ActionScript 1/2 :: Button Is Not Working On 2nd Load?

I have a main swf that loads movies into a clip movieHolder. It loads one movie initially and a button is selected then plays to a frame which loads another movie once a button is pressed in this movie it plays to a frame and at this point / frame I have this code:

I want to take a static text field, convert it into a button, and use it as a button. I need it static, because I changed orientation, and I do not know how to do that otherwise. The problem is, even though I converted it to a Button symbol, it does not work when I test the movie. It works fine with "Enable simple buttons", but when I test it, the button is not there, no change in mouse cursor, no reaction at all.So this is what I did:
Made text. // static, not selectable, Orientation: vertical left to right, / //rotated; Two filters: Drop Shadow and Glow;
Converted text field to Button - Symbol (scrollBT)
Editing the Button,I put the same content (the static text field) in all four frames: No luck, not working. without the Hit frame filled (which I think doesn't really make a difference): No luck, not working.Tried again, converting the static text field in the button into a Graphic Symbol: No luck, not working.Tried again, and put some differences in the frames for "ON" and "OVER" etc.: No luck, not working.Tried again, duplicating a similar, working button, edited it, and: No luck, not working.
To the button itself and the AS: The button will be a scroll-button for a text field, with different scroll speeds on rollover and press, but nothing else. The code for that I have (I think). It's something like (and please excuse my incorrect syntax here, but I'm typing from memory; still, I use the Script-Assistant and my syntax is apparently correct; it's also working with other buttons):

I'm at the end of my wits. The only difference I can tell from other (working) buttons I did the same way, is that the scrollBt does not do anything except scrolling, while all of the others have frame actions (gotoAndplay etc.) associated with them.

The ad on the bottom right of the screen (the one with lightning flashing) has an invisible button in its Flash file (CS5) linking to [URL]. This file is imported as SWF in Dreamweaver CS5.
The hyperlink works in Firefox, but not in Safari. Maybe it is just my computer.

I am having a problem where my buttons on main timeline are working fine. When I create a button within a movieclip layer (a page importeded from Photoshop as a movieclip) the button is not working once I leave. It doesn't show as a working button when I select Enable simple buttons, when I preview or publish as HTML. The thing is, it is a button, it has an instance name, is that weird blue color... and it works fine when I am double clicked into that movieclip layer. I also tried common library buttons and they work fine until I leave that layer as well, also tried it within other layers and creating a new file and doing it... all no success!

I created a button with some roll over effects added some load movie action to load external movie.swf file, everything works perfect except I need about 12 same buttons but with different loadMovie command I mean to load different swf files. so what I did to make it fast I copied the first button and pasted it 12 times so I made 12 nice buttons, but the problem I have is that when I change button 2 load movie settings it automatically changes every button, so I am a little frustrated,

I have successfully dynamically loaded Jpegs into my flash document(using PHP), but then I have another small problem.When I dynamically load the image (example: image_icon_bluesky.jpg) I then need to tell the MC that is holding the loaded image that it needs to do this...

SO basically every time a new image is loaded in my sort of "loop" script. I need to tell the image that it needs to put specific code onto the MC using specific "image" details for that specific image.
I hope this is clear. Basically what I'm trying to do.On my flash stage I already have MC's that have their alpha properties set to "0". Lets say there are 3 images. One MC is called Blue, other is called Red and the last one is called Yellow.Now using AS + PHP I have dynamically loaded 3 Jpeg's .

getting 1120 error--I try differnt things but am trying to load a jpg from an external file--when I put a var picUrl:string ="Uw1.jpg" into the url request it loads the picture fine but I can't figure out how to access the xml as a url when I trace(iL[0]) I get Uw1.jpg but when I put var pictURLReq:URLRequest = new URLRequest(iL[0]); i'm getting 1120 error

I'm having trouble on a project: I have a main movie that loads other according to theframe. In each frame I put the following code:

The problem is that when I load the next movie, an overlay happens. Therefore need to unload the swf that is playing and then load the other. I've tried a lot of stuff (unload /unloadAndStop / removeChild) but does not work.

