I have a short movie which consists of 6 MCs. What I would like to be able to do is to start the movie on a random clip and then proceed as usual playing each consecutive MC. The movie then loops back round to frame 2 thus avoiding the random selector code which sits on the first frame of the movie.I have tried three different solutions of AS, two of which I got from a 2008 posting on this site from CBadger and although all versions work in Safari and v1 & 3 work in Google Chrome on the Mac. None of them work in Firefox on a Mac (the 1st version displays but doesn't randomise and v2 & v3 don't display at all) and I have not yet tested them on a PC.Here is the code that I have used for each version on the first frame in the root:
Array.prototype.shuffle = function() { for (var ivar = this.length-1; ivar>=0; ivar--) { var p = random(ivar+1);
how to literally describe what I want to achieve. But I believe it is an easy achievement for someone who is a little familiar with Actionscript (2).
I have a movieclip with backgrounds that fades in and out as the timeline within the movieclip plays. What I wanna do I place an actionscript at frame 1, before any of the background plays, that randomizes a gotoAndPlay function that jumps to a decided frames out of frame 2, 77, 152, 227, 302, 377 etc.
It should be a problem to use the same actionscript after each background has been shown? If it is, its no problem, doesnt matter too much. As long as the first background that is getting randomized is different each time you visit the website.
I guess its some kind of random array.. but i dont know how to form it, need it for game(dont want same frames repeat its stupid ) And only specific frame numbers(i have motions between specific frame numbers).
I'm trying to create a button that plays random frames, and not repeat the frame. Like, if Frame 3 was shown, it won't be shown again. I'm kinda new to Action Scripting.
i need to be able to make a random selection from three choices. Basically i'll have three seperate .swfs (probably named "1.swf, 2.swf, 3.swf") and also three separate mp3 files (probably named same way).The container .swf will have a function which will probably make a 'random' selection from the three .swfs of which one to load and also make a 'random' selection from one of three mp3 files to load
I am creating a web site for a kitchen company, there are differen images as headers on each page. But on one of the pages they want a flash animation to slideshow their kitchens. The animation is done, but they want it to start on a random kitchen. I have only started using actionscript and am struggling a bit, I've managed to find some coding, but they don't seem to work. What I'm looking for is a code to sit in the first frame to randomly select either frame 2, 12, 22 or 32 to go to and play on from there.
So this is a bit of an unusual problem. I am building an XML based MP3 player. I'm fairly inexperienced with Actionscript, so I copied the code from a friends music player. The code works great - but the player I am making also has 'highlightable' buttons for each song. It is easy enough to get these buttons to highlight when clicked. However, when first opening the player, it opens a song randomly but obviously the song's button is not highlighted. Is there a way to have the player highlight the corresponding button when opening? The cop-out solution would be to just have it open the first song every time. But the random selection could really make returning to the site a new experience.
I'm a designer working in tandem with a PHP programmer on a project where we will display a random image via flash from a selection of images stored on a database. Accompanying this image is a tagline and a path for a button and these variables are sent via a php script. The actionscript then picks up these vars via loadVars and displays them on screen - well, almost.
The tagline is displaying in the dynamic text box with no problems, but I'm struggling with how to display the image in the empty MC I've created (called 'pic') and also to attach the path to the button I've created (called 'projectURL_btn'). I'm fairly sure it's something fairly simple but I just can't crack it.
This is a snippet of some code I'm working on. Currently I have a mc that you press that plays another mc. That mc that reacts has 5 frames, each frame with stop(); on each frame. I do a normal play code because it lets me play through and cycle back to frame 1 after frame 5 (so if I click the mc it eventually cycles back to the first frame and starts the process over again). If I do a nextframe it stops at frame 5, so that's why I use play.
press_mc click on it and it tells mover2_mc to advance a frame and recycles back to frame one to redo the process.Can I tell press_mc to play and skip a frame or to have it play a list of frames that I tell? I can't do a _currentframe +2 because it'll halt at frame 5.
