I want to create a preloader that plays a certain amount of frames as it loads the rest of the frames. So, I have labels on the frames basically and need a preloader to play the "loading" frames as it is loading the "content" frames. Does that make sense? I have no idea how to even start this one... p.s. I am using AS 2.0, but if it can be done in 3.0 easier, I can switch over its no biggie

I used some code made by another user on this site to create falling snow. It works perfectly but there's one problem.I want it to only play for a certain amount of frames, but i dunno how to make it stop or disappear, btw, its my animation is all on one scene.

OK so I screwed up. I didn't plan properly for a project and now the client is saying that the loading time is long (2 mb). Is there anyway I can load just a certain amount of frames and then play them? (External SWF)

I want to make a preloader that begins my flash movie once it has 25% or 50% of the swf loaded. This is what I have on my first frame of my preloader right now:

i've made a game with 2 view so i need to be able to switch between them during it. Instead of making a goto frame 7 on the button on one frame for example and then a goto frame 8 on button on the next frame is there a way i could just put go forward 40 frames for example and apply that to the button on each frame, so on frame 1 the button would take u to frame 41 and on frame 3 it would take u to frame 43.furthermore, is there a way i could make it go back say 40 frames to switch the view back?

Have read everything I can read Have tried everything I that has been posted. And still I can seem to get a simple external swf to load and play using AS3. I have tried numerous ways with the same results everytime Here are a few of the scripts I have tried. What I would like to have happen is to have one main timeline where I load sequentially external SWF files - there is no interaction required - it is a presentation that includes video and other Flash SWF files that I have created. Now I just want them all in one flash file. I had no problems with AS2 doing this, but I'm sure having fits with AS3

the sound is place inside a movieclip timeline on the first frame. its about 600 frames long the sound. the main timeline were the movieclip is situated is only 1 frame long. The main timeline is 50 frames long.I thought if the movieclip was not on the frame the sound wouldnt play.
i have an issue with the sound in the game.ive place a soundtrack on the first frame. its a long sound track. over 600 frames long. I place the sound inside a movieclip due to a large size. My issue i have is it sound plays even on the frames the movieclip is not situated on.when i return to the frame. the sound starts to overlap and play twice which is a bit of a mess and a racket.

there seems to be no accepted method of playing multiple flv using buttons. My latest attempt has me putting multiple instances of the flvPlayback component in different frames and using buttons to navigate to those frames. It works but nothing anyone has posted anywhere will result in removing the flv when you go to a different frame and instance. This was simple in AS2. Load movie to a traget and each time you load a new movie the other one goes away. REALLY goes away.

basically im making a quiz on my main timeline ive got my questions and answers and on the last frame i want it to say how many answers the user got right. ive made a movie clip on this last frame. in the movie clip ive got 11 frames with the posible totals so frame one would be 0/10 frame 2 would be 1/10 etc what i want to do is when the user clicks the correct answer on the other frames i want flash to make the frames within the movie clip to go 1 step forward.

I have a function that counts days and some other variables and displays the values via dynamic text.

I have to place the incrementCount(): function every 12 frames so that it increments the values. Seems like it would be easier to simply modify the script to count "every 12 frames" but I can't find anything that tells me how to "count frames" in flash. Seems to be this is probably basic but I've searched unsuccessfully....so how do you do this. How do I get my script to work so it's frame based so I don't have to put incrementCount() every 12 frames?

Is it possible to have an movieclip of about 50 frames and navigate between these 50 frames? As if u put a marker on frame 10 and one at frame 30 and if u use a button it plays to frame 10 and stops and use another button to go from frame 10 to frame 30 and stop... and reverse if u use the earlier button.

I've been reading a Flash book, and it tries to explain how you can use Action script to create a preloader that will play a movie clips frames based on the amount of bytes loaded. I can't seem to get it to work.

I have a CS5 FLA file with AS 3.0 with the following code for the preloader:

The preloader is in the first four frames -- it's just the background photo, a graphic logo, and the loading numeral text.
Everything runs great the first time it's loaded; then if you refresh the page, the graphics in the first four preloader frames flash on the screen before the movie plays.

my preloader starts at 55 percent. this is because the first frame (if i can trust the bandwidth-profiler) has a size of 32 kb. i think this is strange, because the b-profiler also tells me the film has a total size of 35 kb. after the first preloader frames are some small files with transitions only, and then there is the main frame, which has a size of 18 kb my preloaderframe only contains a small bar and a dynamic textfield, just like the tutorial says... i ve already searched the forums, i found that quite many people have the same problem, but i didnt find any solution... i do not load any swfs dynamically. the only thing i can imagine that could cause that problem is the embed font which i use for the dynamic textfield in the preloader. is that possible?

Ok- so the idea is that when you click a button it plays the movies assigned to the variables gallery & button to the frames mentioned. Then the variables are changed and then when another buttons is clicked it does the same - 'except it doesn't - it does it once then sits there I have to use variables because there's a lot more buttons..but i don't understand why it doesn't work - it seems such a simple and obvious thing to try and do - why is it so HARD???

I have 5 different buttons for the navigation on my flash website.The first page is on frame one.When you click on any of the 5 buttons I want it to play frames 10 - 15 before moving to which ever frame the button 1-5 corresponds to. So:
Click on button 1 > plays frames 10 - 15 > Goes to frame 20
Click on button 2 > plays frames 10 - 15 > Goes to frame 30
Click on button 3 > plays frames 10 - 15 > Goes to frame 40 etc
How do I make this work?
