ActionScript 2.0 :: Dynamically Loading MovieClip On Top Of Other (Popup)
Aug 30, 2008
I have a main MC, on which I have a button which dynamically loads another MC on top (like a popup). On this popup, I have a close button, which works. On the popup, I have another button which dynamically loads another MC on top of popup #1. I cannot get the close button on popup #2 to close just that popup, it either does not work at all, or closes both #1 & #2 at the same time. I know it has to do with hierarchy, but just cannot grasp this method.
Attached is the code & files.
Code:
//pop1 MC
//load mcPop2 on top of pop1 and main
var parent:MovieClip = this;
btnPop2.onRelease = function (){
[Code] .....

Imagine a database with a table of some items. Each item has 5 images inside and some other fields. In flash I have a page that duplicates all the items and shows them by thumbnails and a view button for each item. The movieclip that does this is for convenience movieclipA. When I press on the view button of an instance of movieclipA a duplicated movieclip takes place that has all the values of the specific item except of the images.
This movieclip - movieclipB duplicates for each item. This works perfect. I also have another movieclip movieclipC The movieclipB is a slideshow and loads the 5 images for an item by a self generated xml file that a php functions produces, depending on the querystring that is the idstring in my actionscript. I mean that inside the movieclipB I do
So far the movieclipB works very well standalone...and this means that if I assign the querystring value inside the movieclip (for example idstring=1 and then call the function as above, the slideshow works verywell. How to pass for each item a different idstring into movieclipB and where exactly to put the movieclipB so it can be duplicated with movieclipA and take the correct idstring to do its job. Everything I tried to pass the idstring failed.
In the flash page among other code that I don't believe it's important, I have the following actionscript in the action layer Main page frame 1: PHP Code: total = showPost.total; var id:Array = new Array(); var headline:Array = new Array(); var details:Array = new Array(); var thumbnail:Array = new Array(); showPost = new LoadVars(); [Code] .....
VisitorsDetailsClip_mc is the movieclipB I mentioned above. MovieclipA (the one with the thumbnail) and movieclipB are placed on the stage of the main flash page.
I can't get to load a movieClip dynamically.I have this code:[code]Also, I exported the movieClip to ActionScript with the name of myButton..When I test the movie- there're no errors, but there's nothing on the stage.
I have built a horizontal scroller, you can see images there that go from left to rigth, what I wanted to do is when a user clicks on a thumbnail:
1)go to full screen mode
2)create an empty movie clip and load a jpg into it
I did it, but when I go back to the normal screen the empty movie clip is still there. How can I get rid of it when the user goes to the normal screen? it seems to be that when I load the jpg into the emptymovieclip the empty movie clip doesn't have the click property is that true?
I am trying to load an image in to a dynamically created movieclip, which is:
_root.mySlider."+stripX2(band[i][0])+i
but I can't seem to reference it. I can load the movie into _root.mySlider, but if I add the dynamic element (stripX2(band[i][0])+i) without quotes it it doesn't load. If I load with quotes i.e.
"_root.mySlider."+stripX2(band[i][0])+i
flash doesn't allow strings in movieClip variables.The code I'm using is belowm, it's the second to last line thats causing the problem:
var loadListener:Object = new Object(); loadListener.onLoadComplete = function(target_mc:MovieClip):Void { trace(">> target_mc._width: "+target_mc._width);[code]......
If you create a popup via:[code]It will create a popup and bring it on top of any other visual piece. I have one problem though. This 'popup' needs to stay up even when the user interacts with the background.I would use modal, but I need the ability to interact with the back. Any way to tell the popup manager not to remove the popup when the user clicks off of it?
here is the site with the documentation on how to use grey box
[URL]
Now, you have to install some javascript on your server and call it from the header in your html. now thats fine and ive got it to work on a normal html page, the only problem is i cant seem to figure out what to do in flash.
Here is the HTML to launch [URL] in a new 'greybox' window
Quote:
a href="http://google.com/" title="Google" rel="gb_page_fs[]">Launch google.com in fullscreen window</a>
you can see that there is a 'rel' variable. Can flash understand this. how can I make flash do this?
Essentially, I've got a MC container that's created dynamically based off an XML file (basically for every <title></title> I've got, it makes a new "card"). Now within the context of each <title></title> grouping I've got <imgs></imgs> in which I specify the path to images that are related.All of that works perfectly, save for the external jpg files actually appearing on the stage. The MC I add them to does, but the external image doesn't.My problem is- I can't add the external images until they're completely loaded (or so it appears). The thumbnail BG I use is blank. So I know for a fact that the thumbnail BG isn't occluding the loaded thumbnails.
Lets say you have a bunch of similar movieclips and you want to move anyone of them dynamically. We would use:
[Code]...
Something like that. However, my issue is not selecting a movieclip dynamically, but selecting another movieclip dynamically within a dynamically selected movieclip.
I am trying to get a movie clip to pop up when I press a button, when the clip pops up it displays certain information taken from an xml document. I want to be able to display the info held in the first part of the xml to display when I press the 1st button, the info in the 2nd part of the xml to display when i press the 2nd button and so on. However it always seems to loop to the last item in the xml list. I have also posted my actionscript code below:
import mx.xpath.XPathAPI; var popup_xml:XML = new XML(); var popupArray:Array = new Array; var popupNames:Array = new Array; popup_xml.ignoreWhite = true; popup_xml.onLoad = popUpFunction; [Code] .....
