I have developed a full screen .exe flash file in actionscript 2. It controls physical lights (e.g. turn on and off) by simply calling a URL for each action. However, I don't want the called URL's to open in front of the interface. Is there a way to call a hidden URL in flash?

Everything is working perfectly except that since this is a Kiosk, there is no need for browsers. When I send the info to the ASP page, it pops up a new browser window.

Has anybody had Flash player debuuger suddenly stop working for no reason whatsoever. What I've found so far: - No exception screens popping up.. in ANY browser. Reinstalled debugger version of flash player, no go. - Flashbug not showing in Firebug - No trace calls visible in FlashDevelop - Flash IDE behaves normal.. all trace calls visible - Firefox updated about the same time but problem seems to be on a wider scale This started approximately, on Sunday 8th Januray (or saturday).

I want the swf to just work inside the movie, with the sheen changing each time it's rolled over. I have a script that is a flash based scroller that takes the information from an xml file:There are scrolling thumbnails, when you click on them it takes you to a new url page. Only it's loading the url in the same window and I'd like for it to load in a blank or new window.Here's what I have now:

My movie has several scenes. In one of them I have to swapdepths of some mc's. The weird thing is that when I go on to the next scene, the mc's that were on top of the stackingorder are showing up on top of the next scene. I've tried about everything I could think of, but the mc's keep popping up on the other scene's.

I have views that make remote calls and I want to keep the data when the user navigates back to the view using the back button so I don't have to make a remote call again.
Is there a way to set a global variable that's accessible from all views, or a way to retain data when a user navigates back to a view using the back button?

View 4 RepliesI have a main flash movie that has 6 navigation buttons for 6 sections of the website. Each button loads an external swf to cutdown on preloader time for the whole website. Within each section, for example section1.swf, there are a number of images you can click through, with previous and back buttons. On each image in section1.swf is a button so that you can popup a window with more related info and images. So, in section1.swf on the first image image1_mc there is a button pop_btn, and I would like it to open a popup_mc which loads an external swf. Popup_mc would have a close_btn to close the window. I have tried various things for 2 weeks, and have had no luck. I can open a popup window, or I can load a swf, but I can't figure out how to put it all together.

View 2 RepliesHave small thumbnails that will enlarge when the mouse is over them and shrink when it's not. For some reason sometimes only the X or Y will scale or the buttons won't work correctly. The animation will pop and I don't know how to fix it. The only reason I drop the opacity on all the others is because sometimes other images will get in the way.

First of all I have been following some tutorials using CS5 and when viewing the created animation in test movie or by double clicking the SWF file they would open full screen. However I have followed a different tutorial and created another file using CS3, and this will not go to full screen.
(White bars appear either side of the animation). This has also happened with another animation, on which I have created a butterfly that moves across the stage, when viewing the animation, you can see where the butterfly goes off the stage. (You can literally see it, even though you shouldn't be able to). Making the files the same resolution makes no difference, as I have tried this, and I'm not really sure what to do next. I have even tried opening this newer file within cs5, but this still does not work.

View 1 RepliesI have Flash CS4 10.0.1.545 Mac with OS X 10.5.6: I have the standard Workspace and when I select Import to import an image, the open file dialog in OS X slides down from the top of the stage and the entire Flash window that is holding my timeline and stage moves down about 100 pixels. I then import, then I click the top of the window to move it back up and it snaps back instantly as soon as I click on it before I drag it up.

I'm making an interactive cd in flash, I'm wondering how I can prompt the user with a way of saving video files (.mp4) to their computers.
Ideally they would click on a 'download video' button and then would be prompted with the usual window allowing them to choose where to save the file and name it.
Is there a way to do this within flash?
I've been using fscommand to launch files, can it be used to save files as well?
I have a flash template that I am working on, and have customized it via the XML files. It's an AS3 template. I also have a Flash poll script that I am attempting to integrate into the template. This is where it gets a bit tricky...I have decided to use a modal window (which supports swf files) to open the poll that I am using. If it were as simple as to load the swf file, I would be fine, but the poll also includes XML and PHP files, which I don't know what to do with.
The files included are: preview.swf, preview.fla, the xml file, config.php, edit.php, index.php and then "caurina" and documentation files. What I'm thinking I need to do is include the preview.swf file into my modal window, but I'm not sure what to do with the rest of these files, do they go into a new folder in the main template folder or what?
