ActionScript 2.0 :: Background Clicking Through To A Layer Below Error?
Dec 6, 2009
I designed an all flash website and coded in AS2 and when someone clicks to play a movie in my Commercials section, I fade in a solid black background (which is a Symbol - Graphic) and the video (FLV) plays. I noticed that while the video is playing if you click on the solid black background it clicks through to the layer below and sometimes you can click on another button/video. I don't understand this because shouldn't the solid black background which covers the whole screen prevent this click through? Is there some sort of code or something I need to tell the solid black background to not click through.

After moving from Windows XP to Windows 7 noticed this behavior in my Flex application. In IE8 when a user clicks on a link in the SWF file it uses the navigateToUrl api to open a new window pointing to an external site. This works as expected in XP on IE8 . However in Windows 7 clicking the link will open a new tab, this new tab however sits in the background therefore it is possible that it may not be noticed by the user. Also the content in this background tab does not always load fully unless you clear the cache. Has anyone come across this issue with Flex and Windows7/IE8? In the navigateToUrl function i pass in a param of _blank.
I've seen a tutorial for changing the background inside of flash based on buttons to click. However, these colors were palettes and not of backgrounds such as jpeg. What I'd like to do is to create 3 buttons and place them on my flash website. These three buttons allow the user to click on them thus changing the background. So if you're visiting the about page and click one of these buttons, I don't want the user to go back to the home page after clicking.
I ran into an odd problem a week ago that I haven't been able to fix. I'm new to Flash so sorry if this has been discussed but my research has turned up nothing. I'm using Flash Develop. I managed to duplicate the problem in a simple program: I set up one large bitmap for the background, not transparent. I then add another large bitmap on top of that, the second layer background, as a child of the main bg. This layer has transparency so you can see the bg through the trees and such. Then I stack a lot of sprites on top of each other, all with transparency. They can be children of the main bg or the second layer bg, doesn't matter. Where the transparency of the sprites overlap the second layer background disappears completely to reveal the main background (like a window around the sprite stack.) The bitmaps I'm using are from embedded png files.
I found that 23 transparent objects causes the 24th object and beyond to disappear. And it only happens when I have a mask set to the main background (a simple filled square for clipping the child sprites that move off-screen.) Also the problem goes away while the background is moving. My project features many objects near each other so the chance of this problem occurring is pretty high. Its not game-breaking but I'm new to flash and my project is nearly complete (and large) so I'm hoping there is something simple I can do to fix this.
I used the liquid Flash layout file from this site , but i got one problem.I placed the script in a layer called actionscript and on frame 1, under it there is a other layer called background. I placed in just a square with a gradient color and made it a movieclip. I also placed this on frame 1. Everything is working perfect from this point but when i want to place a keyframe on frame 10 in the background layer and make a motion tween so that the background fades in from 0 opacity to 100, it doesn't work.
I am a beginner in actionscript coding and I am getting the error below when I click the "new game" button : TypeError: Error #1009: Cannot access a property or method of a null object reference. at aircombat1_fla::MainTimeline/moveMyfighter()
My code look like this : Code: Select allstop(); scoreDisplay.text=score.toString(); timeDisplay.text=seconds.toString(); Mouse.show(); myfighter.removeEventListener (Event.ENTER_FRAME, moveMyfighter); enemyTarget.removeEventListener (Event.ENTER_FRAME, moveEnemy); newgame_btn.addEventListener(MouseEvent.MOUSE_DOWN, startnewgame); [Code] .....
I am getting this error message every time I click on the interview button. The enter button was clicked! TypeError: Error #1009: Cannot access a property or method of a null object reference. at fl.transitions::Tween/setPosition() at fl.transitions::Tween/set position() at fl.transitions::Tween() at enteramigos_fla::MainTimeline/frame20() .....
I have this on my entre_mc when I double click on my mc I have //Go to the myspace.com website myspace_btn.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK,gotomyspace); function gotomyspace(evtObj:Event) :void{ var thesite:URLRequest = new URLRequest("[URL]"); navigateToURL (thesite,"_blank"); }
On my stage timeline on frame 20 I have var entreTween:Tween = new Tween(entre_mc, "alpha", Regular.easeOut, 0, 1, 2, true); So that when I click on the interview button it fades in.
I'm busy writing this action script, it was suppose to work when clicking on the button: and if you go down up and till line 18....then the computer gave me an error saying; scene 1, Layer 'Actions',Frame 1, Line 18 1086:sytax error:expecting semicolon before leftbrace.
Anyway, what I want to accomplish is as follows:I have a background layer that is an imageI have a middle layer that is all whiteI have a top layer that has a rectangle on itI want that rectangle to see through the white layer to the background. In other words, I want full transparency for the rectangle, but not to the layer immediately below it, but to the background layer
How to solve this error as it will keep popping out whenever I click on the play button of the game I'm creating. TypeError: Error #1009: Cannot access a property or method of a null object reference. at index_fla::MainTimeline/frame2() at flash.display::MovieClip/gotoAndStop() at index_fla::MainTimeline/clickPlay()
I have an .5 alpha layer that I want to fade out when any 1 of 5 buttons is clicked. 1) The alpha layer is on the screen, but its not at 50%, its solid 2) Its not fading when a button is clicked 3) Its not in the right position 4) I am getting an output error message that says:
TypeError: Error #1034: Type Coercion failed: cannot convert flash.display::MovieClip@3f7e34c1 to colorbars. at flash.display::MovieClip/gotoAndPlay() at Colorwheel/goColor()[Colorwheel::frame1:17] (
This code is telling the int_btn to go to the alpha layer frame, which continues thru frames 1 and 8) the code they are referring to is on frame 1 with a button that is also on frame 8 that I don't want the mouse up function to affect the alpha layer. The 4 other buttons on frame 8 should affect the alpha layer. The code on frame 8 tells the mouse up function to fade out the alpha layer:
var colorscreen:colorbars = new colorbars;addChild(colorscreen) //this is working its the alpha layer mccolorscreen.x = 0; //this is not workingcolorscreen.y = 51; colorscreen.height = 513;colorscreen.width = 612;colorscreen.alpha = .5; //not working // all buttons below work but wont fadeout the alpha layer [Code] .....
