ActionScript 2.0 :: Add Action Script Code For Multiple Frames Movie Clip?

This seems a very basic question, but googled for long time... I have a movie clip, at Frame 3 there is only one line of code: stop(); My question is: how can I add it through AS? The instance name is my_mc, more specific, how to refer to the Frame 3 of my_mc?
Another question is the same. The movie clip has two frames, frame 1 is blank, at frame 2 there is a button. After attachMovie, get my_mc, trace my_mc, it is there, trace my_mc.my_button, it says undefined. How can I refer to my_button at frame 2? Then I can define onRollOver function for it.

I am currently working on an assignment that requires me to add sound to a mobile game. This is fairly straightforward in many ways but I wondered if there was any way that I could add multiple sounds to a single movie clip or action?
What I really want to do is to have say three or four different sounds for the sound of a spaceship exploding in the game to create variety and stop the gamer getting bored of the same sound every time they hit a spaceship.

I have an main.swf that loads home.swf on the stage. In home there are mc's that when clicked take you to different frames inside home.swf I need to have a gotoAndPlay eventlistener off a button which would take the user back to frame one of home.the home .swf has 6 frames with different clips in each frame on one layer, text for the back to first frame on another layer, an invisible btn and an actions on two separate layers
first question :
the individual frames are 7-8-9 the gotoAndPlay action is on frame 7 ONLY the button only works when in frame 7 if 8-9 are not individual blanks why doesn't the button work when in frames 8 and 9?In other words can't I use an action that triggers a function assigned to a button that spans across more than one frame?if the button spans across 7 - 8 - 9 and the action frame is on 7 how can I get this to work?

basically im making a quiz on my main timeline ive got my questions and answers and on the last frame i want it to say how many answers the user got right. ive made a movie clip on this last frame. in the movie clip ive got 11 frames with the posible totals so frame one would be 0/10 frame 2 would be 1/10 etc what i want to do is when the user clicks the correct answer on the other frames i want flash to make the frames within the movie clip to go 1 step forward.

I have a button that I want to work on multiple frames. Currently, I have a scene that automatically starts to play when the playhead enters the first frame (no stop command). I have an event listener in the first frame that listens for a click. After the click the user is supposed to go to another scene.
The problem is that the button is not working. I am assuming that the code in the first frame only applies to the first frame and I need to add additional code that applies as the playhead is playing across the multiple frames.

I have a simple movie clip that animates some text and a divider bar. The clip loops which is normal, I want to add a stop action to stop the loop.I have three layers; text, divider_bar, and actions. On the actions layer I placed stop(); on the last frame. This stops the movie clip just fine. But if I rewind and play it again the movie clips stays on the last frame and wont restart. I'm using Action script 2 and have even tried using as 3 with out any luck.

I have a function that counts days and some other variables and displays the values via dynamic text.

I have to place the incrementCount(): function every 12 frames so that it increments the values. Seems like it would be easier to simply modify the script to count "every 12 frames" but I can't find anything that tells me how to "count frames" in flash. Seems to be this is probably basic but I've searched unsuccessfully....so how do you do this. How do I get my script to work so it's frame based so I don't have to put incrementCount() every 12 frames?

you'll notice on their main page, when you roll over section "living" all movie clips below which are "living" projects are highlighted, while others are faded out.I have a vague notion that this is done by creating a series of arrays, one for living, one for learning, one for working, etc etc etc... and then changing whole sale all MC's contained in those arrays upon roll over.First of all, am i correct in this assumption? If so, i really need some pointers to get started. Say i want to define these arrays, and on the press of a button, one directs its movie clips to change alpha to 50, and the other to 100. All of these movie clips by the way are visible on the stage.

I am trying to load a movie clip in a RollOver action inside another movie clip, but I have 2 problems:
1. If I do it with loadMovie("movie.swf") I cannot go back to my previous instance when the movie stops playing, but if I do it with the loadMovieNum("movie.swf", 1), it gets back to the previous instance, but it leaves that instance behind, so it keeps appearing all the time on the back.
2. Even though I see the swf when I publish it from Flash, when I insert the swf in Dreamweaver, I cannot see the swf that I loaded in layer 1. I only see the first layer and nothing happens when I RollOver.

