ActionScript 2.0 :: Create Bulleted List With Flash / CSS?
Jan 11, 2010
I am trying to create a bulleted list in flash that is loaded from an external text file and formatted with CSS. I've found that flash recognizes the <li> tag and that works fine, but I would like to do multiple levels of bullets. Like this but with different bullets[code]...
Is there a way to make a bulleted list in flash with custom bullets? If so, can this be used from within a TextArea in Flex (mx.controls.TextArea) when setting htmlText?
For example: <li>Item</li> <li>Item</li>
The list above will render fine when set into a TextArea using htmlText (versus just setting the text property). The rendered text will have standard vanilla bullets. Is there a way to style these bullets with custom images, like you can in standard HTML/CSS?
I'm making a photogallery exactly like kirupas for a client.I have one text box named desc_txt. The description text for each photo will be loaded into that one box from the XML file. Some of its 2 or 3 paragraphs or in a list. Is there any way that I can have a bulleted list or bold only part of the text or make one word a different color? without having multiple text boxes?
I'm trying to get Flash to display a bulleted list using bold embedded fonts.
What I'm finding is that I can get bold fonts with bullets, but not embedded. Or embedded fonts with bullets that aren't bold, or bold embedded fonts without bullets.
This is incredibly frustrating (as well as annoying).
I'm embedding the fonts in the library and exporting them via actionscript. Here's my code...
var tf:TextField = new TextField(); tf.multiline = true; tf.width = 100; tf.x = 200;
[Code]....
The above code produces the regular font embedded bulleted list.
If I change the bulletTF.font line to bulletTF.font = myFontBold.fontName The font goes bold and the bullets go away.
Creating a dynamic list and associating a picture with each list item. i need the list to be scrollable, and i want the list and it's associated picture to be displayed randomly when the application is re-launched. i.e it doesnt show the same list everytime.
I also what to be able to sort the displayed list items. e.g if the list items is about restaurants, i want users to be able to sort the displayed items by either; district, cusine type and gastro type.
I want each item in a list to change to a totally unique view file. Instead of 10 items in a list all going to 1 new view but with different info being generated I want 10 different view, 1 per item in the list. I can't find any examples of how to do this and I have been tryingo to make it for for a while. This is for a mobile app.
I need to implement a custom cell renderer in a project of mine, I have done some search on google but couldn't find what I need, I need each cell in the tilelist to display 2 icons with couple of labels, I need a good example to start it. If possible I need a way to design the template as a movieclip and pass it to the tilelist for rendering the cells.
I want to create a simple high score list of 10 high scores of a game. From reading the forums I seem to get the idea that flash cannot create a simple text file. I don't have php or asp but do have cgi capability. Does anyone know where I can find a simple cgi-script that will allow me to write the text the cgi receives to a simple text file: game.sco I want to be able to write a single long string to it so that I create a string of values and can load it back in using flash loadvariables. I can create the string in flash... but how do I write it to a text file using a cgi script? the text file would include this string...I already know how to read it and split it to parse it into arrays:
I am trying to dynamically create an xml list.. however when I add in cdata tags it give me an error saying tags must be terminated, even though I'm not using those. It seems like it is trying to read the cdata tags as tags.
var addList:XMLList = new XMLList( "" + "" + personName + "" + "" + personTitle + "" +
[code]....
I read somewhere you have to escape characters, but not sure exactly where.
I am working on an older Flash project created in CS3 ActionScript 2.0 How can I make the pointer cursor change to the hand when hover over a list item?_root.slidePanel.myList'myList' is the list. I have traced out the contents of the List MC and it has a child MC called 'content_mc'. I assumed this was the object containing all of my list items but the only members of this MC I can see (when tracing them out) are 'setRGB' and 'searchKey'.
I want to add a SimpleButton to a list item in a list component. I am getting the CellRenderer for the list item I want and using the addChild method to add the simple button. The button appears in the right spot on the list item but it doesn't function like a button. It's like the contents of the buttons first frame is added to the CellRenderer and nothing else.
Why I have to press 2 times the arrow key down to get a navigation through the list items in a list component of Flash?