How do I tell it not to listen to the int_btn on mouse up? Should I be using an array or enter_frame or remove event listener or use all three to achieve my goal of fading out the alpha layer when any of the 4 btns are clicked?
I have drawn intersecting lines. The user can click on a region inside the angle formed by the two lines.When the user clicks inside the area, the small region formed by the arc between the two lines showing the angle should change. How can I do that.the region between the intersecting lines is sprite object to dispatch event listener, but the arc is shape object.
I am doing some research on creating clcikTags. I read a few places that the clcikTag should be on the top layer. That has been fine, but now I want to loop it and I usually put my actions in the top layer. Will this cause a problem? Am I better off just putting my loop action on the last key frame of the clcikTag layer?
Im creating a program that is designed to allow the used to select 3 pictures (movie clips) and print them off on a single peace of paper.
The program works by allowing the user to select 3 graphics (the graphics are actually instructions for various exercises) and then moving the desired movieclips onto the stage. This all happens on a layer named "Content"
So far the program will allow the user to select the movieclips and will move them into place on the Content layer as well as move smaller versions of the pictures into a preview box the only thing it does not do is print. (the most important bit)
Is it possible to create multiple layer masks over a single layer using Actionscript3?Below is the flash effect I wanted to create with masks.First it starts from A and goes to B and C simultaneously.Then from B it goes to H and D simultaneously (the same applies to C).This is how the end result will look like.ps. I need my background to be transparent. I'm embedding it into a web page later.
I can't seem to go to a master edit file that is supposed to show both the body (layer 1) and wing (layer 2) of a flying bird animation. Is there a way to merge these two since I'm planning on shrinking it down and making a lot of birds?He merged the two layers at 14:24 of the video without even explaining how he went to this so called "Edit Master Movie Clip" that seems non-existent on Adobe Flash CS4.
I want to create a simple mask. A white oval on a second layer on top of a bottom layer that just has a word of type. I want the oval to travel from the upper left down to cover up the type. When I create the second layer, create the oval, and choose a distant frame for the "end" of the oval's positioning, my type in the first layer disappears as soon as I press F6 on that second layer. Why? Why is it nuking my first layer?
I have a container MovieClip called Drags where I can drag stamps (other MovieClips)--they are added to the Drags container via addChild. I have a second container MovieClip above that one (display order-wise) call Paint that contains a bmp, and some sprites used for adding a layer of paint.
My question is this: I need to be able to click on the Paint layer when I am above a draggable MovieClip and trigger the MouseEvent for the correct object to drag it around, but the item must always remain below the Paint layer.
I'm trying to do a little comic comedy type video in Flash. I've done an outline sketch with the pen tool of my first character, now I want to color it BUT I want to keep the colors and the outline sketch separated on two different layers. Is there a way I can select the path (outline) on layer A and then colorize it with the bucket tool on layer B? The problem I'm having is that every object I select it automatically jumps to that corresponding layer.
One reason why I want to do it this way is I still want to continue working freely on the outline sketch since it's not fully finished, so that I just can blend the colors out and keep working on the outline, at the same time I want to color it while I go just to see where it's going and to make sure that I'm not wasting my time unnecessarily with trying to do a outline just to find out that it won't work out at the end.
how to do a comic type animation, how to create the characters, how to make them move and talk? It can be a free or paid resource.
I am a beginner when it comes to ActionScript. I am currently working on a Slide Show Pro project. Specifically SSP for Flash (AS3) and Director. I have 4 custom buttons at the bottom of the slide show. When I try to place ActionScript on my Action layer for let's say two of the buttons I get an error that says "Duplicate Function Definition." Here is the code I am using:
I've created a class which simulates an action for example a ball bouncing about a screen thus I'd create it like so:
Code: var Ball1:ball = new ball(x,y);
How would I go about adding this to a loop, in a sense of every frame add another ball till you reach the maximum balls currently after looking in help, google and forums this is all I could find
Is it possible to add layers, re-order layers, move movieclips from layer to layer or specify which layer a duplicate movieclip appears on at runtime with AS3?I am aware of the depth properties and the functions associated with that but it would be easier to have a concept of a layer because I am dealing with masks.I have a nasty feeling I'm gonna be told that layers don't really exist within an swf and that depths and setmask are all there is to work with.
hey im trying to make a mp3 player and when u click on a play btn it plays that song. but i keep getting this output error "Error #2044: Unhandled IOErrorEvent:. text=Error #2032: Stream Error. at slide_fla::MainTimeline/frame1()" this is my code
ActionScript Code: import fl.transitions.Tween; import fl.transitions.easing.*; var slidebind:Rectangle = new Rectangle(3, 3, 159, 0); var loadsnd:URLRequest = new URLRequest ("s1.mp3"); var thissnd:Sound = new Sound();
I want to embed some video into my HTML page. As background I want to use big picture. And above it I want to insert loop video with (i.e.) walking man.So, can I embed video (without flash and any player controls) in page?Can I decode video with transparent background? Is there any codecs which support transparent background (alpha-channel)?
