ActionScript 1/2 :: Interesting Array + Dynamic Image / Button / Tab Quandary

Jul 14, 2009

Last week I had posted about getting a bit of clarification on dynamic tabs, as seen in this thread: [URL] The next step has my head spinning a bit. Here's the setup: This is a slideshow viewer, ala PowerPoint. Images are pulled in from an external directory via an array. Dynamic tabs are also generated in an array. Right now the demo has 10 images in the first array and 6 tabs in the second array:

[Code]...

now, some of the images will be part of a range - as in maybe the first three would fall under the "Safety" tab, next two under "Efficacy", etc....so when a viewer clicks on a tab the player loads up the first photo in that sequence. So: User clicks tab "X", this compares "X" with the range of images associated to "X" and loads the first in the sequence. Now, to add in more fun, there's a next and back button. So now if someone hits the next button then they should view sequentially the next image in the "X" image array (or sub-array). and the reverse for the back button. so my first thought is that I'd need to have the AS compare Safety with the imageList Array - something like

[Code]...

Well I'm creating a small image gallery of thumbnails and am looking for interesting effects when the big pic loads. I'm sick of just fading in images with the alpha setting and need some inspiration. I've done a google search but it revealed nothing of any use.

Do you know of any tutorials for this or fla downloads?

ActionScript 2.0 :: Reference A Button In A Dynamic Array?

Mar 10, 2009

I've got a couple of columns of buttons loaded with attachMovie and looping through an xml array with a for loop, so they're named, for example, "thisBtn"+i+"_mc". But I don't seem to be able to reference them in the script with either a written-out name like thisBtn0_mc, or with "thisBtn"+i+"_mc".

How exactly do you reference each individual button?

I have started brazing up recently. I'm presently stuck on a project and I need your assistance. I'm loading xternal data from xml and I want the next and previous button to pick the next data from the xml and display. If the user presses the button when the end of file as been reached the next button display only the last data, so for the previous button it displays the first data. I have included a transition effect on display of each image upon user interaction with the buttons. Also I want the first data to be displayed before user interacts with the buttons.

ActionScript 3.0 :: Interesting - Looking For Answers?

Sep 21, 2009

I've created an entire website from one .swf. No dynamic loading of other .swfs, or external content etc. Simply a few different buttons that navigate to different frame-labeled areas of the .swf via gotoAndPlay, etc. There are 8 different "areas" of the timeline to go to, each with it's own set of movie clips for that area.

As far as I know, the website works great on all computers and browsers with current Flash players. But I got a call from one of the owners of the business I created the site for and he's having an interesting problem: The preloader completes and takes him to the first area. He can see areas 1-4 just perfect. But when he click to go to area 5, less than half of the movie clips load in what seems to be a random order and then the rest of the .swf (beyond that point in the timeline) can't be accessed at all.

This could be common, but as far as I know, I've never heard of it. He's had someone at his site who is apparently "fluent in computer" look over his internet settings and cannot find any issues.

Anyone ever heard of this or know what I should suggest he try besides updating his browser and Flash Player?.

ActionScript 1/2 :: TransitionManager Via Array On Array Image MC?

Jun 23, 2009

Right now I have a manual slide show that works using a simple fade in. Images via an external directory, set up in an array and dropped into an MC whenever someone clicks "next".

What I need to have happen are different transitions applied to each new image via "next" button click.

I've tried a number of things - setting up a transition array and using "switch" however I seem to be missing the proper code for this.

As it stands, here's the basic functioning code:

import mx.transitions.*;import mx.transitions.easing.*;
i = 0;var imageList:Array = new Array("slides/1.jpg", "slides/2.jpg", "slides/3.jpg", "slides/4.jpg", "slides/5.jpg", "slides/6.jpg", "slides/7.jpg",

ActionScript 2.0 :: Dynamic Text In Button Nested In Dynamic Movie Clip?

Jan 23, 2010

I've made a flash movie which will load four movie clips at runtime. Actually, the number of movie clips will depend upon number of "NODE" in XML file. Keeping XML file thing aside, I've tried hardcoded values; 4. Let me describe you the structure very well:

There is a main empty movie clip, instance name "mc_scroll" which will be only item on stage. In this movie clip, another movie clip whose identifier name is "blueMovie" will be loaded dynamically. Inside this "blueMovie" MC, there is a button instance name is "blueButton" and inside this button there is a "Dynamic Text" field instance name is "btn_text".

Phewww.. so long chain... inshort:
mc_scroll->blueMovie->blueButton->btn_text

Now, I can load 4 or any number of "blueMovie" inside "mc_scroll". But I also want to set the button text for each button inside each MC!! I'm sure you guys are getting what I want to do. But its not working. Below is the code:

Code:
//INSIDE THE MAIN TIME LINE
for(i=0; i<4; i++)
{

[code]....

how to assign the text dynamically which is inside a button and this button inside a MC which is created dynamically inside a main MC!

ActionScript 3.0 :: Link The Button Array With The Xml Array?

[code]...

I have three buttons on the stage. When I click button _1, I want to access the value in the first element in the xml file (George). And so on with button_2 and button_3.I'm guessing you put the buttons in an array. How do you link the button array with the xml array?

ActionScript 2.0 :: Make A Simple Image Gallery Which Changes Image Upon A Mouse Click On A Button

Nov 7, 2010

I'm trying to find out how to make a simple image gallery which changes image upon a mouse click on a button, when a button is pressed I want the image to slide in from the left into the viewable area and then when another image is selected I want the previous image that was viewed to remain in the screen and then the new image slide across over the top to replace the image.

I can get the images to slide across from the left upon a mouse click however I can't change the layer order so if image 6 is viewed and then I click to see image 1, the image will slide into place however it will be below image 6 so therefore not viewable.

I don't have an example of what I'm after but I hope my explanation was good enough, I've seen this been done in javascript but I have to use flash and am unable to replicate the effect I'm after

Professional :: Import A New Image To Replace The Old Image The Button Disappears

May 5, 2010

As part of a much, much larger project, a client has asked me to take an existing flash banner, change the graphic, text, and link to make 4 more that are almost identical. Though I haven't worked extensively with Flash, I am familiar with it and thought this should be fairly easy, right? (Unfortunately, easy isn't exactly the word I'd use.)

I'm trying to take an existing fla, and change just the graphic, text, and button link to make a nearly identical banner. However, when I import a new image to replace the old image, the button disappears. I've tried overwriting the current image as well, and while I have a new image to show on the banner, and the text still works just fine, AND I have the outline of the box that should house the button (it even shows in the library),

Additionally, I will need to change the link, and since I'm having this much problem with a button, maybe you could understand how that works as well, because I can't even change it on the original.

Array To Dynamic Box?

Sep 6, 2010

I have 4 buttons, all have a number (1 - 4)I want these numbers to be entered into a dynamic box every time one of the buttons is clicked.The dynamic box should only have 4 characters in it, so when a button is clicked, the first characted is dropped, they all move along one and the new character (entered by pressing the button) is added to the end of the string of numbers.I assume this is done in an array somehow.Set an array of 4 elements.when the button is clicked, [0] = [1], [1] = [2]... etc.Then [3] = the number of the button.And then this array is assigned to the box.
