I am building a portfolio site which dynamically loads large hi-res images when the user clicks on a thumnail. However I'm having problems maintaining the original image's quality when resizing it to fit the current browser. Currently I'm just adjusting the width & height properties of the image to width to the stage proportionally which is working fine getting it to fit, however I cannot figure out how to maintain image quality? Do I need to load it as a bitmap and redraw/smooth or something similar?[code]
View 1 RepliesI've placed some of my videos flv and f4v in the vod/media and webroot/vod folders with sample files provided. My files were checked with flvcheck and passed. When I load the embed code into a Dreamweaver HTML file and save the page to the webroot folder as instructed, the provided sample files play in my Firefox browser. However, when I edit the code to insert my files in strict accordance with the instructions concerning codecID and extension, I get the following message on the Browser "We are unable to connect to the content you've requested." My videos are less than 30 minutes in length and were encoded H.264 using Adobe Media Encoder and as I said passed the flvcheck.
View 1 RepliesI am developing an application in Flash that runs locally and it uses FMS 4.01, locally. I have been using adobe FMS 4.01 for months with no problem. Today I cannot connect to my server and I cannot even play the sample video on the Flash Media Server Start Screen. The sample video for the http plays after I changed the permissions for flash, but rtmp does not play. I have reinstalled the server; 3.5, 4.0 and 4.01, none of them will connect to rtmp. I receive this error on the flash media server start screen that says "the connection timed out".

I'm pretty sure the swf object would be loaded/ready as with document.getElementById('flashobject').onload = function(){}; before the corresponding images have loaded though, instead of after.
View 1 Repliesif I repeat this IIS topic, I couldn't find the answer to my problem any where on the internet. I installed FMS Dev 3.5 on Win 2003 Server with IIS 6.0 enabled. I don't have any issue with port 80 Listening, I used the IP address 192.168.0.21 for my web application (IIS) and 192.168.0.22 for FMS (I only have one network card and port 1935 is open under firewall). I can play the sample videos (RTMP, HTTP, and Dynamic Stream) using the Flash Media Start Screen (or from the location C: Program FilesAdobe Flash Media Server 3.5webrootindex.html) without any problem.
I then modified the IIS Default Website to look at the "webroot" folder (C: Program FilesAdobe Flash Media Server 3.5webroot). From IE, I can access the default web site by enter http://192.168.0.21/index.html. The website loads up correctly, and the RTMP video is playing perfectly. However, if I click Play Video (HTTP) or Dynamic Stream (tab), I receive "Connection Error. Please press Play to try again." I look at the log file (access.01.log) and see the error log "Session disconnect

I had FMS 3.5 developer package installed on my server installed about a month ago. I used to be able to go to the /webroot/ page to see the sample RTMP video play and it worked great. Today, I go to view that page and find that it no longer plays. I get "Connection Error. Please preee Play to try again."
Pressing the play button does nothing, so I click the RTMP thumbnail and it reloads ony to give me that same error again. I can click the HTTP thumbnail and see the video play just fine. But, I want RTMP and after over an hour on the phone with my managed hosting tech, we can't find anything wrong.
Here's the thing: I haven't done anything, I have not changed anything, I have not manipulated the server software whatsoever. It just stopped working and gives me "Connection Error."

I'm curious what the correct methodology is for loading image and video data directly from the file system, without employing HTTP.I'm writing an AIR slideshow application, and it works great but currently relies on a local MAMP server to hand the app all the media via the standard, tried and true, FLASH media loading methodologies.I know that since FLASH was developed as a web plugin it handles this way of receiving data best, but I'd really like to extricate this rather onerous and unnecessary bit and have the app as a stand-alone player, however, I'm unclear what the "correct" way is to load the media.I have the File objects ready and I've gotten as far as having the user select the local directory from which to pull the media and I'm getting a list of the files (based on their extensions) from the list.

i have an swf placed into a html doc - the swf creates thumbnails and links that create a sort of videowall effect - the links come via xml. i am using lightwindow to create an overlay that displays the links/images/video etc... so here is the problem - if i open it with firefox on a mac - and choose say the youtube link - it opens lightwindow brings in the flv briefly - then the flv vanishes leaving a white void where the player should.
but if i add the same link to the html and click it, that works as it should do - ie the youtube flv apprears and you can click and play it etc... Safari on a mac works a treat - and loads and then plays the flv. is this just a bug in FF for the mac - or mac&pc? doesn't FF like flash and youtube together or something? or is there a work around? my tester is here could any pc heads tell me if the lightwindow works at all on their windows browsers? and tell me what versions you are on?
How would I do a text movie like the one on this home page? http:[url]....I've tried before, but have had no success. I can create the swf file and fade images in and out. In the past I've put one line of text on one image, then another line of text on another image, but when I fade the images in they just cover up the prior one.

Relating to my four pictures. All of the names are correct, everything is correct, so not sure why I am getting this error. Even wierder is when I comment out 3 of the images in the xml file, and just try the one image, I get no error at all (The picture isn't displaying, but atleast I get no error).
I am a self taught photographer and web designer, well I was taught html but that's it. I've been working on a site and I cannot get my images to load from a php file with actions script. Its part of my intro page and I want it to play images from a php file.

I have built an image/video scroller in Flash 8. It loads images and flv files from an external xml file. It allows you to scroll through the images using a left and right button. The image in the middle is clickable, and when you click on it, it loads the cooresponding flv for that image and plays the flv. It all works great, except from time to time, the video control components become unactive - they are there, but do not work. Currently, I just have the playpause button. When this happens it becomes active again at the end of the video. It seems to happen more frequently in FF than in IE. If you contact me I can give you a link to a page where this is working.

View 3 RepliesI was wondering is there a way to load images at run time that are loaded from an external webhost. Basically i want to be able to store the addresses of the images into an array and then each slide is going to contain 1 image, which will load the next image in the array when the user clicks the next button.
I'm fine with getting the array setup etc, but need to know is it possible to use web addresses and load images at runtime?? Aswell as defining a size and position for where the image will appear.
I'm not sure if Flash 8 supports this loading on the fly so the speak?? Basically I will update the images when required by replacing them with the same name and address where the photos are being hosted, but the program will still load from the same address, therefore showing the updated images.

I have a flash file that loads external images randomly onto the stage! That part works just fine. I have placed the code for loading images on the second frame of the flash file. What I want to do is to create a button on the second frame so when the users click on it the flash file will go back on the first frame. (Basically a Back Button). I did create a button and it will go back to the first frame once its clicked. However the image that loaded on the second frame will stay on the stage when the flash file's gone back to the first frame. I need to remove the image loaded on the second frame as well when it has gone back to the first frame!!
