I posted a question like this yesterday but I was not clear in the description....i have an app i'm making in flex and I'd like to have a button's text change to a random entry within an xml when the button is clicked....the xml is in the assets folder and is titled games.xml. I would like to have a random game name be selected from the XML when the button is pressed.[code]...
Using ActionScript 2.0, how do I show or hide a button onclick? I am making a simple mp3 player, and would like my pause button to change to a play button when clicked, and vice versa.
i use FBML for the FB application.I have a flash and the flash suppose to call a javascript on the page. I read so many websites trying to figure it out but still having problem.Here is the Webpage with the javascript:
when i test, the flash loaded. The code goes through everything and show "SENT" in the flash text box. However, it doesn't seem like it is calling the javascript and change the text in the HTML page.is there something wrong I did? i try the ExternalInteface.call method but doesn't work neither. ALSO, when i run it in FireFox, not error popup.however, when i run it in IE, I got this:
VerifyError: Error #1033: Cpool entry 36 is wrong type.
ReferenceError: Error #1065: Variable FBJS is not defined.
Atm the home page loads up a swf gallery that literally just displays a photo then fades in/out onto the next photo etc
it always loads the first frame obviously but i was wondering if there was a way to randomly jump to another part of the timeline each time the home page was reloaded?? its not essential but would be a nice touch
I have a database all set up and working between flash and SQL .The set up allows me to add entries and receive data.. all this works great..The only problem I'm having is that when I want to update the score when clicking on a button..I can only send or receive data, and what I actually want to do is overwrite the current entry with a new entry to update the score..
I typed out a function in an attempt to make two MovieClips appear on the stage in random locations onClick but I think I either forgot to add something or forgot to take something out.
I've got this script that makes this certain symbol to move anywhere when you press the keys.Now I want a button that when you press it, it will position the certain symbol I was speaking of, anywhere I want counting on the x and y axis.
i've a movie clip (e.g. scroll_text) which is consist of 5 words (each word is an individual movie clip). an instance of 'scroll_text' movie clip placed in the main timeline with the following script:
onClipEvent (enterFrame) { _x -= 30; if (_x<=-2247) {
How can I change the text of a button instance without affect the other button text? I belive an AS aproach would solve it but I don't know how to do it.
The cursor is blinking in the correct field but it will not allow any text to be typed into the field. Is there something in the code that is causing this problem?
having a really frustrating problem. I have a file, originally penned by anoother developer in CS3 and resaved as CS4. It uses datagrids extensively. When clicking on a cell in a data grid it now fails to render the font (or a blinking carat for that matter). When you click off and finish the edit the text you enter is there, of course that isn't much use because you can't see what you're typing.I haven't changed how these grids work in anyway, and it was working in CS4 before *mysteriously* stopping.Have tried setting the font to one that is embedded in the setStyle of the custom renderer the cell is using but it makes no difference - everything renders fine when not editing but disappears when editing.
If I have say 7 buttons, each containing text that changes color on rollover using the "Up" "Over" and "Down" keyframes in the buttons' timeline. Is there a simple way to get the button's text to change color when clicked, stay that way, and then change back to the original color once one of the other 6 buttons are clicked?
The only thing I can come up with is writing pages of code for each button that changes the color of every other button regardless of whether it was active.
I changed the instance name to NXT, the type is already button, and I changed the label to say continue. Can create variables and add request new functions too?
I created a somewhat custom Spark button by doing the File > New > MXML skin and basing it on spark.components.button. The problem is that I need to add an extra text field to the button component and dynamically change that text...but of course, the property isn't recognized on a Spark Button.
Is there a simple way to add this field to my custom button skin & its property so it can be addressed? If not, is there a simple way to take what I've done and just extend the Spark Button? I can't seem to find any examples that show how to do it without writing it all up in ActionScript.
I want to make some buttons and use the buttons.fla library. The button is inserted and given an instance name. A second button is inserted (same kind) and given a new instance name. But when I am trying to change the label text in one of my buttons the text is changing on the other button as well. I believed they where separate instances?
generate random text with the click of a button. I have followed the kirupa.com tutorial for 'loading random quotes' but I am still getting a few undesirables. Firstly, I am generating an 'undefined' result occasionally. (Even with the example text from the tutorial). I have 5 quotes as per the example, but still get undefined as a result from time to time. Also, how would I go about altering the code so the same quote wasn't generated immediately after itself?
when it comes to flash but managed to learn enough this past week to get a simple website up (getting laid off so scrambling to get portfolio online!). I have an upload test at lisedupuis.net. In my work section I have a bunch of thumbnails (buttons) for all of the video. Basically, I want to add a text field under the video player which will contain a movie clip name. I want to set it up so that when you mouse over the thumbnails the text changes to the correct movie clip name. I thought maybe creating an event listener might work but can't seem to figure out how to write it. Been looking online and not finding exactly what I need and I am in a huge rush.
I'm relatively new to flash and have been learning on my own, but I ran into a bit of a snag while trying to create a splash page for a client. View Page There's the page. What he wants, is for the shirt to move off the screen when a user clicks on the pocket. Can someone tell me how I would accomplish this using actionscript, or point me to a good (step by step) tutorial on how I would do it?
I have an image map with coordinates and event onclicks. I am not concerned about the image map coordinates as much as i am with the onclick event which is what triggers the parent application ( which seems to only recognize the event formatted in this way:
is there away to remove a text box when I click on another movie clip? I know how to add the eventlistener but just don't know the AS to remove the text box when the X is clicke
there is a simple solution to this. I have the following onclick HTML code that I'd like to get working in a flash environment:<a href="#" onclick="jwplayer().load('movie.mp4')">Click Here</a>I am familiar with the following kind of button code for Flash, but am open to any ways if they work better:
I have a total of 5 separate buttons in my flash document. I want to have a user to be able to click the button and have it display some sort of text near the button itself. How do I get the text to stay once a button is clicked and disappear when another button is clicked? I dont want to use the hit method because the text will contain hyperlinks that I want the user to be able to click on.
I want to add a text area on the click or a button, for example lets say if a person has multiple addresses and they want to add more address. When the user clicks 'add address' a new text area should appear.I have looked everywhere for the solution but no luck
Hear is the code that I have tried (and this could be very wrong):
import mx.controls.Alert; import mx.events.CloseEvent; private function createTextField(evt:Event):void{ var theTextField:TextField = new TextField();
I have an InputText field for users to submit information to me. I want to have the text field display some default text (Ex. Type E-Mail Here) and then when the field is clicked, the text will be cleared. After a long time of searching a found a solution that works perfectly....using ActionScript 2.0. Unfortunately my site is in 3.0 therefore I cannot use this code. For the example I want my default text to be "Type E-Mail Here", and the InputText Instance Name will be "inputTxt"
Here is the 2.0 ActionScript Code: inputTxt.textField = "Type E-Mail Here..." inputTxt.onSetFocus = function() { inputTxt.textField = "" }; inputTxt.onKillFocus = function() { inputTxt.textField = "Type E-Mail Here..." };
When using this code in AS3, I get the error code "1120: Access of undefined property inputTxt". What do I need to make this code work in AS3?

I am in the Flash IDE. I do CTRL + F8 to create a new Symbol. I choose "Button" for the type of Symbol. I draw a rectangle, and then place a Text Field on top of the rectangle. I choose Dynamic Text for the Text Field, and I give the Text Field the instance name of "t1". My Symbol is now complete. I drag a copy of it to the Stage. I give this instance of the button Symbol the name "b1". My goal is simple. When the movie plays, whenever the user clicks the button I would like Flash to show a new random number (from 1 to 5) on the button.