Theres any workaround for this? I have a listener for keyboard event that checks if keyCode is equal to 40 if it is then I use 'stage.focus = list', but I have to press 2 times key arrow down to start navigating through list items.
I am new to flash, but the main reason I got it was so I could create an object to put on a webpage. I want to be able to create a revolving website list, with pictures of the sites in the list, like on the main page of this site: [URL]
I have a list of items inside arrays containing names and prices. I want when i click a button it should go into ARRAY1 grab the name, then ARRAY2 grab the price and put it in a container box. If i click the same button again it should update the quantity field. Take a look at the image below. [URL]
Im trying to use a parent child system where when i click the button, it adds a movie clip child that contains 3 dynamic fields, to the main container and populates these fields with quantity based on how many times i click button 1 and then the name and the price will be multiplied by the quantity. If i click button 2 the same process repeats and at the end it shows the total of all items in the list.
hey, i'm trying to create a list by duplicating buttons, and then when these buttons are clicked, they load a movie
so far here's my script in a frame [AS] text1 = "link1"; text2 = "link2";
[Code]...
however this doesn't work too well, the position of new buttons dont really go where they are supposed to go (which should be directly under each other). neither does the entering of the text in the new button work.
I am developing one small demo application. In that i have created one action script class named City which has two fields. cityId, cityName and i have also mapped this class with my backend java class City using tag RemoteClass. at Java side City class contains same fields as in actionscript city class.
I am trying to create a video player with a play list. I attempted to follow the tutorial at UrL...but couldn't get my customized player to work. I have a feeling there is something that needs to be tweeked with my AS but I'm not really sure because I am not a big programmer (more of a designer).URL...[code]

how to create a List components for Nokia mobile. For your information, i have visited the Nokia website about that.[URL] That website also can download the source code and documentation. What the problem is, that documentation doesn't show the tutorial how to add item, scroll the list and so on. Below is the feature of my mobile phone for clarify.
Mobile Phone: Nokia 5800 Flash : Flash Lite 3.0 Feature: Mobile Phone Touch screen
how to use a List components from Nokia. Just to know how to use the code for add the item, delete the item and scroll list.
I posted this a few days ago and am still stuck. I have read a myriad of tutorials on arrays, and still cannot fathom out where I am going wrong. I have commented the code. The story is as follows: I want to be able to create a dynamic list. In the library I have exported for .as a movie clip given the name "nav"
I need to create a scrollable list of buttons. Only vertical scrolling is enough. The main thing is that, the buttons and scroll bar should be custom drawn. One and two dimension of button layout support is needed.
I have created an organizational chart for the company I work for displaying all current employees. Each contact is shown as a button that displays a 'popup' window on rollover. All of this works perfectly. What I want is to create an option to click on each button and the individuals email address be added to a dynamic text field at the bottom of the page.
Just to clarify, I am able to have text entered into the text field on each click, however, clicking on the next button removes the previous text. I want each click to create a new entry in a list. For example: "contact1; contact2; contact3;" etc etc. The end result would be for the user to copy all text (email addresses) from the dynamic text box and paste it into their Outlook "To" section.
I need to create a navigation scheme with a dynamic list of movieclips that cycles, the user being able to cycle through the list left or right seamlessly.For example, say there are 12 items in the list, and at any given time three of them are to be displayed, with the center one being the focus/selected item. If the user clicks on the center/focus item, it takes them to a page, no trouble. If they click on the one to the left of the focus item, the list slides right, with the clicked one becoming the new center, focus item.
So, now say that the three visible items are 10, 11, and 12 in our array. If the user clicks on number 12, the list will slide left, with number 12 becoming the focus, and the goal would be to have item number 1 become the new, right-most item in the display - thus, the visible three would be 11, 12, 1. If the user then clicked on one, the cycle would continue, making number 1 the focus and the visible items would be 12, 1, 2. This should work seamlessly at both extremes of the list.
So in one instance, I have created a single movieclip that contains all of the items in the list, plus four extra at the end, to allow the appearance of seamlessness; when the user got to the end, the entire clip jumped to the start. This works, more or less, but it's clunky and I need to find a better way.
