ActionScript 2.0 :: Duplicate A Nested Movie Clip And Then Placing It On Top / Root Level?

Feb 12, 2009

I'm sorry if this post breaks forum conventions, but I searched and didn't find a solution in past posts.

I'm writing a function that highlights components of the animation I've created.

It does this by creating a white box on top of the entire stage, tweening it's alpha value from 0 to 80, and creating a new instance of the movie clip to be highlighted on top of that white box.

I run into a problem when I need to highlight components that are movie clips nested within ones on the top/root level.

When I duplicate instances of nested movie clips, they just exist within the movie they were nested in.

I want to pull those duplicated, nested movie clips into the root area so it rests on top of that white box I just mentioned. How do I take a nested movie clip and pull it out of it's parent onto the top/root level?

I have a movie clip on my main timeline that I want to send to a certain frame based on a variable that can be set from a nested movie clip, and also set from an external swf that will be loaded into the main timeline.So how would I set that variable? In AS2, I would just go _parent._parent...as many levels up as I needed to, but the AS3 equivalent only seems to work one level up.

ActionScript 2.0 :: Loading Frame 1 Of Root Timeline From End Of Nested Movie Clip

Jun 25, 2009

I am building a small banner, which ideally will have a random string of text fade in (long enough to be read), then fade out...to play another random text.

Each of my texts have been built as movie clips... they fade in, stay up long enough to be read, then fade out. At the end of this, I need the movie to go back to frame 1 of the main timeline, as I am using the following script:

Code:
_root.onLoad = function() {
//generate a random number from 1 to 11
var nRandom = 1+Math.floor(Math.random()*12);
//tell timeline to goto and play the random number 'nRandom'
gotoAndPlay(nRandom);
};

Each of my text movie clips are on a different frame, so I need to call a new random _root frame to play from within the movie clips. So far, all that is happening is whichever movie is chosen to play, goes in a loop.

ActionScript 3.0 :: Crossdomain Policy File On Root Level Cannot Be Deployed On Root Level?

Jan 14, 2009

Situation:

- We have a Flash application located on a SAP EP (let's say ep.x.com)

- We have a SAP ABAP Application (Webservices) on a SAP WebAS
server (abap.x.com)

- Clarification: This is not about Flash islands / but a normal Flash application communicating with WebAS ABAP via WebServices

Problem: Due to the changed security policy in Flash 10 this scenario does no longer work.

- A crossdomain policy file on root level cannot be deployed on root level

- The WebServices http/s headers cannot be modified, since the WebServices are generated by the WebAS IDE.

Comment: Technically there is a way to patch a WebAS ABAP,but this is not a practical / acceptable way in a normal SAP WebAS infrastructure.

Conclusion:- The above scenario (Flash from EP content / WebAS ABAP as backend) is a quite normal scenario in the SAP world.

- SAP / Adobe always features the close relationship between their technologies.

Question:- What could we do?

- How does the Visual Composer works around that problem?

ActionScript 2.0 :: Placing Movie Clip Inside A Movie Clip Symbol?

Feb 27, 2008

I'm loading an external image into an empty actionscript movie clip (holder1) using MovieClipLoader(); on frame one of my movie and is invisible. Then when the movie plays, there is an empty movie clip symbol (image1_mc) that is placed manually on the stage within another movie clip symbol (flash_mc), and is also on a bottom layer of a mask layer which is animated. Is it possible to place "holder1" inside of "image1_mc" so that I can treat it as if it were an embedded image? In other words, have the image in "holder1" inside of the manually placed movie clip symbol "image1_mc" so that I can use it like a regular symbol on the stage?

ActionScript 3.0 :: Movie Clip On Main Timeline Receiving Input From Nested Movie Clip

Feb 23, 2011

I've got a main timeline .swf file called "blank.swf" which contains nothing but two blank movie clips one called called "pproduct", the other called "ppalette". In the script frame of this main timeline I use the simple "Loader = new Loader();" method to load a URL of an .swf file into the "ppalette" movie clip. The "ppalette" movie clip contains several color chip buttons, each of which use the same Loader method above to load an external .swf into a clip. Here's what I want to do: let those color chip buttons, when the "blank.swf" file loads, be used to load an .swf movie into the "pproduct" clip on the main timeline. I'm wanting to be able to swap depths with various movie clips which will take out the movie which has the palette, but I want whatever that palette has loaded in the original "pproduct" clip to stay there.