I got this movieclip. With actionscript I attached a new movieclip to this one, as a popup menu, which will show on rollover. Inside this movieclip, it automatically makes textfields, as menu options (information I receive from a XML document). The problem is, that I cannot get it to respond on a onRelease function on those text fields, and I do not know why.
i'm using the centered pop up window script from: [URL]. i have multiple buttons in my flash movie which open screenshot html pages in external browser windows. the script works fine except when a popup window stays open. the rest of the buttons don't open/replace past that one popup. i tried changing the window name in the onRelease script to screen1, screen2, etc for each button, but that didn't work.
I need to close the popup(adobe flex), non modal window if I click on the parent page of the popup. I have to do the out of focus check and then do some validation before close the popup. So what I was thinking that is there any inbuilt focus check event or do we need to create custom event for that?
I think this should be here instead of the Actionscrip area but not sure.I am using a button to have a small popup (which is a MovieClip) appear when the user does a mouse over. I have a LOT of these because it is a list of bullet points. What I'm wondering is if there is a way to do an array. It would cut WAY down on code.Although this is the Flash forum instead of ActionScript My code for one button is:
I have a web application which contains a data grid. Double clicking on any row of that grid will open a popup (lets call it popup1). Now this popup1 again opens a new popup(lets call it popup2). When I close the popup2, I need pass an Object to popup1. Which is the easiest way to do that?
(PS: While opening popup2 from popup1, I am adding an event listener on Close event of popup2)
I have a parsley popup that can create another popup.The issue comes when I close the root popup, when I open the popup again and click on the child popup, it's actually opening 2 child popups.Any idea why this thing happen?
I have a problem with dragging movieclip which is dynamically generated via attaching movieclip from library.I want to move the movieclip by pressing the yellow square within a boundary say 100*4. I am attaching the flash file with this thread.
I want to apply actions to a movieClip nested inside a dynamicly attached movieClip, with the attachMovie method; it doesn't works when the movieClip is attached by a button:
1.when the swf movie loads with an attachMovie method the remove_btn clears the window_mc
I want access MovieClips Dynamically from the external flash file.There are 5 MovieClips named Loader_1_mc, Loader_2_mc,.Loader_5_mc like so. Each of this movieClip contain 5 movieClips by named acc_1,acc_2, acc_5 like.How Can I access From the swf file. i tried few steps within nested loop.[code]
In part of my actionscript i'm using: thumbnail_mc.createEmptyMovieClip("t"+k, thumbnail_mc.getNextHighestDepth()); to create a seperate movieclips for ewach image in my xml file. How would I then attach another movieclip to each of the newly created ones? ie thumbnail_mc.t0, thumbnail_mc.t1, thumbnail_mc.t2... is there a way to do it automaticall7y or do i have to assign it to each one individually? "thumbnail_mc.t"+k.attachMovie obviously doesn't work
I'm trying to load a SWF movie into a target movieclip called blankmc. The SWF movie is loaded from an absolute URL (eg. [URL]/img/20042005113934movie3.swf ) My Loading Progress code fails to detect the SWF file size. However the same code works perfectly for a JPG! Essentially the .getBytesLoaded() and .getBytesTotal fail to work. Why is this and how can I get it to work for loading SWFs?
I want to dynamically load a series of SWF's to play one after another without the user having to click any buttons. I've build a nice shiny preloader that will allow each movie to load up, but I can't seem to figure out how to make the next step. I've tried creating "placeholder" instances, and linking them but as I said, I just don't have enough AS experience to do it right. Most of the time when I'm working in Flash I'm under a time crunch and I do everything through animation.
Im making a movie with a menu that loads movie clips according to which menu is selected simple enough. However, the newly loaded movie clip also needs to allow the user to load another movie into the main movie effectively swapping the first movie clip with the second. This needs to be done without using the main menu.
I have started putting together a flash based website to present my works. I am dynamically loading thumbnails and the larger companions using an XML file. Everything seems to work fine on my comp but when I upload it to my host sever the larger images do not want to load and on occasion a page of thumbnails doesnt want to load. My address is [URL]. Also the code I am using only places one image atop another, so when I click on a thumbnail it will place the larger image on top of the last it does not take the previous one away. which can be a problem if one image is smaller than the last. or if I wanted to load movie clips.
Here is the AS of one page. //XML Trails stuff //var to hold Tween; var fadeTweenPhotoP1:Tween // Creating image txtfield var imageTextPhotoP1:TextField = new TextField(); // Instance of loader class var imageLoaderPhotoP1:Loader; [Code] ....
of a complex question to me, but it's coming from an absolute beginner and it might be considered a stupid one, that's why I posted here...I've kind of been dropped in the deep end with this task and I can't get it right... I have a company's organisational chart in flash where it loads in each person's name dynamically for their department and when you click on it it brings up their CV information such as name, qualifications etc. This is loaded into a dynamic text box. I can test it locally with an xml file and then switch back to the online version.The local version I check by switching to "strXMLpath = "organisation.xml";" where things are laid out as follows:
