I tried to use it and it returns null, although the same string tested on RegExr works fine:

I want to be able to replace the spaces at the beginning (inside the > <) for other character. It shouldn't affect the number of character at the right of the spaces or the attributes in the value1 definition.
I need to replace multiple contiguous new line/line feed characters in flex with a single new line character.
Example:

Should be converted to

Hope the example makes it easier to understand.
I am using a component to render it.

Trying to replace a portion of a string with a "-" if it matches a string variable in AS3.

I'm trying to work with RegEx to split a large string into smaller sections, and as part of this I'm trying to replace all instances of a substring in this larger string. I've been trying to use the replace function but this only replaces the first instance of the substring. How can I replace al instances of the substring within the larger string?

I have successfully loaded the HTML code and then began the regex matching, but am stuck on getting the right regex expression to match. The code that I am using in html page builds a tree view list on the html page, so once it's loaded into the flash text box, i am trying to match the html pages to build a list from. The code below is what I am trying to match. The code I want to match is the first two items in quotes for each entry to build the array list of page names, and their URL. The problem is that the pages won't be named as nice as the example below. Each time it can be a different page name, and page url, so I need to match what is in the first two quotes.[code]

View 1 RepliesI have to validate a textfield in AS3 if there are chars like # $ % @ ~ | {} [] / etc. i.e find unnecessary chars and remove them from the textfield. I use a search AS3 function which works with regular expressions, I would like a regular expression so that a search function searches the characters above and if it finds any of them then returns true.
View 2 RepliesI tried searching for an answer but did'nt have much luck. I decided to finally learn how to do a web page in Flash and everything is progressing except for text links. I'm importing a .psd file and I keep the text as editable, the page has 5 text links plus a text logo, the logo text link works when tested (returning to the home page) but the links to the other pages do nothing.
I have tried each one seperately, pointing to both the intended page as well as the home page with no luck, the only one that I can get to work is the logo text. I have also tried grouping the text for links seperate from static text in Photoshop. I'm sure it's something simple and I'm probably over thinking things but whatever the case I can't get it to work.
I was wondering what the best practice was for creating text links in flash? I know how to create a button of course, give it an up, over and hit state. What I normally do is copy the text into each frame, and change the colour for each so that the user can tell when they're hovering and hitting the button. For the hit status, I draw a square for the hit.
But this can be time consuming if you have a lot of text links throughout your site. Especially if you want to change the text colour of your over and hit frames.
So I looked into making a better solution using Actionscript, which was having a function for each of the status, where you change the colour of the button.
I was wondering if anyone else had any other thoughts or wanted to share how they do their text links?
Is it possible to use AS3 to control the appearance of links in TLF text created using the Flash CS5 GUI? Can anyone provide an example? I have tried several meant for TLF text fields created via AS that have no effect on those already on stage.

I've been struggling with this problem for a while:I have a string containing HTML and I'm using a regular expression to get the characters between the tags. I'm then attempting to apply a TextFormat to those characters.The problem is that I'm using the TextField's "htmlText" property instead of it's "text" property (because I don't want the HTML tags to be visible). So, the character index that's returned from the regular expression is incorrect, when I apply the TextFormat.Here is some sample code which illustrates the problem:

I know that as3 has some powerful new text search capabilities, especially when combined with regex. I don't even know if this is possible, but I would like to somehow, search any block of text, and return all nouns, adjectives and verbs. What would be the best(most efficent) way to do this? Is regex an option? or would I have to load in some sort of open sourced dictionary 9as used in spellcheckers) to compare with or?? After, I've pulled all the nouns, adjectives and verbs, I need to count and prioritize by their frequency.
