I have a json object where I don't know some of the values at compile time, but I do know that all objects will be valid at runtime. So in the example below, the first trace will output "50" and I want the second trace to output "100", the value of someObject.someparam, which gets defined at runtime.
var plan:Object = { "testParam": 50, "testParam2": "someObject.someParam" } var someObject:Object = {"someParam": 100}// this actually doesn't get defined until runtime trace ("testParam " + plan.testParam); trace ("testParam2 " + someSortOfInterpreter(plan.testParam2);
I am creating headerText for a datagrid (dgTop250). How do I get the variable headerStr to evaluate correctly in the last line of the function? With the code below I get the entire string as the column header in the datagrid, not the evaluated expression that I need. Variable colName is evaluating correctly. I tried creating an Object of headerStr and using Object.valueOf() in the last line, but got the same result as before.
public function get250(event:ResultEvent):void { (var i:int = 0; i <= dgTop250.columnCount; i++) { var colName:String=dgTop250.columns[i].dataField;[code].......
my code is pretty straight forward. i can't get the 'if...then' statement to fire correctly. var t DOES equal "_level0.item" + sel at some point, as seen in my second code snippet, but the for loop doesn't ever see it and only the false code is executed.
Code: _global.heck = function(sel) //sel will be a number sent from another function {
I'm trying to do a math exercise, but with images (MCs) instead of variables. For 1+1, I want them to drag into the answer box a MC that corresponds to 2 (a picture with 2 apples on it) I'm OK with most of that, but how do I evaluate the MCs to tell them they got the problem right? or is there
I start an eventListener on frame 73. If I stop my movie and test animations in the flash player (going back to frame 1 for instance), the movie starts throwing errors because the listener is basically trying to listen on an object that doesn't exist anymore. So I was wondering if I could try somekind of "try {stage.removeEventListener(Event.ENTER_FRAME, myfunction}". I tried that with a catch statement but of course "try {}" doesn't work with asynchronous events. How would I go about that?
I have 25 textboxes on stage. I am using a for loop to point to each textbox and evaluate the contents. When I come across a textbox that has the letter "Y" in it I want to place an object called colorbox at a certain location. To do this I have assign the value in each textbox to a variable called tf and then evaluate the variable tf to see if it contains the letter "Y". When I trace this variable outside of my if statement it correctly shows the contents of the current box, however within my if statement it doesn't. Also the colorbox doesn't get placed at the designated coordinates and I get the following error message:[code]
private function fireItemCreated(data: ByteArray): void { setTimeout(function(): void { var event: ItemCreatedEvent = new ItemCreatedEvent(data); dispatchEvent(event); }, 1000); }
This function called to dispatch item created event when image thumbnail created.But it delays event on some time to prevent user interface freezes. And I'm guessing what could be happen if garbage collector executes after fireItemCreated function call but before timer event. Does the closure will be removed or it stays until it will be executed?
i have a small challenge calculating and evaluating a predefined path
here is my challenge in short.
- i got a path as a single color line on a white background (bitmap object but could as well be a vector shape)
- the path is a closed loop path (like a twisted and bend circle, let's call it a bean shape).
- i then need to move an object along this path in x steps but only once and stop exactly where it started
This means, i need to:
- find a start end point
- calculate the length of the path
- set keynodes along the path with X amount of spacing between (length/x)
- it got to be semi precise (within 1-2 px.)
one idea could be to loop throught the pixels till to find a color pixel and use this as the starting point, then use an vector with a predefined length (ex. 5 px) "rotate" it till it find a new color pixels and mark this as a new node, repeat the process till you get close to the starting point, and by using Trial and error you'll eventually have mapped the path, but this method is clumsy and not very accurate, if you don't hit the starting point spot on the first time, you'll recalculate everything over again.
I have 25 textboxes on stage named sw1 through to sw25. I want to evaluate the contents of each box using a for loop. How can I do this. Note the following code does not work for me.
for(var i = 1; i<26;i++) { var t = "sw"+i trace (t.text) }
I get this error message when I run my program:
Property text not found on Number and there is no default value. at Mastercalendar_fla::MainTimeline/frame1(E)
I'm very new to Flash, and I'm not a programmer, I have an Input text box named txtNe2 where a user will type an answer to a question. I want to evaluate the answer when the user pushes the Enter key and respond by sending the movie to either the "Ne2C" frame or the "Ne2I" frame (for the response to the correct or incorrect answer).
