ActionScript 2.0 :: Creating Flash Rollover To Change Background Image

Jan 5, 2010

I'm looking for a very specific tutorial, Basically I want to create a flash 'rollover, image background change type thing' which I will display photos on. A very good example of what I mean can be found here:[URL]. You will see 6 small thumbnails which, when you mouse over them, change the background image to match. My design, I want to be a lot simpler. If you look at the following image you should see what I'm after: [URL]. 5 small thumbnails on the left, when you hover over them, they animate and the big 'red' rectangle changes to display the image.

ActionScript 3.0 :: Rollover A Button Control A Background Image?

Jan 28, 2009

I am trying to create a site with a 3D background image (which I converted to a MC). I created 2 buttons that, when rolled over should move the background image ('bgMC') to pan either right or left (depending on if the user rolls over the right button or left). I've attached the code I'm using below, if anyone has a better code or knows how to use btnRt or btnLeft to make bgMC pan to the X,Y coordinates in 'goLeft' and 'goRight'.

Actionscript 3 :: Creating A Complex Flash Rollover In Stages (loop > Rollover Animation > Timed Animation)

Jan 24, 2012

Okay, now things are getting a little complicated. I need to build a Flash object that can sit over the corner of an image to serve extra content. It's way beyond my Flash skill level, my work is usually limited to print work in Photoshop and Illustrator so please excuse me if any of the following isn't clear. I am trying to learn though, So this is how it's all supposed to work, along with my issues; When the image & Flash item load a small looping animation will play to draw the eye/show the item as interactive.

When the user rolls over this the corner will peelback. I have a working peelback animation for the rollover, that reacts to mouse over/mouse off, and a looping animation for the initial, but I cannot work out how to make the initial loop until mouseover, then play the peelback when the mouse is over. And go back to the initial animation loop if the user rolls off. (Each of these animations is stored as a movie clip in the Library)
Then it gets more complicated... if the user stays on the corner until it is fully peeled back I need to make a small countdown (sort of a 3, 2, 1 situation) show, before launching a lightbox (would this have to be jQuery, or could it be done in Flash?) in the browser to serve the content.

ActionScript 3.0 :: Change Background Image Of A MovieClip In It?

Oct 15, 2009

I have the following package[code]...

1. The class instantiates and adds a number as text on top of the image that I created the MovieClip class from

2. As the main class of the fla rotates images it calls the loadItem() function of each corresponding button.

3. That function starts the timer and, on each tick of the timer, the background image changes.

What is happening right now with this code is that the new image (that I want to be the background image behind the text) is coming in on top of the text.

Is there a way to simply replace the image currently loaded into the MovieClip.

Flex :: Change Gaps To See Background Image Between Items

Jun 20, 2011

I have created a tile list with custom item renderer and in terms of functionality it works as it should. I reduced the width and height of the item renderer to 95% which then shows the tile lists background in the remaining 5% of that item. The problem is that only when I hover over the item, the background is covered up and I cant get a gap to appear between items. Is it possible to change the height and width of the hover over?

Flash - Creating Background In Games?

Sep 10, 2010

What are the best (considered by professionals) approaches while creating a platformer based game for Creating game levels & background (static ones).Create a single background and scale it?or Display it on-the-fly by loading objects (probably repeating them often).

If the first one is the choice then it would become essential to create each level manually of the game & putting level editors difficult.
Also if the later is the choice I find it too processor intensive....my frame rate almost breaks into half, while trying to manage so many objects together on screen.

Flash :: Client - Side Image Processing - Creating A PNG Image From A PDF File

Feb 1, 2010

We're building a web-based application that requires heavy image processing. We'd like this processing load to be on the client as much as possible and we'd like to support as much platforms (even mobiles) as much as possible. Here's the info: Image processing is rasterization from some data. Think like creating a PNG image from a PDF file. We don't have a lot of server power. So client-side processing is a bit of a must.

So, we're considering: Flash - most widespread, but from what i read has lackluster development tools. (and no iPhone/iPad support for now). Silverlight - allows us to use .NET CLR, so a big ++ (a lot of code is in .NET). But is not supported for most mobiles ( rumored android support in the future) HTML5 + Javascript - probably the most "portable" option. The problem is having to rewrite all that image processing code in Javascript.

Clarification: I don't need further ideas on what libraries are available for Silverlight and Javascript. My dilemma is choosing Silverlight means no support for most mobiles choosing Flash means we have to redevelop most of our code AND no iPhone/iPad support HTML5 + Javascript we have to redevelop most of our code and not fully supported yet in all browsers choosing two (Silverlight + Flash) will be too costly Any out-of-the-box or bright ideas / alternatives

Change A Background In Flash?

Oct 25, 2009

I am attempting to change the background of a pre-developed slide show a client sent over. In the attachment the original background is gray (called "back"). I want to change it to the background called "bluebg". It works (somewhat) when I import it to the same layer that the gray background is on and convert it to a movie clip, but it covers up the navigational buttons on the top right side of the movie. It appears that these pieces are a part of the background and not on their own layer, but they are clearly flash elements required to make the show work properly, so I am unable to replace the background with the blue and keep those navigational items. Can someone take a look and tell me what I could be doing wrong? Or better yet what I can do to achieve the feat of apply the new blue background?

Creating An Animated Background / Flash Animation - Multiple Looped Animations

Oct 27, 2011

I'm creating an animated background/flash animation, in short I have several tweened pieces all moving/swinging around and I want them all to loop at the end of their individual loops. Each piece is on its own layer) I have been using gotoAndPlay(2); (I'm using a preloader so frame 2 is the start). The problem is (If I'm correct here) is the first layer to reach the end runs the "go to and play" resetting everything!. I want each layer to act independantly. Is there a different version of gotoAndPlay(2); that will work or am I looking at things like nested animations/importing individual fla's ect (all of which goes over my head).
