I'm trying to create a button that plays random frames, and not repeat the frame. Like, if Frame 3 was shown, it won't be shown again. I'm kinda new to Action Scripting.

I want to make a MC-container with a Random Button, each click on the button shuffles the frames inside the MC-container. However, the difficult part is to make it shuffle the frames without shuffling the same frame again - until all frames been shuffled, then the procedure kan start again.

I have 5 different buttons for the navigation on my flash website.The first page is on frame one.When you click on any of the 5 buttons I want it to play frames 10 - 15 before moving to which ever frame the button 1-5 corresponds to. So:

Click on button 1 > plays frames 10 - 15 > Goes to frame 20
Click on button 2 > plays frames 10 - 15 > Goes to frame 30
Click on button 3 > plays frames 10 - 15 > Goes to frame 40 etc

How do I make this work?

I want to create a preloader that plays a certain amount of frames as it loads the rest of the frames. So, I have labels on the frames basically and need a preloader to play the "loading" frames as it is loading the "content" frames. Does that make sense? I have no idea how to even start this one... p.s. I am using AS 2.0, but if it can be done in 3.0 easier, I can switch over its no biggie

I am currently working on a flash game and I only have one major problem left!  I have a series of questions that are each their own movie clip in flash.  I have 13 different questions and thus 13 different movie clips, one for each. The issue I am having is thisDuring the course of a game sometimes a question will repeat itself, and I dont want that. I have tried to make the question selection random and without repeat but have only succeeded with the random part at this point.This is my code for for frame 1:

Ok- so the idea is that when you click a button it plays the movies assigned to the variables gallery & button to the frames mentioned. Then the variables are changed and then when another buttons is clicked it does the same - 'except it doesn't - it does it once then sits there I have to use variables because there's a lot more buttons..but i don't understand why it doesn't work - it seems such a simple and obvious thing to try and do - why is it so HARD???

I have a short movie which consists of 6 MCs. What I would like to be able to do is to start the movie on a random clip and then proceed as usual playing each consecutive MC. The movie then loops back round to frame 2 thus avoiding the random selector code which sits on the first frame of the movie.I have tried three different solutions of AS, two of which I got from a 2008 posting on this site from CBadger and although all versions work in Safari and v1 & 3 work in Google Chrome on the Mac. None of them work in Firefox on a Mac (the 1st version displays but doesn't randomise and v2 & v3 don't display at all) and I have not yet tested them on a PC.Here is the code that I have used for each version on the first frame in the root:

I'm working on a flash content slider thing (i.e. it shows a message and then transitions to the next, and there are buttons at the bottom to navigate to each message). Now I want it to actually stop playing when you navigate to a specific message, instead of continuing to play from there. The problem is there's a fade transition, so I essentially need it to go to the first frame in the transition and play (what it does now), but then STOP once the transition is complete. I don't know how to do this without adding a global stop() to that specific frame, and I don't want to do that because I want it to, by default, rotate from one message to the other.

So i have a website, made in AS2. its very simple- the only AS on the whole site is a few stop commands. and some

commands.. now i have some buttons that all have the above script on them,the only difference being the "1100" number. they all work fine except 1 of them. If you go to the site and click on this problem button it will go to where you tell it , but if you go to this site and click on any other button first and THEN the problem button it will go to a random frame. it usually has about 10 particular frames it goes to but they are never in any order. The real kicker ... is that it will only do this once, after the button has taken you to the correct frame once it will keep taking you to the correct frame, until you refresh the page.

1. starts with 2 guns crossed centered

2. the shoot at the same time and start dragging towards the edges of the screen like this: <------ (center) ------>

3. fill the centerish area with smoke from the gunfire while the guns are moving away

4. as the smoke clears my name appears in the middle

5. then a few more frames of smoke coming out of the guns (i want this part to repeat, only this part though so theres just infinite smoke coming out)

now i'm still a bit fresh to flash. here's what i have down. i got my gun pics and the tilt up when fired and got them to drag away (motion tween). i also got my name to fade in from a frame in the middle to the end. i still don't know how to make the bang, or smoke (then make the smoke vanish), and then have the last few frames repeat.

I would like to be able to call a function from a movie clip so that the function repeats itself over a few different frames without having to be called again. I could have the function call itself according to an "if" statement but I believe that the movie will not go the next frame until it finishes all the cycles. So for example: The function makes the movieclip move over a few pixels but I want it to move over a bunch of pixels so as to give the illusion that it is moving slowly, I To do that the function needs to repeat until the movieclip moves the entire distance, but if that happens all within the function, at least as far as I have been able to figure out,

would this be sufficient? i'm tracing my output and sometimes i don't see anything. is this because it could take a while to iterate through w/out a repetition and that may cause the variable to be undefined during that call of the function?

In AS 2.0, I have an array of swfs that I'd like to play randomly end to end. With the following code I can make the swfs random without a repeat of the same swf back to back. What I'd like to do is have all the swfs play randomly until all have been shown. and then repeat again randomly or load a separate final swf.

From what I've read I need to add a splice function to remove values from my array but I can't seem to make it work. Can anyone tell me what I need to add to this to make it work? Here is my code:

I'm using some nifty code which randomly loads a movie clip with jpegs via an XML file and an image folder. Everything is working great, except, the random function doesn't seem to make it through the entire batch of photos before it repeats images. I did notice their is a method which loads an array but I wasn't sure how to incorporate that.
