructed to the client before hand, or is there a way to get it to be a link through html?
The thing is that once uploaded in DART, my ad is not transparent so we always see the white screen where the ad expands.I know this problem is normally solved with wmode=transparent but the thing is that the person can't have an html code to put the wmode code.I wonder how I can set my flash banner to be transparent without html codes..Using Flash CS4 with ACS2! Here's the fla file : http:[url]......
I purchased a flash website template and am in the process of editing my main.fla file. In order to get listed on an advertising website with a higher rating, I have to place a reciprocal link to them on my site. However, I cannot figure out how to place an html link/banner on my site for other businesses. If I paste the html code in a text box, all that shows up is the html code rather than the image and link it is meant to generate.
I have a site I have created for a client which features a flash header image, the only problem is he accessed a draft of the site on his iPhone and was put off by the fact it didn't display any of the head image as it was an iPhone (which as we know are not flash happy!). Also, I would need this anyway incase the visitor has flash turned off or uninstalled (I have provided the usual 'install flash' link when flash isn't displayed). Is there a way I can do this with just HTML/CSS or will I have to use JS or something similar?I have tried adding tags but this does nothing.
<div id="container"> <div id="header"><a href="index.html"><img src="images/logo.jpg" width="214" height="50" alt="Tom Frost - Personel Trainer in Leeds, West Yorkshire" style="border:none;"/></a></div>[code].........
Is there a cross-browser solution available to give a flash banner an html link, without putting it into the flash itself? (i.e. the Flash has no clickable button in it). I tried giving the surrounding anchor tag a high z-index, but that did not work. I'm using the standard google swfobject to include the flash banner, but am not stuck on using that.
The website I am designing is a single-page site which scrolls using jquery to anchor points on the page (instead of having separate html pages for each section) The intro section has a flash banner which alternates images of different sections of the site. I have used the following code to get these images to link to the relevant page section

why the buttons in the flash banner I created in Flash CS4 work when I preview it in either Flash or HTML in the Flash CS4 program, but when I go to load it into a html document in Dreamweaver CS4 and preview it in a firefox or IE browser, the banner comes up fine, but the buttons this time will not work. The buttons are displayed with there animation and sound, but the links will not work. I have tried scripts in AS2 and AS3.
I am a web designer and I do like to hand code using jquery however, I think it would be much faster to use gui applications like flash to create animations especially on the fly as well as support for writing and editing source code.
