I'm not quite sure how to do this - I'm building an admin interface to sort the order of a series of flash slides into a dynamic presentation. The admin interface pulls the slides from xml and displays each as a thumbnail. The thumbnails, when dragged, reorder themselves in the array appropriately. The problem is, I want the actual array of slides to reorganize itself accordingly. My code is this:
function onThumbPress( e:MouseEvent ):void { e.target.startDrag(); } function onThumbRelease( e:MouseEvent ):void { e.currentTarget.stopDrag(); sortSlides(); [Code] .....
So what I want to do is take the change in the array (say 0 moves in front of 1 in project_thumbs_array) - and make sure that my other array (project_clips_array) moves item 0 in front of 1 as well. I thought something like this might work but it doesn't: project_clips_array.sortOn ('project_thumbs_array.x',Array.NUMERIC);
I am running into some trouble adding an array into another array to create a multi-dimensional array.The code appears as below:
var slideDataArray:Array = new Array(); var slideShowDataArray:Array = new Array(); slideDataArray[0] = xmlData.SlideShowParameters.SlideShowImagesDirectory;[code]........
I am looking for a means of placing the slideDataArray into a 'slot' or value of slideShowDataArray so that I can in the end pass the slideShowDataArray as a parameter to another function.As of now, the last slideDataArray appears 11 times (the loop runs 11 times) in slideShowDataArray and the way the code is written the slideDataArray is unique every iteration of the loop.
iSo let's say I have three different arrays of objects, and I want to combine them into one sorted array. I want the order to be such that the items from each array are evenly distributed throughout the sorted array.
If there were 3 xItems, 3 yItems, and 3 zItems, the sorted array would have this order: x, y, z, x, y, z, x, y, z
HOWEVER, even if the arrays are differing lengths, I still need to make them alternate as much as possible. If there were 6 xItems, 4 yItems, and 2 zItems, the sorted array should have this order: x, y, x, y, x, z, x, y, x, y, x, z
I'm trying to bring XML nodes into an array so I can sort them in alphabetical order, then display the data in some textfields in a movieclip.I've managed to get the XML displaying fine in the movieclips and all the data in the arrays, but the problem is I'm not sure where to use name.sort();. Right now you can see I have it at the start of the loop that places all the data in, but it will only sort as it populates and hence becomes pointless.Is there a way to add all the data into an array, sort it, THEN display all the data in my movieClips?My XML looks like this:
I just have another really quick question about Arrays, this time about Sorting them. I have just re- written my code to work for matching values from 2 arrays and then adding them to the screen.
however it seems as my matching is way off, it matches the items that are at the same index, which is not always the case
The output for the matches, which should be side by sideis as follows (which is incorrect) Therfore i am trying to find values at diffrent index levels
I tried to sort the Array, but it seems as though the array, cannot be sorted the way i want it. I simply wanted to sort it Acending, but changing it to lowecase would not do what i needed it to do.
This is the code, matchInfo function should do all the work
I have an ArrayCollection nested in another one. I need to sort the child collection by a field. I tried the following code. It works fine for the parent collection, but does nothing for the child one.
// The Data public class Data { public var value:String; public var otherValue:String; public var childrenData:ArrayCollection; // An array collection containing Data objects. }
I'm having a hard time wrapping my head around this problem. I have 2 unsorted arrays that need to be compared, array2 must contain all elements of array1 and array2 can any number of extra elements without affecting the result. I don't see any benefits from sorting the arrays and comparing the string values as array2 can have extra information causing noise.
I need to sort an arraycollection. the problem is that my array is combined from two diffrent arrays, in one the age field is called "AGE", and in the other the age is called "MYAGE".
Now I need to sort the combined array according to age but I got two fields with diffrent names. I can go through the array and change all "MYAGE" to "AGE" but i was wondering if theres maybe a way to sort the array in its current status?
var dataArray:Array = [ 5, 6, 3, 8, 10, 11, 32, 2 ]; var dataObjectArray:Array [ { "uid": 5 }, { "uid": 6 .... Similar to above ... } ]; I have the above 2 arrays in AS3. and i wish to sort them numerically (1 ~ X) in order [Skipping those that does not exist]. What is the best and most efficient way to do so for dataArray / dataObjectArray.
However, i could not sort the subTopic, as it gkeep giving me undefined. Is there any way to sort this subTopic, such that they are in alphabetical orders?
how to reorder an array based on the information contained in another array. What my script is currently doing is detecting all the attached monitors I have and then ordering them based on their left bounds. However I then want to reorder the screens location in the array based on whether the user has selected that display or not. If the user has selected it, by clicking a button, the button movie clip will be on frame two, if they haven't been chosen it will be on frame one. So what I am doing is then creating two separate arrays, chosen screens and not chosen screens, and then combining them into one.
