ActionScript 2.0 :: Animated Flash Menu - Button Over State Stays If Clicked?
Dec 7, 2008
I made a Flash menu with this tutorial:[URL]The animation is different but the scripting is basically the same. I have animated buttons (They're actually movie clips though) that play one animation on rollover, and a different animation on rollout.
What I want to do, is have the button stay on the over state if it's clicked, (so people know what page they're on) until another button is clicked in which case it would do the rollout animation, and then the new button would stay clicked.
[URL]
But the scripting is different I'm not sure how to make it work with what I already have, and I don't really want to start over completely.
I used the tutorial here: [URL] to achieve the above, which I did. Then I tried putting AS on the buttons I made to import external clips and they stopped working completely. I've tried putting the AS on the main time line as well as on the btn itself, I've even tried recoding the script from the tutorial. I've attached the file which should work to me. if the btn code is deleted from the main timeline the menu acts as it should but doesn't link any where.

I have a menu with five nav buttons (atcually MovieClips). Each has three frame labels: "on", "stay", and "off". The rollover and rollout animations play flawlessly, but I'm at a loss as to how to give each button a sticky "active" state. I'd like the button to stay in it's active state until another button is clicked, then I would like it to play it's "off" animation. Each MC has this code:
i need to know if there's a way to lock button symbols in a specific state once users click them? i have a series of 34 buttons, and they all contain an animated movieclip in their "over" state. problem is when i click on one, they play the "over" state very briefly again before my event happens, and it looks funky. any way to make it so once u click it, it stays in "down" state? i know using movieclips instead of buttons will resolve the problem but i'd like to know if there's a way to do it without converting them all to movieclips,
how to make a button stay in the down position in CS3, Actionscript 3.0?
I have 3 buttons, each with the same roll over state. What I'd like to do is when the button is clicked, it remains in the roll over state until something else happens.
I want to have a button with a rollover state that is different that the out state. I got that part, but I also want to keep the rollover state active if clicked. I can think of a couple ways to do it but I'm certain there is an easier way to do it. I have about 8 buttons and when I click on on I want that to stay in the rollover state, then when I click on another one I want the first to go back to the out state and the new one that I clicked to go to the over state and stay there.
good morning, does anyone have an idea of how i can get the buttons to stay in the over state after its clicked. so the user can tell which tab he is on...i have search for tutorials and i could find is AS2 and i need AS3?
first I made a curcular button which animates when the mouse rolls over it which you can see here: [URL] I have since realised that I want to have the button produce a drop-down menu and I followed and adapted the following tutorial to try and accomplish this: [URL] I ended up with this: [URL]
I had to change bits as I have the initial glowing animation in there too. Im just trying to get it to work at the moment. A Blue box should appear beneath the button (Once I get it working I will change this to an actual button of course) when the mouse rolls over the button (aswell as the glow animation playing). The problem is that the blue box doesnt appear, the glow animation still plays but no box. In other words, it isn't going to the "open" label on the timeline for some reason.
I am using flashvars in my OBJECT and EMBED tags like so:[code]Each layer after that contains an instance (in this example, the instance is named "availability", which is the text of the button), that instance contains the button in an off state and and on state, and the on state contains the instance "availability_anim". In the movie clip this instance represents, there is a frame labeled "a_set".The idea is that if once goes to availability.php?section=a_set, it should display the rollover state of the button exactly at the label, a_set, but it doesn't.
openMenu.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, openSubMenu); function openSubMenu(event:MouseEvent):void { this.openMenu.nextFrame(); } openMenu.closeMenu.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, closeSub); function closeSub(event:MouseEvent):void { this.openMenu.prevFrame(); } stop();
I've got the above code on my first frame, and was hoping that it would open a menu when a button was clicked, and once the button within the MC is clicked it would then close. Hence the nextFrame and prevFrame actions.
I keep getting TypeError: Error #1009: Cannot access a property or method of a null object reference.
I've got an intro for a movie, and a single button appears around frame 58,and I've tried giving it a function so it will skip to fram 478 and play the whole movie from there on:
but it keeps saying "statement must appear within handler" and I've got the same problem when the movie reaches frame 477 I want it to go back to frame 58 and play from there so it would loop all until the button is clicked:
I have an issue with an animated rollover/out state that I have created. I have seven movieclips that I am using as buttons and when rolled over/out play a different frame of the MC and move all the other mc's with an actionscript tween. The code works as it should but when I try to rollover/out of the mc to quickly the whole thing goes haywire and all the clips get out of place. I have tried to disable the buttons as soon as the user rollover on the mc but it doesn't seem to have any effect. I am only posting the code for one of the mc (publicist_btn) since all the code for the rest are the same.
I am currently making an interactive Map, as i rollover to a certain continent, the continent will light up in a yellow highlight, afterward as i click on the continent the box menu will pop up on top of the continent, everything went fine until i browse around inside the box menu( the box menu is bigger than the continent,..wider) cause at one point the cursor will go to a certain area inside the box menu that is not on top of a part of the continent, That's when the yellow highlight went down. I was just wondering how do i make sure the yellow highlight on the continent stays on while i freely browse around the box menu( which is wider than the continent)
I'm recreating an xml menu inspired by [URL]... How to change the menu to a horizontal menu with the same submenu animated dropdowns... so basically, I need the main categories to go accross the top and the rest work the same.
I have 8 buttons made from the same movie clip button with different states (up, over, out and active). Now I want to get the button stay active when the cursor moves to the next button to let the end user know where they've been.
Im using an animated movieclip to create a pulldown menu..the thing is that I want to anymate the buttons inside the pulldown as well..so I therefore used a similar movieclip inside the pulldown menu to make this animation
When I load a .swf into a target movie that I have on my main page, it is all wrong, the slider menu that I have loading into the target movie, does not stay inside target and it seems to reposition the slider menu to the x psotion of my main movie How can I fix this, so the slider menu in the swf stays inside the target movie when loaded?
FLA file is too large to attach, if needed I can attach it in pieces.
