ActionScript 2.0 :: Looping Menu - Go Back To Frame And Play From There So It Would Loop All Until The Button Is Clicked
Apr 10, 2010
I've got an intro for a movie,and a single button appears around frame 58,and I've tried giving it a function so it will skip to fram 478 and play the whole movie from there on:
but it keeps saying "statement must appear within handler" and I've got the same problem when the movie reaches frame 477 I want it to go back to frame 58 and play from there so it would loop all until the button is clicked:
Normally, I want the movie to play the tween that spans from 25 to 35, then stop UNLESS a button has been clicked back on frame 24 - then I want the tween played from 25 to 35 then jump to 46.Problem is, in the button function code, if I have...gotoAndPlay(25); gotoAndPlay(46);the timeline jumps straight to 46 - it doesn't play 25-35. Why?I tried putting a timer in between the two gotoAndPlays, but itignored that too and jumped to 46.o how do I tell it - 'play from 25-35 and stop, unless but_a was pressed back on Frame 24 - then play 25-35, and then play 46' ?
openMenu.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, openSubMenu); function openSubMenu(event:MouseEvent):void { this.openMenu.nextFrame(); } openMenu.closeMenu.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, closeSub); function closeSub(event:MouseEvent):void { this.openMenu.prevFrame(); } stop();
I've got the above code on my first frame, and was hoping that it would open a menu when a button was clicked, and once the button within the MC is clicked it would then close. Hence the nextFrame and prevFrame actions.
I keep getting TypeError: Error #1009: Cannot access a property or method of a null object reference.
I've got about 6 buttons laid out, one on top of the other in a list format. In their normal state the buttons are grey in colour, when I rollover them, the buttons flash and turn to orange. Now, what I need to happen is this: I want the buttons to stay orange once clicked and only roll out back to grey when the user has clicked on another button in the list. I've been told that the best way to do this is via adding a listener, however I am a little unsure as to how to go about this. I've checked the flash help file and have a basic understanding of how listeners work...but can't really wrap my head around applying it to this situation. Perhaps I will need to have all the buttons as separate broadcasters?
This is an if stament on a frame on the root. I want to loop Carrera(a lenghthy movieclip) from frame 2 back to frame 1. (For testing purposes) This is the code:
I'm trying to write an if then statement that will loop back to frame 1 once the next frame it hits is higher than 5. For some reason it doesn't work and I could easily go to frame six and add a go to and play but, I'd like to learn what's wrong instead of doing it the easy way.
I'm trying to create a simple game. Right now I have one button that when clicked moves the character across the screen. My issue is trying to make the player stop looping after I click the button. If I just insert stop for the last frame it will only loop once and stop, but it will not play again after the button is clicked. I've tried using players_turn boolean but couldn't get that to work.
I'm using some modified code from a chapter exercise (from a text book) to play four separate MP3s external to the FLA. Here's an example of what happens when a button is clicked:
On the label 'music1', I have this AS: Code: stop(); song1.onSoundComplete = function() { song1.start(); }
The problem is, there's something of a noticeable stutter when the MP3 reaches the end, just before it starts up again. The first MP3 (contrary to the others), is a seamless ambient sound which ought to sound perfect in the FLA, but doesn't, again, because of the slight stutter in starting it up again. Is there a better way to do this? I thought, perhaps, this would be fixed if I removed the "stop();" line and instead had it play the next frame, which would invariably send it back to the previous one, but this changed nothing. Is there a better method to use? Even with the other three MP3s, which aren't seamless, I want to loop, unless and until the user clicks the 'Mute' button.
I have a Flash website with 3 interfaces( 3 frames with movie clips inside). they have a button that goes to different loaded .html page(text). But once the back button is pushed on the web browser, it always goes back to the first frame instead of the actual last page, which might have been frame 2 or 3.
I am attempting to loop a portion of an animation in Adobe Flash Professional using actionscript 3.0.
I have added 2 extra layers to my project, called "Labels" and "Actionscript".
I have named the Labels layer "loop" and and added a blank keyframe at the start frame of the sequence I want to loop. On the Actionscript layer, I have added a blank keyframe at the last frame of the project and added the following actionscript code:
I have a tall web site that requires browser scrolling.When a button is clicked, the main movie is replaced by another, and unfortunately, the viewer isn't brought back to the top of the page.Here's the site: http:[url].....Scroll down, and click on the purple box that says "Knowledge & Experience."You will see my dilemma.how to make the browser scroll back to the top when a button is clicked?