Code: if(displayButton.currentFrame==displayButton.totalFrames) { //sort the chosen ones into an array
[Code]....
My problem now is being able to reorder a separate array which contains all the screens, called screenArray, based off of that. screenArray currently returns [Object Screen], [Object Screen], [Object Screen], etc... and is in the order of 1,2,3,4,5,6. How do I take then and get it to be equal to the order of my displayButtonsChosen Array of 1,3,5,2,4,6?
This has created a service and a package called valueObjects. In this valueObjects package is a class called "House", as I'd expect and I've worked out how to access these and their properties.
What I can't work out is how to work with the class called "Photos". Each house has a property "photos" of type Photos, which I'd expect to be an array but I can't for the life of me work out how to iterate it or see what it stores.
I'm sure this must have come up before but how do you generate nested arrays in as3? In AS2 I believe you could simply write arrayX[a][b][c] = d; but in AS3 you need to declare each nested array e.g.
[Code]....
This doesn't throw any errors but when used in a function, any subsequent values overwrite the existing arrays. e.g. with differing values of a,b,c and d the trace of arrayX[a][b][c].length will always be the value of the last run of the function.
This is nested inside another for loop which creates an array of the movieClip rows. Problem I see them drawn and positioned correctly on the stage but I cant reference any other than the top row in order to change the alpha for example.
Trying to re-sort an array of objects from: var arr:Array = new Array({num:0},{num:1},{num:2},{num:3}) to var arr:Array = ({num:0},{num:3},{num:1},{num:2})
I have an array of movie clips (representing band members) which have various properties, among them them a property which tells where the band member went to after they left their current band. For those who formed a new group, I want to create an array. Within that array, I want to group all the ones that left for the same group into secondary arrays. So, if you had five band members and 2 of them left for group X and 3 left for group Y. What's the best way to do this? This is, roughly, my code:
[Code]...
Alternatively I suppose if I could do without a multidimensional array and just loop through all the members and say - for those members whose group is the same, perform this function, with the name of that same group passed as the parameter for the function. I guess the trouble I'm having is identifying who's the same.
var jsonResponse:Object = JSON.decode(response); var foo:Object = JSON.decode(jsonResponse.nested); var bar:Array = foo as Array;
When i inspect foo - its an object with about 50 children objects.I can read the properties of the children objects. However, when i cast foo as an Array it comes back null.I'd prefer to not iterate over each object and push it into an array.
I have the following problem: I have this multi-level array (nested array) which contains two rows of bitmapData. Row 1:360 rotated bitmapData objects; row 2: 360 rotated and colored bitmapData objects.
I try to access row 2 but that doesn't work. There are some mysterious error messages coming up ("TypeError: Error #1034: Type Coercion failed: cannot convert []@36d7e9e9 to flash.display.BitmapData. at BasicBlitArrayObject/updateFrame()").
this function rotates and colors bitmapData; the rotated bitmapData is thrown into an array and the colored bitmapData is thrown into another array; a third array is used as a level array for nesting the other two arrays inside of it
Code: public function createColoredRotationBlitArrayFromBD(sourceBitmapData:BitmapData, inc:int, offset:int = 0, color:Number = 1, $alpha:Number = 1):Array { tileList = [];
Long story short: I want to search a multidimensional array in AS3 for (in this example) the location of 6 strings - all of which are stored in another unrelared array. Long story long: Once I get the locations (in the multidimensional array) of each string, i then know where it's located, and can access other atributes of that object - so if i found the string "box3" is located in element [5] of my multidimensional array, i can now target: multiArray[5][3] to return the 4th item stored (keeping in mind we're starting from 0, so 3 is the 4th position).
I can get this to work once, but I'm trying to set up a for loop based on the length of my basic string storage array - this array holds (in this example) 6 instance name strings - each time my for loop loops, i need to run a search in my multdimensional array for the next consecutive instance name. Then, once I've located all of them (and store the results in a new temporary array) I can dig around in each location for the info I need.
have a twodimensional array that consists of 6 other arrays(like array[0 to 5][0 to 4]). The [4] of each sub-array is a indexnumber that i'd like to use for sorting the array[0][x] toarray[5][x] according to their array[x][4]-value. How would I do
How would I do to sort this array by the largest sum and not just the first number? var myArray:Array = new Array(100, 200, 9); myArray.sort(Array.DESCENDING) //puts out (9, 200, 100) How would I do to get it (200, 100, 9)?
