Feb 1, 2011I'm having a problem adding numbers that are loaded to dynamic text boxes. I'm using AS 2 (Flash 8). The numbers are loaded to the textboxes from a text file using a loadVars command. The text boxes have instance names of TELEMATICS and BOOK - I have a third textbox called (instance name) RESULT - the text file is called TEST1.txt. My problem is that after trying (and trying) several solutions in tutorials I am unable to add the values in TELEMATICs and BOOK to get a (sum) total in RESULT. Jan 9, 2012i have a text field called Moneytxt and i want it so when u click on a box it somtimes adds 200 and somtimes adds 100 ( also i would like it to add up in numerical value example: if it adds 100 and it has 200 it equals 300 not 200100). I also have penniestxt where sometimes it adds 30 and somtimes it adds 40.

Mar 12, 2009How to add text to a dynamic text field so that a line of text is created, and you can keep on adding to it. I need it to simply add a number to the text line everytime certain buttons are pushed rather than multiplying it like a score in a game and I think I have gone wrong somewhere.
Here's my example: I have multiple buttons on the stage and each button has a different value applied to it (eg: BTN1 has 1, BTN2 has 2, BTN3 has 3 and so on...)
So (as an example) I was wanting to end up with the following in my dynamic text field "1132" if "BTN 1" was clicked 2x and "BTN 3" was clicked 1x and "BTN 2" was clicked 1x......
which equals...... 1132
I'm trying to use the following actionscript but instead of it adding to my line of dynamic text it adds to it like so... 1+1 = 2
BTN1...

_root.equationcount+=1;
}
I'm now wondering if I should be using "count+" at all? My var for the dynamic text field is "_root.equationcount"

But in CS4 it isn't active when I click on the button. When I click on the button to assign an action it tells me "The current selection cannot have actions applied to it".
ActionScript 2.0 :: Take A Static Text Field, Convert It Into A Button, And Use It As A Button,but Button Not Working ?
Mar 7, 2010I want to take a static text field, convert it into a button, and use it as a button. I need it static, because I changed orientation, and I do not know how to do that otherwise. The problem is, even though I converted it to a Button symbol, it does not work when I test the movie. It works fine with "Enable simple buttons", but when I test it, the button is not there, no change in mouse cursor, no reaction at all.So this is what I did:
Made text. // static, not selectable, Orientation: vertical left to right, / //rotated; Two filters: Drop Shadow and Glow;
Converted text field to Button - Symbol (scrollBT)
Editing the Button,I put the same content (the static text field) in all four frames: No luck, not working. without the Hit frame filled (which I think doesn't really make a difference): No luck, not working.Tried again, converting the static text field in the button into a Graphic Symbol: No luck, not working.Tried again, and put some differences in the frames for "ON" and "OVER" etc.: No luck, not working.Tried again, duplicating a similar, working button, edited it, and: No luck, not working.
To the button itself and the AS: The button will be a scroll-button for a text field, with different scroll speeds on rollover and press, but nothing else. The code for that I have (I think). It's something like (and please excuse my incorrect syntax here, but I'm typing from memory; still, I use the Script-Assistant and my syntax is apparently correct; it's also working with other buttons):

I'm at the end of my wits. The only difference I can tell from other (working) buttons I did the same way, is that the scrollBt does not do anything except scrolling, while all of the others have frame actions (gotoAndplay etc.) associated with them.

When you click my music navigation link my music page comes up and there are a few links there that I want to add music to. Jun 8, 2009I've made an animation in After Effects (1:40 min). At the end of the movie appears 3 buttons. I used the "standard" "load external video with playback component" option in Flash to load the FLV in the swf. My problem is that I would like to add 3 invisible buttons at 1:20min over de FLV movie so people can click on it to go to a webpage. I tried to add a button at frame 1440 (18 frames x 80 sec), but that doesn't work because of the playback.

Sep 23, 2009i've got problem with adding a button to a template, so by default there are 4 buttons.i've localized in source move clip with buttons and animation, i've copied one of them and pasted, then i've changed the name from item for to item5. the data for buttons and web pages displayed by them are from the xml file, which code i attach. the problem is that even if i added 5 section [with the number 5 in systemOrder) the webpage doesn't display this content correctly, sometimes taking the value of previous button and sometimes showing just main frame, and instead of elements and texts from xml it shows "Undefined". I've search all the source using movie explorer and i havent found anywhere else connections with item4 / item5.

It did not come scripted with the action of which page to load when you click on them. The way the template was written, it uses the same script for all the buttons. What should I stick into cause it to load different webpages, (index, index1, etc..) based on which menu button it is over the current script for the buttons are as follows:This is on a sprite, not a button object.There are multiple menu buttons of the same sprite. ActionScript 2.0 :: CS3 Keep Adding More And More Animations To Each Button?
Dec 24, 2009I want to add an animation of jumping when I press the Up Key. I have created a "jumping" MC and placed it into my character's movie clip (known as mcMain). Now I want to call the jumping movie clip from the actions in the main timeline, but it only plays the first frame of the jumping animation when you press the up arrow. My theory is that since the script is running on every frame, it's continuously repeating the first frame.[code]And I think that's the command to call on a label, but that is as close to an animation as I could get, so I thought I'd leave that in there as a placeholder.If you do come up with a solution, would it be possible to then help me figure out how I can keep adding more and more animations to each button? I want to simulate different commands (punching, kicking, fireballs etc.) for this fighting game.

Jul 26, 2010I'm not very good in as or flash, but I'm learning. What seems to be a problem with that 3D carousel is:I would like to add close button when you want to go back to carousel after you click on carousel element (but it doesn't work as I would like to). The problem is that when I click on my button it returns to carousel, but carousel doesn't spin and also the last clicked element it's out of position. What I did is I'm calling the function unReleased which is working perfectlly when you clicked on the carousel element.[code]