Have used the preloader at [URL] and it seems to work fine however after the last frame of the movie it appears to flick (quickly) back to the preloader info, note I want the movie to loop continually. Is there a way I can add something that will make the movie loop direct to frame two and miss the preloader?
I have a .swf movie that is accessed through a link on a website. At the end of the movie are two buttons: one for "Back" and the other for "Replay." I have the buttons working so the Back button goes to the previous URL and the Replay button, well, replays. However, the Back button opens a new window. Is there a piece of Action Script 3 that I can add to the following to close the window in my .fla Action Script Window to close the window as it jumps to the URL? Here is the script.
At the end of my SWF video (FLV + XML for closed captions), I want to go back to the beginning of the video, but not replay it...so that when users have finished watching it they have the title page to look at instead of a big black box.
I've got an interesting issue with the actionscript in my file. I've created a slide show with 27 labeled frames - they've been labeled "frame 1", "frame 2", "frame 3", etc... My issue is the first time everything works perfectly, if you hit next or previous. It goes to the correct frame. On the last frame if you click next it should take you back to "frame 1" and basically loop through all the frames again if you keep pressing next. The problem is it goes back to frame 1, and then next doesn't work on this frame. I don't understand what's going on considering the first time around - these frames work perfectly.Here's the code on frame 1:

I'm trying to loop back to the first frame of a movie clip using buttons. The movie clip is on a single frame on the main timeline. The buttons control the animation within the movie clip. The movie clip has three frames, and when I get to the last frame, I don't know how to write the code to go back to frame one, on the forth press of the next button. The code I'm using is below:
I have many buttons in my flash, its function is when a button is clicked it will animate. The problem is when I click the button, it animates, but when I click it again, it does not animate. It should animate again when clicked. Someone told me to have a loop so that it will animate again but I have no idea regarding looping in flash.
Here is my actionscript: stop(); custom_btn.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, custom); function custom(event:MouseEvent):void { gotoAndPlay(2); stop(); [Code] ...... [URL]
Pretend a button is selected - when that button is selected it goes to the active frame which shows that the button is selected. When you click another button it currently resets itself - BUT - I want it to go to and play frame "mouse_out" and than reset itself. Below is the code I am currently working wtih:
Anyway what I need to do is have a movie clip finish playing when a button is clicked and then go to the frame label associated with the button. I hope I'm explaining myself ok. So if I had say 4 buttons Home Gallery About Contact If Contact is clicked then I want the Home page to play (Which is a fade out) and then go to Contact Page (which will fade in). Then If Gallery is clicked then I want Contact to fade out and then go to Gallery page and fade in.
I have two embedded flv's in the timeline, one after the other. There are no errors in the video files. When the "playhead" in the exported swf comes to the end of the two combined videoclips, it jumps back to the first frame of the 2nd video clip for a fraction of a second, before playing from the start of the timeline as it is supposed to. I have explicitly done a "gotoandplay(1) in a separate action layer, at the last frame of the "movie", but that's not what happens.
I'm working on a little project where I have a list of working text I converted to buttons and scituated vertically along the left hand side of the stage. Each button when pressed, triggers a different image with some text. This all works great. The problem is that I have a "Back to Main Menu" button located at teh bottom center of the stage. When depressed, I want this button to clear out the image and text on the stage and leave the user looking at just the original list of buttons along the left hand side of the stage.
I can easily get the main menu button to do this for my first image and text. Here's the code for that:
gbtext_btn.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, playGearbox); menu_btn.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, stopGearbox); function playGearbox(event:MouseEvent):void { gearbox_mc.visible = true;
I have made 30 movieclips for my level selection screen. Then I create a movieclip with the same name using a for loop. With that code I make roll_over function showing a Tooltip. I then want to trace what button is being clicked. My whole code is here: [URL] I want to trace what button is clicked, so I can show it on my tooltip textbox.
I have a menu for a website I'm making that consists of buttons that play a drop-down menu movie clip when the mouse moves over them. The problem is, if the user moves the mouse off the button the movie clip stops playing and disappears. I would like it so that if the user moves the mouse away from the button, the drop-down movie clip will reverse itself from its current position and move back up into the button.I've been trying to use the on (rollout) condition, but it doesn't seem to do anything.
