I have a flash file that is in a div that is hidden when the page is loaded with the css property display:none. The div with the flash content is then shown at a later stage through javascript.
When will the flash file load? Ideally, I only want it to load when the div is shown.
I'm using jwplayer in html tabs in IE with jqery showing and hiding them (via style:hidden;) When I hide a tab in IE and then show it again the plays video area goes blank (you can still hear sound and play/pause the video). Does anyone know why this is happening or have a way to fix it.

But I need my video in DIV2 to STOP PLAYING when it's hidden, and start from the beginning when you show it again. From what I read, I need to remove it from the DOM...but I don't understand how to re-add it. I've seen suggestions for detach(); but can't figure out where my AppendTo() would go.
I have a textbox on asp.net webform, which shows the jQuery datepicker on click. There is also a flash banner on my page.
My problem is that the datepicker is appears hidden behind the flash banner, and I need it to appear on top of the banner.
I'm using jQuery Autocomplete just as in this example: [URL] The problem is, the area where you see the Result box in that example - that's where my flash object is. So, when the autocomplete dropdown appears, most of the text is concealed by the flash object (which I can't move). How can I make the autocomplete text appear over the flash object (concealing its view rather than vice versa)?

The slider uses a set width & height window that uses the overflow:hidden property. It looks great in all browsers except for Apple devices where all of the slides are visible in a row as if the overflow:hidden property did not take effect.

I have researched the infamous 'Flash hogging keyboard focus' issue, but I believe our issue may involve a workaround that someone else has already come across. I've tried the various solutions I've found on stackoverflow and other sites, which I summarize below.We have a web app, and a particular interface loads several divs that we are using as "tabs". When a user clicks one of the tabs, we hide the current div and un-hide the new one. Our main tab (which is loaded when the page loads) embeds a document from Scribd, which is loaded as a Flash movie. When a user clicks on the Flash movie, they scroll with the mouse/keyboard like normal, and when they click outside of the document control returns as expected.When they navigate to another tab and then return to the original tab and click on the embedded Flash to navigate within it, the embedded Flash steals control of the mouse scroll and won't let it go. The user can click in this document and scroll with the arrow keys and then click out of the document and scroll the parent window with the arrow keys, but mouse scrolling is still bound to the embedded Flash movie. The only remedy is a hard page refresh.[code]This doesn't work -- I can confirm that the element is removed from the DOM, but when it is returned to the DOM it hogs mouse scrolling when clicked just like before.I also tried a similar solution, but instead of removing the element I called [code]

This static HTML file has a script which loads a swf. When I load that particular file, I get the white screen of death (WSOD) and the page explodes and everyone in the room dies a horrible death.I've had this happen also when using the jQuery wrap methods (wrap, wrapOuter, etc.) when a swf is present.It seems manipulating the DOM with a container that has a swf object causes this. Does anyone have a solution or a way that I can prevent it happening?
View 1 RepliesAn IE issue has me completely stumped. I have a coldfusion page that uses JQuery's AJAX .load function to load in a new flash file that is generated by coldFusion's cfchart tag. This works completely fine in firefox: the new flash file and new html elements load. However in IE: all of the html elements that are geneated with the flash object are loaded, except the flash object and embed tags do not show up at all after running an ajax call in IE. After looking in Fiddler, the flash application type response data doesnt even show up for IE. It does however for Firefox.I thought maybe it has to do with any kind of media, so i changed the chart type to output as a jpg file instead of flash. And it loads completely fine in IE. So something is preventing IE from receiving the flash response data.Here's what i've done so far - and no luck so far:

View 1 RepliesI have a piece of jQuery that requests a file (using .load() method) with some HTML and an embedded Flash video player. IE7 doesn't seem to load the Flash video player, but it does load all the HTML and applies proper CSS to the elements. It works at least on FF3.6.6. I've tried both static embedding [1] and SWFObject [2]. I've also tried several different Flash video players and neither works. Both of the flash players load just fine if I don't request them with AJAX. Now is this is even possible? Are there any tricks to make this work? Or do I have to implement another way for IE?[1]:

I'm using the HTML5 JW Player. It sizes the HTML5 video correctly, but shrinks the Flash fallback player; here's an example page: Test Page
If you view that page in IE, you'll notice that on panel 5, the video is smaller than the space it's supposed to occupy. On Firefox, it works fine because it's using the OGG video in its HTML5 video player.Is there a way to resize the Flash video via JavaScript/jQuery to fit the same space as the HTML5 video?
After working for a prolonged time on a programming problem, I start to get coding tunnel vision. It makes it harder to draw back and look at the problem from farther away. Hence my question: I am using a Drupal 6 site. When a menu option is clicked, the page opens and a Flash SWF file needs to played in a ThickBox. After 8 seconds, that Thickbox closes.
Opening the SWF file in the Thickbox when a link is clicked is no problem, just like closing the Thickbox afterwards; that's basic javascript. For that I use these:

But opening the Thickbox on load? I can add a link for the user to click, but it should open automatically. I figured out the PHP to have it only open on one specific page. From the Thickbox manual, I learned to open links to images - but not how to open it when the page loads.
Im trying to build a site where the images are load in via AS. The problem I'm running into is that the image that is loading from outside of the swf file is now covering my hot spot( buttons). How do I make it so that the load in image will always show up under the hot spots ( buttons)?

The flash content is coming from our Advertisement Manager, which stupidly enough, doesn't allow direct editing of the HTML, as to add the required wmode attributed into the specific tags...
I'm setting up a page that uses a flash menu to load html pages into a div container by the following call:

The loading works fine, but some of my pages had specific jquery scripts and that's where I've struck out so far. I assumed all I needed to do was transfer the script importations, css stylesheets and the jquery functions to my main document, but it won't work.
I also tried importing the html as a the complete html, which works on it's own, but not when imported into the main document. Most recently I heard I should try shifting the jquery function calls to the end of the loaded document, to after the content, My scripts work, just not when imported, so I suppose my question is how can I make the main- and imported documents play nice with each other? What say you we make this a jump-start tutorial for all us noobs to reference?

In the First File:
- I draw a shape;
- I convert it to a MovieClip;
- I link a MyClip class with a simple trace in the constructor;
- I export the whole file as MyClip.SWC;
In the Second File:
- I go to Edit > Preferences > ActionScript > ActionScript 3 settings and I add
-in the Library Path- the file MyClip.SWC;
- on the first frame of this swf I write var myClip:MyClip = new MyClip(); addChild(myClip);
I don't know what I'm doing wrong but when I compile (export swf) the class gets loaded (I see the trace in the output window) BUT I can't see the graphics associated to MyClip. It seems MyClip.SWC only contains the code of that clip.
I have a movieclip AAA(W:550xH:1200) placed on the stage (W:550xH:400). Inside of the movieclip, there are many other moveclips. I like to implement this result: When I scroll(Y-axis) the movieclip AAA to a position, the moveclips inside of AAA will fade in, and the other movieclips out side of the stage will fade out.
View 4 RepliesI'm working on a flash website which is published as a 100% x100% with no scale but I want to add a menu wich has to been shown always at the left of the screen. At home I've got a resolution of 1024x768 but on my work 1920 x 1200. In both cases I like to see the menu in left. Because i like to design some sort of paper strips wich are only visible for like a bit. On a mouseover it will be totally visible. Do I need to add some actionscript with a screensize detection and then some code with _y _x and stuff to place it or do I need to change the settings for the html publish? View 5 RepliesI have several jpg files in small sizes inside a photogallery in my Flash presentation and wish to have them displayed - if required - individually outside of Flash as well, i.e. when people will click on a particular jpg, a new Tab will open and a full size jpg will be streamed there, no matter how large in size, no matter whether small or large in screen dimensions, etc. The user will remain inside my Flash program and continue looking through other jpgs. I want it to start out with 0 alpha and i want it to fade in to 100 alpha. However, I want to do this using Actionscript while I'm EASING the movie clip. I'm trying to NOT use the timeline and do automated tweens for this function. If I combine them, it compliles but the output gets all messed up.
2) The quality of the text shown as the movie clip is not the same as how it looks in FLASH. I jacked up the quality of the output to 100% and it's still the same. any reason why?

View 3 RepliesThis is a custom flash template I downloaded, when you watch/use the template you can see about me, and all the text in it, however when I attempt to edit it to my specs, I see the frame where it is located, but I cannot edit any text, because I can't SEE any text!!So basically, in editing mode, I don't see any text to edit, but when using the template, I see a lot of info... I have no idea what to do, and please keep in mind I am in no means a professional, or even intermediately good with Flash...
