Flash :: Some Videos Not Playing Through YouTube API
Jan 31, 2011I have a Flash based application that loads youtube videos using the YouTube API. Recently some videos that have previously played have stopped playing. When I click through to the YouTube site using the embedded Youtube link there is no indication as to why they should not play, for example removed content, not embeddable etc. Have there been any recent changes to youtube API that would result in this behaviour. It seems random to me and I cant find any pattern, or reason why this should be.

Aug 17, 2011I'm building a site that needs to work both online (served in a browser using http://), and offline (served in a browser using file:///). The site is using basic HTML, but needs to be able to play FLV or MP4 videos. There are many video players that work online, but getting a player to work on the users machine is more problematic. Every one I have tried either doesn't work or shows a message about adding the flash movie to my trusted files in flash player.[code]Has anybody experienced a similar problem? Does anybody have a suggestion for alternatives that may work.

Apr 24, 2010On my website, I want my user to be able to launch video 2 at any point in the middle of video 1 without waiting or refreshing the window. How can I buffer the two videos such that I buffer video 1 enough to let it start playing, and then buffer just enough of video 2 that if the user launches it at any point, he does not have to wait to view its first few seconds, and then I can come back and buffer the rest of video 1? If this is not possible, I could also look at buffering video 1 and 2 in parallel while playing only video 1.

I've heard of the popular flash player called flowplayer, but I have a bad feeling such a player will not work on the ipad and other devices which do not support flash. Is there a way to play a video in the flash format through a non-flash player so that the content can be viewed on all devices?

Feb 6, 2012so encore has the 'export to flash" feature. it seems like it might be a good way to go for me becasue it prodcces a flash player with all my chapter markers in place. i have a couple questions though
1. it is limited to 1280X720 - i would have to do custom flash development to overcome that?
2. how is the resulting videos that are called by the flashdvd.swf served? i mean if i have 1-2GB of video clips are they served one at a time when called by the player?
3. is there any way to get the flashdvd.swf to fallback on iOS and maintain all the funtionality ?

This works well for the first few videos but after 5 or 6 unload/load cycles, the player gets slower and slower and eventually stops responding. I thought the basic idea of unloadMovieNum was to remove a movie from the stage and reclaim the memory but this doesn't seem to be the case.

Jul 13, 2010After I updated Adobe flash player I noticed that videos I streamed did not play correctly.A video will begin to play but part way through it will freeze. It will indicate that it is buffering but it never finishes buffering and never continues to play, even if I refresh it.This occurs for several sites such as youtube, megavideo, and wisevid. This occurs for every browser I have tried (Firefox, IE, and Opera.) I also realized today that now iTunes cannot not download video either. When I try it says that parts of the files seem to be corrupted. I have uninstalled and reinstalled flash several times but that has not helped. I am using Adobe 10.1 (under version test it says it is WIN 10,1,53,64) and I have Windows 7

Sep 17, 2011Has anyone seen a Flash video player out there that will load and play two videos at the same time, such as for comparing videos? A potential client is looking for something along the lines of this. I've not been able to locate anything out there,and I'm wondering if there's a usability reason for this...Obviously, you wouldn't want the audio playing for both at the same time, and the bandwidth issue for something like this might be a concern too. My feeling is that you wouldn't want to restrict a user to just playing both videos at once, but give them the option to play them separately or at the same time, with controls for each audio and playback.

Apr 20, 2010I created 5 swfs (simple animations) and want to "somehow" thread them together to play one after the other inside the timeline of a new Flash Document. I was hoping to import each swf, have "movie 1" play, stop, have "movie 2" play, stop and so on until the 5th "movie plays out then stops (no looping necessary).
I've been playing with timeline actions for 2 days and can't figure how to lead one to the other. I've been using Action Script 2 so far but please get me back to Kansas with this. I'll use Action 3 if I have to.

There are 25 files and ideally I want to achieve the 'Lightbox' look so that the browser window dims and the video plays over the top. After looking around I haven't found any easy solutions.What is the best way to achieve this, bearing in mind I shall have all these buttons on a page and want to have the video 'float' on top of the actual site?I'm relatively new to this although a long standing flash user when it comes to animation etc - not great on scripting.

The only issue I'm running into is that in IE6 the video keeps playing and in other browsers it stops the video your watching and loads the one you clicked on. I looked into using the .remove object or the .append to a div, but I can't seem to get that to work and if it does work will it play nice with IE6.

Apr 29, 2009We're currently creating a Flash presentation (just one movie really) which needs to play and loop on DVD players in retail outlets. It's basically going to be a series of JPEGs which animates between frames. What I need to know is: What is the best size (in pixel dimensions) to go for? How will this be affected by different TV sizes / ratios, such as widescreen vs. normal? We're planning on publishing the Flash movie as a .mov file and then burning this to a DVD. Does that sound a good idea?