I am not sure what is the difference between externally and dynamically loading pages, but I have created swf files for each of my pages and then a main page that those swfs get loaded into. The problem I am having is: I have transitions between my pages and my movie clip will animate when it is in the page swf, but not when it is in the main file.

I am making a thing on my flash animation with a 3d planet spinning. When you move your mouse over it the planet will stop and contact info comes up, and when you rollOut the planet continues spinning and the contact info fades away. I have everything working but i cant get the planet to stop spinning when i do this because the button controls the fade but the planet is just spinning in the backround, hard to explan. Anyways i need to be able to send a stop and play action to the planet movie clip behind the button to stop. i need to send an action from Scene 1>universal>destinationclip>world. from a keyframe on the destination clip.

I'm trying to make a series of 16 short movies loop infinitely in a random order. I have a master movie clip called "random_mov" that has 17 frames. In frame one is an action:gotoAndStop(1 + Math.floor(Math.random() * 17));Frames 2 - 17 are my individual movies (movie1, movie2, movie3, etc...), one per frame. The code above does seem to work, but it only works once, looping a randomly selected frame forever. I need it to go back to frame one after each movie is complete so it can select another random frame

I have a button action not working to control another movie clip timeline. The movie clip timeline I want to control has an instance name but for some reason it's not playing. The button is on a different movie clip timeline. Both movie clips are on Scene 1. I think there is something wrong with my target path?

and I want to add multiple buttons, not just this one. I figured out by trial and error that I couldn't just consecutively list the instances, I also found I couldn't just replicate the code and change the instance names. I just need to know how to go about having multiple buttons/clips.

I make a button with some animated effects. On main work area I select object and press F8 to convert button with the name of (button1). The Up as it is which I make: w=70, h=50. Press F6 and same button on Over, here I again select object and press F8 and convert to Movie Clip. Here I insert 10 frames, one by one the button extend width and height. On 10th frame the button size 110x90 width and height. To animate and stop the button I put "stop" action on frame 10.I want that if the user's mouse over on button than the 10 frames play as I mentioned above but if the user don't want to click on (button1) than all of these 10 frames play reverse or add more frames and button will go to their original size and place. Is there any script bcuz I am new and don't know about action scripts.

I have my files set up to where a main swf has the main navigation and a container which draws each sub page into it. The sub pages have a navigation as well that was telling buttons where to go on the main movie timeline (with _level0.) I had to move my navigation down in the main swf file so i took the nav off the main timeline and put it in a movie clip so i could move all at once. Now my sub pages on external swfs with _level0.gotoAndPlay("frame"); dont work.
Is there any way to direct an external swf to play a certain frame within a movie clip in another swf?
I've tried changing _level0 to _level1, _root, _parent, _child, and using _root.mc_name.gotoAndPlay("frame"). none of which has worked.

I need a way to copy the content of one movie clip (with many frames) into another dynamically using as3. I have created one mask container and i am filling it with the images from xml i.e. MovieClip(root).myContainer.forward.imageContainer .addChild(myspriteImage). How can i dinamicaly dublicate the movieclip myContainer with all child in it, so i could dinamicaly put ieach image in each container?

create a variable that represents the number of frames in a movie clip? I thought maybe something like var = getProperty(my_mc, frames); might work, but it doesn't. I'm trying to make a "last" button for a template that goes to the last frame in a movie clip, and as we'll be updating and changing the number of frames in the movie clip quite often, I'd rather just have it find the last frame rather than have to update the actionscript every time.

It's supposed to cause each of five movie objects to correspond and go to a different named frame when they are clicked. The problem is that regardless of which one is clicked, it always goes to "animation." I tested it out by changing the name of the animation frame. The result was that it then always went to the "publication" frame. It would seem that it goes to the last valid named frame in the script.[code]...

I have been having some trouble with a movie clip basically designed to act as a button for a store front for a website.This movie clip has, stored as the front of the movie (i.e. before you click in to edit the movie) the following code:
on(rollOver){
gotoAndPlay("Over");

This gives the movie the hover over and out effect and animates the button so as once pressed the button expands to give a 'Product Details' view.However, when clicked the info shows up as it should but the hit area which I put into the Movie Clip is still on the info area so none of the contents on this new window are accessible and when the cursor leaves the designated info area the movie clip returns to its first stage as it would appear at the start of the animation.Is there any simple way to disable the HitArea on specific frames within a Movie Clip?