ActionScript 3.0 :: Placing A Different Movie Clip Every 30 Degrees?

Aug 7, 2011

I've been asked to make an Analogue Clock with roman numerals. Our tutor has decided to make us to it the long way round, and use AS3 for everything.

So, the rotation works for one image, "the number 12" and rotates a new copy of itself every 30 degrees. But how do i get it so that every 30 degrees, a new image is placed at that angle? Therefore "12" then 30 degrees "1" etc.

ActionScript Code:
for (var i:int=0;i<=12;i++)
{
var angleDegrees:int = 30* i; //so we get angles from 0 to 330
var radius:int=170; //you can set this to whatever you want

ActionScript 1/2 :: Placing Xml Menu Items Inside A Movie Clip

I have a basic XML menu that dynamically attaches the menuItem instances to the stage. They are being attached to the root timeline, but I want to put all of the actionscript inside a movieclip called "menu1_mc". I am having some trouble with the proper syntax, because when I move the code inside of the movieclip, I can't get them to attach to the stage unless I still reference _root. I'd like them to attach at (0,0) of the menu1_mc movieclip.

ActionScript 2.0 :: Duplicate Movie Clip Inside Another Movie Clip?

Id be grateful if anyone can answer what should be a simple problem. Im building a Flash program that has many movie clips (like they all do). At one stage I need to duplicate a specific movie clip and make it appear in another movie clip.

PS: The movie clip needs to be added by actionscript as it is made on the fly in the program, hence it cant be in the original .fla file if that makes sense.

ActionScript 3.0 :: Dynamically Placing Movie Clip At The Angle And Global Position Of A Mouse Click?

Sep 23, 2009

Does anyone know the code for finding the global positioning of X & Y co-ordinates of a click of a button which is constantly rotating, and then secondly the code for when you click on the button it displays a movie clip on top of it -(position of x & y when clicked) at the angle that you clicked it,so underneath the buttons are still rotating so other people can click them where they are?

to explain the context, I'm trying to design a mock up of a circular interactive table Dynamically placing movie clip at the angle and global position of a mouse click (button) which is constantly rotating.when someone comes up to it and clicks on one of the buttons that are moving, it reads where the person clicked it and opens up a new box (movie clip) where they clicked it (at the angle) so its not upside down if you are at the top.

I've included my .fla file which shows the four buttons moving and a little diagram explaining what I'm trying to do.

ActionScript 2.0 :: Duplicate A Movie Clip Into Another Movie Clip?

Feb 24, 2005

Is there a way to duplicate a movie clip into another movie clip?

So far I have only been able to get the movie clip to duplicate itself within the movie clip it is already in though I am calling the duplication from another movie clip (which is where I want it duplicated into).

Basically I have pictures (as movie clips) in a scroller. When you click on a picture I want it to duplicate that picture into another Movie Clip outside of scroller on the _root level. This outside movie clip is actually calling the duplication using onClipEvent(enterFrame). So far, though, it only duplicates itself into the same movie clip and so this duplicated picture also scrolls with the scroller (which isn't what I'm wanting).

Here is the outside movie clip's actionscript:

Code:
onClipEvent (enterFrame) {
//tried the below line as well:
// duplicateMovieClip(showPic, "previewPic", 0);

[Code]...

The above code (using either duplicateMovieClip methods) places the duplicated movie clip at _root.showPic instead of the outside movie clip.

Actionscript 2.0 :: Find What Level A Movie Clip Is On?

I am confused because I am not even using external swf's so there should be no levels

I have tried finding the level using

_root.moviename

_level0.moviename

but when i try to assign this to an array variable it outputs as undefined.I have been able to put some other movies in arrays using _level0.moviename

but these movies are nested inside a main movie that is found on the main timeline.
