View 3 RepliesI have some button code on frame one. that looks like this:
[AS]on (release, keyPress "<Enter>") {
mylogin = new LoadVars();
mylogin.password = password;
mylogin.username = username;
[code]....
basically sending and recieving variables from a php page. I want to be able to specify what my textbox on frame 5 says in the onLoad statement. Is this possible?
Currently the only way I have been able to get the text to display is either to use the textbox variable and declare that in the onload statement, or to put textbox.text = mylogin.message; on the actual frame.I doubt there is a way to do it, because the actual textbox hasn't be created yet, but if there were a way, that would be nice.

I am trying to design an output text box that will read the sum of 8 buttons. The total sum of the 8 buttons will change depending on which buttons are on and off. Whichever buttons are turned "ON" their sum will calculated and put into the output text box.

I have four movie clips (.f4v) in 4 frames in a movie with watch buttons.. This movie has them been imported into a main movie container that has next and previous buttons. However if i play a movie then hit next frame, the movie continues to play in the background. The code below shows one of the actionscripts for a movie clip and then the main actionscript in the main movie.[code]...
View 1 RepliesI have tried this a dozen different ways and I really am at my wits end.
I have a presentation that works like a powerpoint. Everything is working as it should, except one part. I have a movie clip with an instance named slides, and I want to actively display which frame number you are in this move clip.
I have tried more than one why but I see no reason why this should not work:
var frameNum:Number = this.slides.currentFrame;
this.frameText.text = "Pquina " + frameNum + " de 173";
It appears to work at first, but does not update when I navigate the slides. It constantly says 1. Before I just added a function to the back and next buttons to frameNum++ and frameNum--, but after I created the Menu I would prefer it to automatically detect what frame it is on.
I have a GUI using Flex. I have a condition like i need to execute some command line arguments in the local machine and get the results back or output back to a textbox area. How can i do a button on submit, execute command in the local machine and return the output?Command to execute example:
echo logfile.log | grep username
Code:
button1.onRelease = function ()
{
// in this computer, it will now run a command, please wait.
}
I've been playing with prototype a bit and I've noticed that either it isn't as static as it should be or that some functions are protected from altering, or that in some cases the prototype actually extends a function. For example, I was trying to modifiy the global trace function to output the current time of a trace action, something like this :
Code:trace("lulu"); // output 12:48:17.286 lulu I DID achieve something close to it, but it seems that I haven't actually modified the global trace function, but rather it's "_root" counterpart,

I'm making a simple RPG platformer where a character will pass over an object. When the action key is pressed and the character is over top the object, I would like a block of text to appear on the stage with a close button to cancel out.
I would like to know how a person would go about making a "pop-up" text box.
How to send value to frame 2?
frame1:
i have an input textfield named "MyInput".and a button.
if I pressed the button, it will go to frame 2. BUT how i can display the inputted value in frame.
frame:
I have a dynamic textfield named "MyOutput"
Is there a way to grab the current frame number?
View 3 RepliesAs a follow up to learning the XML in AS3 from this Tutorial, http:[url]...ml_as3_pg1.htm, wanted to know how to create text boxes dynamically for each element to display on the stage. Want to add space to the y axis to drop one on top of the other, so they don't just layer on top of each other.
Code:
for (var i:int = 0; i < authorList.length(); i++) {
var authorElement:XML = authorList[i];
trace(authorElement);[code]....
I am working on a typewriter text effect for a short movie, and it works great. When testing, however, the output that is called from a local text file doesn't clear on the next frame, causing overlapping frame content. How do I remove the string of output during the next frame of the movie.
var myText:String;
var counter:int = 0;
var format : TextFormat = new TextFormat();
[Code]....
Right now I'm us Flash CS4 and creating a flash program in AS3. After a certain frame the dynamic text boxes that I have set up refuse to display text when required. I've gone over every line of code and every possible set up and I can't understand why it will not work. I've made sure all the dynamic text boxes have the instance names properly in place naming them all "talkBox". I've made sure all the code is written properly talkBox.text = "Insert Text Here!" There should be absolutely no reason in the world why the dynamic text boxes shouldn't be working.
View 1 Replieshow can I get the current frame of a MovieClip.It's an animation that just loops over and over when its opened with ctrl+enter.On the stage its just one layer and one frame, but when it's double clicked, it has its own timeline with 20 frames.
Actionscript Code:
//what i had but it shows frame 1trace(myMovieClipInstance.currentFrame);
display the current frame when it changes. So something with a while loop. Like while the movie clip is playing, display the current frame.
I can get this code to work, how far off am I? it is just taking me to the first frame, i want it to take off from the current frame.
on (press) {
oot.gotoAndPlay(_currentframe);
}
How to get the current frame? At first its in the starting frame. What I want to do is when I press Enter gotoAndStop(3); and again pressing enter key and if its in frame 5 gotoAndStop(5); etc. So how to know which frame I'm in at the present moment? One way I did is giving all the keyframes (3, 5, etc) a particular label and check using 'currentLabel == 3 ,..etc'. But is there any way to do it without giving it a label by merely using the keyframe numbers?
View 5 RepliesIs possible to display all the information in the Output folder into a textField on the stage ?
I need to debug after publishing and I can't replace each single "trace" functon.
First project using flash and im having some problems with a combobox function im trying to apply. I have a combobox that I hope when selected populates an input text box on another frame. When I test when the input text box is on the same frame the code below works and the selection is shown, but i want to show the input text field on another frame and this doesnt work.
myCombobox.addEventListener(Event.CHANGE, myHandler);
function myHandler(evt:Event):void{
selectedLabel.text = myCombobox.selectedItem.label;
selectedData.text = myCombobox.selectedItem.data;
selectedIndex.text = myCombobox.selectedItem.index;
}
i want to autofocus on my textbox on enter frame. I tried this Selection.setFocus("textbox"); but nothing happens the textbox is not focused so i can write on it.
View 3 RepliesI feel like such an idiot but after trying endlessly I still haven't managed to come up with a way to display the current frame number of nested movie clip ("ecke1") (in a dynamically created text field).The problem really is that I don't know how to have flash keep updating the variable. Here's my latest attempt:
Code:
var frame:int = 0;
addEventListener(Event.ENTER_FRAME,updateframe,false,0,true);
[code]....
I have labeled my frames in the timeline. Is it possible to retrieve this labels in an onEnterFrame function?
I can use this but it only returns frame numbers:
code:
this.onEnterFrame = function() {
trace('current frame:' + this._currentFrame);
};
Is there a way to get he current frame of a movie clip that is playing? For example I have myClip which is a MovieClip, and the code is myClip.stop(); Is there a way to know which frame myClip stopped on? Such as frame 5 or 10 or so?
View 1 RepliesIs it possible to add a child to the current frame only?
I know you can just remove/hide them, and generate/show them again.
But isn't there an easier way?
What's the sanest way to achieve something along the lines of this.gotoAndStop(this._currentframe)?
What I want is that Flash re-loads the current frame as if I was using gotoAndStop (which does nothing if it is given the current frame as target frame).
is it possible to make my code only apply to the frame it is written on (not inherited by the other frames). How can i remove the default inheritance?
View 4 RepliesI just want a simple way to get the seconds of the current frame when playing the swf.
It's purely for debugging purposes
When an animation stops, I need to give the user a way to again view the animation.Is there a way in AS3 to reload (or refresh) the current page I tried gotoAndStop(1), but the variables are not reset.
