ActionScript 1/2 :: Flash Not Playing Correctly In Mac Browser
Feb 9, 2010
I have this thumbnail photo gallery (AS2)that is running fine on a pc, but when viewed in firefox or safari on a mac the thumbnails do not show up. Here is a live link: [URL] at the bottom you should see the thumbnails, but maybe not if viewing on mac? You can download the fla from here [URL].

What's the correct way to detect, from Flash, when someone has started a drag within the browser (eg, a MOUSE_DOWN event), dragged the mouse outside the browser window, released the button, then moved the mouse back over the browser? For example (assuming StackOverflow was a Flash application):I've tried the "obvious" thing, checking event.buttonDown in the MOUSE_MOVE handler, but even though the mouse button is up, event.buttonDown is true in step 2 (above). So, is there any other way to check the "real" status of the mouse button? Or any other way to handle this situation?
I am designing a fairly simple site made up of a swf (AS3) in an html page. I'm relatively new to it all, but was doing ok until recently! The problem I have is this: The swf within the html loads perfectly from my local drive in all browsers, but when published to the remote server does not display correctly in Safari or Chrome... It is fine in Firefox.
To see it correctly, use Firefox and the link below. To see it fail at the preloader (in fact, it distorts the design of the pre-loader and goes no further) use Chrome or Safari. [URL] The site is unfinished, so there are other issues you may find which I am solving, but this is the one of concern.
I created a flash file (I will refer to this a swf.1) that plays correct when published as swf. However when I place it into another flash file the nested animation inside the swf.1 does not run.The nested animation in swf1. that does not run has a mask. Would this have anything to do with it?
when trying to play the MP3 stream of the URL "[add_http_://]radiow.cld.3qsdn.com/stream01" with ActionScript 3 it only "stutters" and sounds horrible, but it works perfectly with ActionScript 2.I'm using following Code in ActionScript 2:
ActionScript Code: coolTune = new Sound(soundLoader); coolTune.loadSound("[add_http_://]radiow.cld.3qsdn.com/stream01", true); => This works perfectly - no problems.
But when using this code together with ActionScript 3:
ActionScript Code: var coolTune:Sound = new flash.media.Sound (new URLRequest("[add_http_://]radiow.cld.3qsdn.com/stream01")); coolTune.play(); => It sounds really horrible.
It is a normal MP3 stream (128 Kbps) that works perfectly with any other player (like WinAMP, VLC, Windows Media Player, ...).
First is that after showing question and answers and playing sounds i go to the next question and we the answers but the sound does not go with it, that is the sounds of question and answer dont change and are the same as in the first question and the same goes for answers the xml looks like this:

I need to play videos stored on a web server from a web browser.
I was thinking of using Flash to achieve this. I found this article [URL]
Is there a better approach? Also when the video is playing or is paused, I'd like to be able to read the current time of playback from the browser (I guess through Javascript). Would Javascript be able to retrieve this time from the flash player?
I am having a issue scaling the swf in the browser. The properties are set in the html tab correctly I think. I published in flash and it scales the movie only on the first and second frame(while the preloader is playing). then it jumps back to the original size of the movie even when the browser window is smaller. My settings are
I have a full-browser flash site, with a movie clip horizontal nav bar at the bottom of the page. I've got everything working well (the background rescaling to fill the browser when the browser window size changes, the horizontal nav bar at the bottom....) for the most part. One thing is really getting to me however. Check out the example I made here: the nav bar sits in the middle of the page. The moment you re-size the browser, it pops into the desired location near the bottom and stays there, even if you continue to re-size. However I want it to appear where it should at the bottom of the window on page load, without having to re-size the browser windowIn the following code, main is the placeholder for the image slideshow that runs in the full browser, menu_mc is the menu.
I need to play WAV, MP3, MP4 and SWF files using Flash Player plug-in in Internet Explorer, FireFox, Chrome and Safari. Please give some suggestions on this.Is there any way to play this formats using JavaScript and HTML??I tried with and tag also but, Chrome, Firefox and Safari is required Quick Time Player to play this formats. I need to use only Flash Player.
I have found a great resource for a fluid flash layout but there is one glitch with the site in that when it loads the content is all pushed up into the top left hand corner, if you then click rescale the browser it then fills the screen correctly but not initially. Here is the site: [URL]. The as. file for reference is with the rest of the files at this download link.[URL]
I am using YouTube JS API to play videos on my site. Video is played on the dialog box. When user closes the dialog box, player is stopped - player.stopVideo(); But when user clicks again on video icon again, dialog box appears
In Chrome, the video starts playing at the previous position - OK Firefox, the video starts playing from the start irrespective of where user left it last time. - NOT OK
As per my requirements, I want the Chrome to behave as how firefox is behaving.
My site works perfectly when played locally, but now that it is on a test server my swf has disappeared. The swf is an empty shell in which an xml file is played. I have encountered this before and have fixed it, but I cannot find where my code is wrong this time.
Got a 31fps .swf that when I play it in Flash from Test Movie plays at the proper speed. However, when I test it in a browser, the .swf plays about twice as fast. The movie does load a H.264 .m4v video at frame one so I'm wondering if that has something to do with it. Does anyone know of a way I can force the .swf to play at 31 fps?
I have created a short (6 seconds) SWF movie with Adobe Flash Professional CS5 that I would ultimately like to show in the header of my siteWhen I double click the SWF file on my desktop it works just fine. When I upload it to my website (or any other SWF host for that matter) and click the absolute URL it does not play (in any browser).I suspect that the file isn't ready for web publishing. Essentially, during the creation of the SWF file, I did the following:Made a short movie in Adobe Premiere CS5 which I saved as f4vI used the Import Wizard in Adobe Flash CS5 to import the f4vExported the movie as SWFThis results in a stand-alone SWF which works fine when double-clicked on the desktop, but not in any browser once uploaded.Alternatively, instead of exporting I have tried to publish the file, which doesn't allow for the SWF file to play in a browser either
I have a problem with a swf file which will not play in web browser. It played fine until I updated my site.I tried typing the absolute path to the swf file in the browser address bar and found it straight away. When I clicked on it the screen stayed blank.I checked the path to the file and the flv file was relative to the document and not the site.
swf plays fine in flash player, flash, and locally on dreamweaver.I moved the swf up the file tree and changed the links accordingly but still would not play.I also tried saving it as a new swf from flash, but that doesn't play either.I added another swf to the containing folder and that played fine in the browser. When I open the fla file in flash it only shows a flv playback movie, not the elements, I think this is because it was created in after effects. Here is the link to the containing folder, the swf file is Home_page_movie_V2.swf

