I need to create a preloader that loads multiple swfs that will be used in my project.
Attached is my file, which is the main swf of my project. All external swfs will be played in this:

The files I need preloaded are:
intro.swf (2.92 MB)
pp_01_candidate.swf (0.75 MB)
pp_02_options.swf (8.49 MB)
pp_03_insurance.swf (1.21 MB)
pp_04_quiz.swf (0.11 MB)

As you should be able to see, it seems as though the Flash file on the left is causing the one on the right to reload upon final loading. The one on the right will reload itself once the one on the left finishes loading.
I have tested the flash files by themselves and both load only once when loaded by themselves. It seems as though one is causing the other to re-load which is just mind boggling to me.
I have the following code that loads multiple images from an xml file. How do I create a preloader that accounts for all the images together and represented by a single progress bar? In other words, if I have four images, I want them to preload with a single progress bar representing the total of all four, and then start the movie after all four have finished loading.

I was wondering if someone could help me. I've spent months looking for an AS2 preloader that does the following:
1. Preloads multiple external swf files into a single movie holder.
2. Starts automatically preloading once the parent file is launched.
3. Contains a progress bar with % downloaded.
4. Can be placed on a "Preload" scene.
Working on the file in Flash CS3, AS2. I've looked at tutorials, scanned the web, etc. And I still can't find the right one, or even how to make one.
I want some AS3 script equivalent to the following script (which I've made-up):
loadallthefollowingswfs.intocache("home.swf", "products.swf", "contact.swf");
I want a bunch of different swfs, all of which are in the same directory, to be loaded into the cache prior to viewing any of the swfs.I would like to put this script into the first frame of an index.swf Upon loading ALL of the swfs into the cache, it will move on to frame 2 of the index.swf and continue forward.
All of the other discussions around the web state to either "have each swf load once it is opened" (I don't want that, I want them all preloaded into the cache prior to viewing any one of the swfs), or the discussions say "you should combine all of the flas into a single fla and just preload that one swf file (I don't want that either, I want seperate fla/swf files). how to load multiple swfs into the cache when accessing one frame of an swf?
I've tried to approach this from several angles, employing several of the tutorials, attachments found in various threads, etc, and nothing has worked. So, please bear me as I ask yet another question regarding this subject.I need to preload 2 external .swfs, one containing animation and one containing sound, and I need them to start playing at the same time. As of now I have a general preloader on the main timeline, but as you might expect, after the preloader finishes, there is a lag while the .swf's are being loaded.thought everything was solved, until a friend of mine looked at it in dial-up, and the preloader just kept looping 10 times before the animation started, so now I'm starting over. Part of my complication I believe is that I'm using loadMovieNum into levels as opposed to loading the external .swf's in a separate container MC (that's what I've noticed most people recommend for this problem), but I tried doing that technique several times with no luck. Right now my main movie, index.fla, has a preloader MC in the first frame, with this AS attached to the clip:

i got this script out of a flash MX book but it doesnt seem to be working. i'm trying to create a preloader with a simple status bar that loads a scene within the same file. the scene does end up loading. but the status bar just says "100% completed" the whole time its loading the scene. is there a flaw in the script or an i doing something else wrong?

View 1 RepliesEverything is embedded in an HTML site. The HTML loads a preloader that then loads the actual flash movie. Inside this movie I created a few buttons, inside a scroll bar movie clip. I want the buttons to load a whole new movie inside the same html. The code I'm using in the button is simply:

}
The problem is that it works beautifully in the Flash movie tester but doesn't do anything when tested inside the browser, embedded in the HTML. I think the problem is that the HTML embeds as an object the first movie, the preloader for the menu movie, not the menu movie itself.
I want to create a preloader that plays a certain amount of frames as it loads the rest of the frames. So, I have labels on the frames basically and need a preloader to play the "loading" frames as it is loading the "content" frames. Does that make sense? I have no idea how to even start this one... p.s. I am using AS 2.0, but if it can be done in 3.0 easier, I can switch over its no biggie

View 2 RepliesI am loading multiple .swfs into multiple .swfs, but the .swf are never being properly unloaded. I thought they were unloading until I started monitoring my Page File Usage and seeing it increase everytime I loaded another external swf.
In using this function to load my content, what would be the proper way/function to unload the content?

I recently puchased the CoverFlow component from here, and it was a mistake. I assumed it loaded swfs for some reason, when it does not.

I've just recently started learning actionscript with most of knowledge coming from this site and others like it. My website loads external swfs by clicking a button. In these swfs is dynamic text and a slideshow. It load the text and images from an xml file. As you click around the website the slideshow stops working properly. I'm not really sure why this happening.

I'm creating a site that loads external .swfs as pages. I have little understanding of how Loaders and instance names work with AS3 (even after reading the documentation), so I'm having some difficulties.
I'm loading the .swfs in a movie clip named "container." I want to replace the contents of "container" with the web page .swf that the user chooses, but I don't know how to write the condition to:
a) check to see if something is already inside "container"b) remove the contents by instance name or method of MovieClip. I'd prefer to remove whatever is inside of "container" rather than switching cases for different instances.

I am currently doing a project that to create a full flash website. The website contains a preloader, an introduction movie, and dynamically loads external swfs when click the menu buttons. I am struggling with the preloader part. My preloader movie does not shown until 50% and disappears at 90%. I have searched for solutions on the internet for days but could not find any. I attached my source file as well as the swf.
View 7 RepliesI've got an SWF that'll be viewed via a webpage, that loads a choice of 7 different web pages/SWFs depending on buttons clicked.The problem is these files are quite big and take a good few seconds to load each, so for each SWF, I created a progress bar on frame 1, that then loads frame 2 (where all the code and content is) once it's ready. The code I used is as follows:[code]The problem is as you can see from is that it takes ages to load the loader! So I end up with a blankurl... screen then the loading bar, then the content. Making the loading screen pretty useless!

I have a preloader and it works fine but as soon as I put a movie clip on to it it either does nor work or loads from 80% onwards.All I want is 1 timeline and then have a movie clip come in on frame 8 or so, but in the bandwith profiler it shows content loading in frame 1 when there is nothing there

that's it.I checked. The movie clip that swfs are loaded into has instance "Cont" other instances are also ok. photo, bio and design are instances of buttons. Bio loads the swf but the preloader is not showing up. Photo doesn't load the swf and preloader at all ;/
How can I create a preloader which does this? I have seen many examples of code to load an external swf, but never something that loads itself.

The other elements are loaded after the preloader finish.Is there some way to load all the scene2 content (the impported files) with the preloader?

I have two SWFs on an HTML page. One loads fine and the other (loaded externally) apparently fails.
I get this from the server:
Error #2044: Unhandled IOErrorEvent:. text=Error #2036: Load Never Completed.
I get this when testing it locally in Safari:
Error #2044: Unhandled IOErrorEvent:. text=Error #2035: URL Not Found.
I don't really understand where the hick-up is... because my paths are actually quite simple. All my flash files on the website are located in the same folder. The first one loads in fine, but the one being loaded into it does not. When viewing the SWF by itself, everything checks out as well.
Every time I try to make one ...the preloader loads with the content instead of playing and checking to see if all the content has been loaded and then continuing.
View 1 RepliesI made a preloader for a specific page on my site and it loads it and all but the scroll gallery i have, which is a movie clip, doesn't work at all, but it works fine if i just play the original file thats being loaded with the preloader. I cannot for the life of me figure it out. I get this output error[code]...
