ActionScript 2.0 :: Direct LoadMovie To Start At Particular Frame
Oct 2, 2003
Is there any way to direct a loadmovie to start at a particular frame when you use loadMovieNum? I have an introduction frame i'd like users to avoid. I loaded the movie into 0 level so that it could function with all the processing speed. alone. However when the user returns to the main movie I'd like them to skip intro and go to frame 15.
on (release) {
loadMovieNum("introd.swf", 0);
}
Is it possible?

After i look in kirupa foruns(and others) i found lots of information about how to load a movie into a container, making that the movie starts in a specific frame label.
I have 2 movies, the fist one "main.swf" contains the "container", the 2nd "teste.swf" contain the frames labeled like "F1", "F2" "F3" "F4" and "F5".
I'm trying to broaden my horizons with it and so I'm trying to do an update of a quiz program my employer has. Everything has worked well, except for the timer. The button that starts the game has two options, "study" or "exam"; if the study is selected, there is no countdown, just the score keeper. If the exam option is selected, the timer is show (counting up). But, press "Start" and while the quiz begins, the timer, in either case, does not.
I'm going to post the actionscript for the timer that was already there, as well as the start button. I'm hoping someone can explain how this timer is supposed to work and why it's not; and where the disconnect lies in pressing the start button and making it run.The timer is embedded in a movie clip, with two dynamic text boxes, that are for some have no instance name; and actionscript spread out over several frames.Frame 1:
what happens is I have a movie that play out to a lets say frame 299 then 3 buttons will show up on the stage. now when I press button 1 it will start playing a movie starting on frame 300. How can I direct that movie to go back to frame 299 once it is finished playing so I can choose a different button?I know I can add another button at the final frame to do that but I'm not sure if I want to go that route.
Have used the preloader at [URL] and it seems to work fine however after the last frame of the movie it appears to flick (quickly) back to the preloader info, note I want the movie to loop continually. Is there a way I can add something that will make the movie loop direct to frame two and miss the preloader?
I'm having a problem looping through my timeline, I want to use JSFL to hit each keyframe, perform an action (in this case breakapart, but thats a different question on a different thread) and then go to the next keyframe.
[Code]...
JSFL has proven to be the utter bane of my existence. I'm still relatively new to AS in general and AS3 in specific, and this is my first foray into the world of JSFL. I need to learn how to create this tool for work, and I am the only person here with any experience in javascript, so I'm pretty much on my own.
So I made a ridiculously long Flash animation, but now I have to break down to certain parts. It's all made in one scene.
My question is can I start the playhead on a frame other than frame 1. Say frame 595, I've tried gotoAndPlay(595);, but to no avail. I've searched for a good 2 hours on this too. Is something so simple not possible in Flash?
I have run into a snag! I cant target a specific frame after loading swf file.I m creating a continuous slideshow with five separate swfs (movie01.swf , movie02.swf... etc) which load sequentially into one empty movieclip (named - mainMCholder) on the root timeline I control the loaded swfs with 2 buttons next and previous.These buttons simply move up or down a frame (nextFrame/prevFrame) .if I load movie02. swf into my empty movieclip and I m on frame 1 (of 10) and choose to back up to the end of movie01.swf (which would be frame 10 of movie01.swf),I end up on frame 1 of movie01.swf. Unsure why I cant move to last frame of a loaded movie?
//This is the code I've used loadMovie( movie01.swf, "mainMCholder"); mainMCholder.gotoAndPlay("lastframe");
I know there's been a million "how do I load a movie and than jump to a specific frame" thead. Well all of those have been helpful :: HOWEVER I wouldn't be posting because I can't seem to get my script to run successfully First the background I have a nav. menu made up of seprate movies clips :: inside each movie clip is four buttons :: these buttons are shown using a rollOver, rollOut dealy
anyway when you click on one of the buttons it calls "student.swf" to load into an empty MC called content.I've tried everything :: What happens is the button will load the MC but will sit on the first frame and do nothing :: the movie clip "student.swf" is not that big so I doubt I'm waiting for it to load.
I tried this code but doesnt work properly, anyone has a solution? i need to load different swfs in the same MC depending on the frame, i have placed the simple loadmovie code in each frame with the different swfs and it works but i would prefer to keep the code in 1 frame. This would be even better if using labels instead of frames.
I know. This topic has been addressed several times in various posts. And I've read and tried all of them, however nothing seems to work. I'm not sure if due to the circumstances...I'll explain.
I have made 2 files: main.swf and products.swf. A button in main.swf has the following code:
on (release){ _root.loadMovie("products.swf"); }
This works great, but what I really want to do is go to frame label "Range" in products.swf. A note of explanation: I'm not trying to load products.swf into a container movieclip, I want to replace main.swf with products.swf and go to Range label.
Basically this script works just fine and loads the appropriate movie. The transistion exit frame also works correctly. What I am trying to do is load the movie site_services.swf and jump to frame label "database" after the preloader. I was attempting to use _root.contents.FLabel = "database"; to set the variable.
on (release) { if (_root.currMovie == undefined) { _root.currMovie = "site_services";

