View 1 Repliesi tried the tutorial that teaches you how to create a preloader....i followed the instructions and it still doesnt work! what's wrg?[code]on my first frame actions....i put the "gotoAndPlay (36)" cause i tried a previous preloader that took more than 1 frame and didnt want to change my button's "goTo" frames...but i figured it wont change anything..anyways, i put that line of code as my first frame action....by double clicking the timeline..then i create a symbol for that frame 1 and created an animation.

I'm trying to create an url to a word inside a dynamic textbox but I'm not sure how to do that. I'm familiar with TextFormats, etc. but that only apply to the textbox and not to a word or a sentence inside that textbox. Or have I been misguided??

I'm trying to make a volume button for my site and it looks something like this:

i want the volume bar to start filled and when the user hits the minus button it lowers the volume and when it hit plus it takes the volume up well when I go down and up the volume bars start to get crazy...it just works when I go down the whole way and after it goes up the whole way, when I change direction on the midle of the path it jumps some bars...

My xml snippet looks like this:

ive got the following code. bevvy is a movieclip, theres a dynamic text box called feedText nd a box.. imaginately called box. I'm trying to create a drag and drop game when the user drags a word into the box that will have its meaning beside it in a text box, the dynamic text box will tell them if they are right or not. if they are right the word stays, if not the word will go back to its original location. the dynamic text box will give feedback whether they are right or not.
the code below means that the word will stay in the box, but the text message is displayed all the time. i also have a reset button to make the word return to its origal location but id rather not have the button.

I have been building a simple word game. It is smple but works fine. I am now trying to enhance some of the features.I would like to see if I can display one letter of each word so the Player has a hint. Think of this as a beginners level.The words are random from a text list. Either I can make the letters invisible and the game starts without a hint or I am able to select a letter using charAt() or creating a new variable substring()from the word which is the displayed repeatedly on the stage(not what I want) I have not been able to find a way to display one letter and display it in the correct order within the word and keep the remaining letters invisible.

I have 10 dynamic text fields inside a movieclip, which are populated via an XML file. However, the xml file sometimes has less than 10 items. It never has more than 10. This results in the following error, which is normal. I need the code to count the amount of items in the XML file and then create a for-each loop. I can visualize it, but I don't know how to write it. Basically what I need the code below transformed in to is this... (notice the #'s)

I am doing drag-the-word quiz. When you match the word with correct part, the message pop out, saying Bingo! If the word is matched with wrong part, the "Sorry. Try Again" message pops out, says "Sorry. Try Again". I managed to make the "Sorry. Try Again" message disappear. However it dun work anymore after that. Sometimes it is quite funny. When I play it, the "Sorry. Try Again" message dun pop out at all.
Another problem - I am not sure how to make the word fit into the white box. I only know how to make the word drop on the white box. Can you tell me how to do it? I will be adding voiceovers to the quiz when the word is matched with the part. For e.g it will say "bingo" or "Sorry. Try Again". How to attach the voiceovers to it?
I've created a timer to count elapsed time on a flash player of mine, I can't figure out how to control it though. For example I need the pause/ play buttons to (you guessed it) pause and continue the count.The dynamic text field that keeps count is simply called "count" and the pause button is btn_pause and play button is btn_play

This works great for my use, but now I am trying to figure out how to make it count down. I've tried changing everything to opposites like count=1250 and maxNum=0 (I think this would be the minNum instead), count+=num to count-=num, and count>=maxNum to count<=maxNum.

Whenyou highlighted a word in the past such as "null" it use to pull upthe word and the info in all the books. Now all I see is a webbrowser that doesn't do this for me. I have created a video in After Effects that I exported to an FLV movie. I would like to use it as an intro for my website but I would like to have a preloader for it... I don't need anything complicated, a 'youtube style' little circle thing would be totally fine.
Now I tried an Action-Script-two-frame preloader. It works but when my video finally plays, the sound is not synchronized with the images; which is kind of annoying as I used visual effects that need to be synchronized with the music and sound effects. Would anyone would have some simple AS that I could use for that.
Let me exlain my issue.I have a 3mb size swf file. I want to publish it in a webpage.When I access this file in site, it take lot of time to downoad, so I need a progressbar till the whole file gets loaded in to webpage.