I have 5 different buttons for the navigation on my flash website.The first page is on frame one.When you click on any of the 5 buttons I want it to play frames 10 - 15 before moving to which ever frame the button 1-5 corresponds to. So:
Click on button 1 > plays frames 10 - 15 > Goes to frame 20 Click on button 2 > plays frames 10 - 15 > Goes to frame 30 Click on button 3 > plays frames 10 - 15 > Goes to frame 40 etc
In my movie I have a movie clip that I want to circulate between a random selection of 12 frames automatically. Basically I want the movie clip to load like this.
[code]...
I don't mean exactly this order, I just want it to cycle randomly through the 12 frames. How should I go about doing this?
I'm looking to send a list of variables (say 6 in total) from php to flash and for flash to pick a random one and send it back to php when clicking a button.
I would like it to appear in a dynamic text box. That randomly selected variable needs to be sent back to php on pressing a button.

I recently came across this script which I believe I have used before. However, I can seem to recall how to use it right as I can't get it to work. It is suppose to play the frames at random and not repeat any. Once that takes place I want it continue that cycle over and over. [code]...
created a (what I thought was simple) gallery.I have all the large images on a timeline layer were each image fades in over the course of half a second then stops. I created navigation buttons, next and previous on each frame that are supposed to navigate to the next image. The action script for the nav buttons is different depending on which image (frames) you are on. However, when I publish the swf the next and previous buttons don't go to the frames I prescribe for them in Actionscript, but just go to random frames in the timeline. Also, I have a series of thumbnails that have actionscript that navigates to pictures/frames when clicked so I don't know if they are interacting badly. Does anyone have any idea whats going on?Here's an example of the AS for the previous and next buttons (instance names prev_btn and next_btn):
prev_btn.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, navback1); function navback1 (event) {
i dont want to include first 2 frames when this runs..and also is there any way by which we can avoid repeatation of the framescoz when this runs couple of time same frame gets Repeated:Following is a code:
var randomFrame; var numFrames; numFrames = _totalframes;
commands.. now i have some buttons that all have the above script on them,the only difference being the "1100" number. they all work fine except 1 of them. If you go to the site and click on this problem button it will go to where you tell it , but if you go to this site and click on any other button first and THEN the problem button it will go to a random frame. it usually has about 10 particular frames it goes to but they are never in any order. The real kicker ... is that it will only do this once, after the button has taken you to the correct frame once it will keep taking you to the correct frame, until you refresh the page.
I'm trying to make a series of 16 short movies loop infinitely in a random order. I have a master movie clip called "random_mov" that has 17 frames. In frame one is an action:gotoAndStop(1 + Math.floor(Math.random() * 17));Frames 2 - 17 are my individual movies (movie1, movie2, movie3, etc...), one per frame. The code above does seem to work, but it only works once, looping a randomly selected frame forever. I need it to go back to frame one after each movie is complete so it can select another random frame
I want to make a button that makes you got to a random frame within a certain range (eg frame 41-50) when you press it. I have tried various codes but so far no luck. Im using AS 2 and the button is within a couple of movie clips, but you can still click it when you test
So I have a movie with 20 frames...on each frame...there is a question...so I want the user to access that pool of questions...when it pops up...it will randomly choose a Frame to go to...Now...how do I go about...when that Frame is chosen...take it out of the pool of the random questions...so it doesn't land on that frame again...I'm thinking with variables maybe...but I actually don't know how to even begin to write the code for that.
I'm trying to figure out the basics. Right now I'm just trying to make a flash sequence that continues to jump randomly from frame to frame without stopping.
I ve recently done an animation that shows 4 different images when any of 4 corresponding buttons are clicked. This part works ok, but Im currently stuck on how to go about creating a function that scrolls through each of these 4 images in sequence from 1 - 4 without clicking any of the 4 buttons.This is the actionscript code so far:
stop(); btn1.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK,play1); function play1(event:MouseEvent):void{[code].....