why it isn't working, or what I'm doing wrong to fix it. maybe I have the right script, but the wrong location. I'm also on Flash 8, by the way.example. I have the movie clip labeled "characters" on the main timeline. in that movie clip I have one movie clip titled "boy" and another one titled "girl". the "boy" movie clip is lip-synced and talking up a storm with some audio, and somewhere down the line, "girl" movie clip is introduced and is also supposed to speak on the frame I labeled by the same name, "speak". I'm trying to specifically target a certain frame in her movie clip timeline to play, but I just can't get it right.what I do have is:

now I know I could also have:

I've tried placing the script directly on the "girl" movieclip when I want the event to happen, and then also placed the script on its own actionscript layer, but somehow, it just isn't working correctly.like I said, "boy" is chatting up a storm, and let's say something like frame 200 is when I want "girl" to come in with her line, that specific audio frame within her movieclip timeline labeled, "speak". she also has about 6 other speaking cues that I'm trying to call up to coincide with movieclip "boy" while he talks.

Is there a way to play a new frame, only if the variable equals 10?

I am trying to load a external swf and then use the BitmapData.draw() method to draw the loaded swf to a bitmap. This does not seem to work. If I draw some lines into the loaded swf using the .lineTo() method and then use BitmapData.draw() i do see the lines that are made by this method, but not the content i put in the swf. Is it just not possible to do this

I am trying to make a button that when clicked on loads an external text file into a dynamic text box.
I can make it work when I use it specifically - but I can't make it work when I want to use it as part of a generic 'button function'.
Basically I have a .txt file "mycontent.txt" which is called using the Load Vars function inside a generic function (tab_grow) i created to managed the behavior of the 12 tabs that are the navigation for the movie. For now i'm just focusing on ONE of the tabs. Basically the tabs move when a user hovers over them and when they mouse off. When they click it should call the external text file. The section in the .txt i'm calling is called 'mega_data'.
This is what I have right now:

I have a setinterval thats playing up i am trying to load a external swf into the timeline after .5 seconds it works fine but it just keeps recalling the function, I just cant seem to clear the interval.

I'm using the gskinner.com bridge to load and talk between a as2.0 object in as3.0 . The library works smoothly. If I upload the html it works smoothly. But when I embed it as using fb:swf on facebook, the as2.0 object stops loading, any clues?

So I made a drag and drop app where I can drop in an image, it get's resized and saved automatically on the desktop.
But now I want to do the same when there are multiple images dragged in. This is where I'm stuck...

I've looked everywhere and keep getting the same answer. I have a standard flv player component with the instance name of 'movies'. i have a button, that when clicked i want it to load a certain flv into said player... so... ive got behind the button (for example..)

I have a sef file loading images via xml. This is working perfectly. When I load this swf into another file it stops working. I cannot figure out what path to change.This is the what it looks like:

I have designed a "Before-and-After" slideshow using Alpha tweens to slowly fade one image into another. The effect works great, however, it seems that the effect only works on the first time the user enters that page. If the user clicks the "play again" button, I reload the .swf and want the effect the play again, but it just moves from the first to second image, without the alpha effect transition.Is there some way to "reset" the .swf to replay the alpha tween effect? why it would have this behavior? The site and effect are purely actionscript, so I cannot do something like "goToAndPlay(1)" in the last frame, the entire site is only in the first frame.

I have a picture with an invisible button, once clicked on the button runs a movieclip with an instance - box1, once its opened a close button appeared, called closeBtn1 and the idea is when thats clicked, for box1 to gotoAndPlay frame 80, but no matter where I put the code it doesnt seem to let the closeBtn work! Even trace actions aren't getting recognised![code]as u can see I'm trying to trace even if the closeBtn gets rolled over but to no avail.I have also tried it from scene level and still no joy.

I have created a flash menu using flash cs3 and actionscript 2.0 I have used the geturl script for my buttons have exported added the file to my site but one i goo to use the button links three of them work fine but one just won't work. Really haven't a clue what I am doing wron the code is identical for all the buttons (minus the url).

I work with Flash all day at work, and I've made a million buttons. But today, I decided to make a few at home for my personal website. I made a rectangle, turned it into a button symbol, and made keyframes on each state. When I tested it, it didn't work. If I go to Control -> enable simple buttons, it works just fine, but either testing it with ctrl-enter or opening up the SWF gives me a dead button with only the up state.
I uploaded the fla. How could something so simple not work?
It was created in flash CS4, but I saved it down to CS3/Flash player 9 for the sake of compatibility.