I did a MC called "bgproducts" on the root frame no:46 to 59 then stop(); and in this MC, you have an animation and stop at frame no :64 then stop(); in the frame 64, i have another an empty MC called "productsMC". when i do this code in bgproduct frame no 64 : productsMC.loadMovie("main.swf", ""); it plays the frame on the root 46 to 59 non-stop and nothing to loadmovie, and also the main.swf has a preoloader then frame 2 an load from xml file.
I have this movie [URL] its for a mates building company ok here is my problem (i will explain it to the best of my abilites) i have 3 buttons which each load 1 seperate SWF into an empty movie clip eg. servicesbutton loads services.swf into contentsMC that is fine that is working fine my problem occurs when the loaded movie button is clicked on again... it resets the loaded SWF back to frame 1... how can i make the loadmove command abit more cleverer? like dont load the movie if its already loaded?
I have tried gotoAndStop and gotoAndPlay, but both somehow disable other actions I have setup on the timeline, like on the website I'm making, 3 buttons, "Home / About / Info" it disables buttons from switching frames, very odd.
somehow I miraculously created a Flash movie and successfully uploaded it to a blog
here is the blog, the flash video is in the left column, top:
[URL]
you will see that the first frame of the movie is actually all white, with a logo/banner across the top
all I would like to do is skip over, or delete? those few frames in the beginning, and have the flash video display and start the movie from a different frame.
this is taking me DAYS to figure out....hours that I am not getting paid for....my client's video guy never returns her calls, and so I, the lowly graphics designer, am trying to figure this out.
SURELY there must be a simple way to tell the video:
"hey....skip over the first ____ frames, and start the video at frame 5______ (or whatever).
I'm in Flash CS3 and I know NOTHING about Flash and very very little about code
I want to use the same flash file on multiple pages on my website, but on some pages, I don't want the first two scenes to play-- they are introductions & a preloader, and I figure this would be smart to use the same file if the logo is already in the viewer's cache. I have my animation set to gotoAndplay a frame after the introduction, so I want to start it after the intro on other pages.How do I embed an animation to start at a different frame than Frame 1?

how you properly start a movie on a frame other than frame1. The simplest answer is to enter gotoAndPlay(2) in the actions panel of frame 1, however when I do that and embed it into a website, the movie starts on a randomly-selected frame every time I strike the refresh button in a browser.
I'm using Flash CS4 and obviously ActionScript 2. I'm embedding the SWF into an HTML document using Dreamweaver CS4. Standard code -- no modifications to whatever Dreamweaver throws in there to embed flash, other than I have the wmode set to Transparent and am Publishing the SWF accordingly. Could this be interfering somehow?
Is there a way via HTML I can have the movie start at a specific frame rather than upload another instance of the same SWF? I have multiple pages that all need the same flash but playing at different frames per page, and I'd rather not upload multiple instances of the SWF to achieve this. Then again, if it's the only way, I'll have at it.