I have a small application to play a stream from an Internet radio broadcast. When I play the .swf locally it has no problem at all, but once I put the swf on the browser, nothing plays. I don't know if is a security issue. The path to the stream file is in another domain of the page I am mounting it, for example, I put my html file on: w w w . myradio.com/index.html and the swf is calling [URL]
What does this mean. I go to see certain movies on certain sites, like news sites and a window pops up showing this error. Both on Firefox and IE[code]...
I am loading an external SWF file into my main timeline. The external SWF file contains an FLV video. At a certain point in my main timeline, the SWF file loads and plays the video. Is there a way to say...
If the VIDEO (FLV) is done playing, gotoAndPlay(X)?
in other words, suppose I want to send data, like text, programmatically from a Windows app (such as a browser plugin) to a Flash app running in the browser. Well, conceptually, an example of this might be a Flash instant messenger with a textbox and button "Send"; so let's say I want to be able to programmatically paste the text and press Send or otherwise activate it. That's NOT what I am trying to do here in reality (i.e., no,I am not trying to spam other people's chat rooms or anything)but just an illustration of a similar situation.I can include in it whatever widget or hack that may be necessary. The reason why this problem is arising for me is that AFAIK the SDK that is providing me the data I want cannot be directly accessed from Flash, so I need a way to pipe the data from a regular app into Flash. can I have the Flash app interact with other apps through localhost IP? Or are there draconian restrictions on which server Flash in browser can and cannot interact?
I have a PHP mailer form on my site which needs to be published in action script2 to work, but I also have a script set up to open browser windows of a certain size & location which needs actionscript 1 to work? The PHP mailer form has a "Name" field, "Email" field & "Message" field, theses can all be reset with a button. The button clears off any text in the 3 boxes to wipe them clean. The script on the reset button is:
This works fine with section script 2 but not with as1. Does anyone know of a script that resets the .text field on as1 Alternatively is there any way of opening browser windows from a flash movie with browser win controls, eg. centre win, no scrollbars.
[URL].. Anyone know the AS to make it automatically check the size of the browser for the listeners_notice when you resize the browser it works perfectly...but not when it first loads up.
I have tried a million different ways, nothing works. My main website is a .php file, so I am having trouble getting it to work.I embed using[code]...but it just shows up as a white box flash. (with the flash watermark)if i load the flash directly, it works fine.my website is [url]...
If you set a .swf with wmode transparent mode and register the Event.RESIZE in it. It will not work correctly in Chrome and will ultimately crash the Flash Player. Of course same thing in FF, EI or any other browser works like a charm. Setting wmode to window fixes the problem but anyone knows a work around with wmode set to transparent?