I am making a pretty basic flash game using AS3, its a 'fill in the blank' type. I think I basically have this code figured out, but I think I need a string variable for the 'word' part, but I've never coded that before, so I was looking for some guidance on that topic. Here is the code I have right now[code]...
I have a for loop generating a string that needed to be executed as code.
var new_content_string:String = content_string.slice( 0, -1 ); // After generating my string, I slice the last letter.content_txt.htmlText = HERE // Here is the place I want to execute my string
i think u can do it via XML and the CustomFunctions methods in flash... but id rather do it all in flash if possible. what i want to do is to treat a string as a line of code.
Basically, I would like to expose the interface of some Flash code via a textField. I can easily tokenize the string and get the method name and use eval to call the method. I am having trouble collecting the parameters and handing them to the method.[code]...
Since Action Script is an interpreted language, and it is clear by decompiling animations that the code is still in there, is there any function that lists the code of a function or class as a string?asically, I want to create a suite of components for developers that lets them make modifications to or at least view the code behind a component while the animation is running, and that way make it easier to find bugs, instead of having to stop the animation, dig up the code for that class, and recompile it. It would be even handier if it was possible to edit code while the code was running, so the next time Flash encounters that code, it will instead run the new code. Yes, if used unwisely, that could cause a lot of problems, but the benefit outweighs the risk, and that feature is used in such development environments such as Visual Studio.
Likely, the only solution to that would be to give each class a "code" variable, likely a String. Then when the users click the button to view that certain source, it checks for the "code" variable and displays the contents. The problem is that you have to remember to update the variable each and every time Perhaps I can write an extension for FlashDevelop that does that automatically? It could just update that variable at compile time.
I'm trying to create a series of scripts that will create some custom event listeners. I have three movie clips on my stage. One is a movieclip who's sole function is to hold array's and the event listeners. A second which moves around the screen. And a third that is motionless.
The problem is that the argument I want to test (which activates the custom event) is held within a string.
What I want to know is, how do you test to see if the string argument is true?
Is it something similar to this:
[Code]...
I think I'm going about this in the wrong manner, however this is the only way I can think of this working (since I need to be able to dynamically create these events)

i've read a tutorial about passing variables to HTML. But this tutorial isnt clear for me.. [URL] EXAMPLE 1 Using Query String to Maximize Code Reuse I really dont have an idea what to do inside flash, bec the author only said: Quote: Assuming the image filename is image1.jpg, located at a folder named images. And assuming that the Flash movie will use a variable named imageFilename to refer to the file, then we can do this
How do I do that? Like having a empty movie clip and giving an instance name of imageFilename?
Say I recorded and imported sound files of my voice saying "Two", "Four", "Equals", and "Plus"Would it be possible to have Flash on click string together those sound files like a string so that the user would hear:
I have converted Actionscript to Javascript. There are 5 functions with the same code.Everything must become a string in order to replace the code from the function1().
In Actioncript, we can use this[my_string] to convert string back to byteArray or something like that Javascript must surely have a method to convert string back to code right.
I have swf that loads xml from a folder. I want to copy that XML string and hard code it into flash as an entire string. Then dim my xml object equal to that string. Is this possible? Reasoning is because I don't want people duplicating the swf and chaning the xml to create a whole new object. I don't want to have to manualy enter each question and answer and value into the arrays. That's to time consuming.
AS2 code to load the XML: xmlData = new XML(); xmlData.ignoreWhite = true; xmlData.onLoad = "<myxml>My XML STRING HARD CODED HERE?</myxml>"; var questionXML:Array = new Array(); function loadXML(loaded) { [Code] .....

give me the Regular Expression that can check if a given string has any HTML code in it, and coming to think of it I would be bothered with <a href="something">something</a> exactly.
of course i could hardcode that - but if I then change something about the as file, the linenumbers won't be correct anymore, or maybe i rename the as file and so on. It'd be great to be able to create that string somehow using compiler directives. Is this Possible in an AIR application created with ActionScript 3.0?
In Actionscript and Adobe Flex, I'm using a pattern and regexp (with the global flag) with the string.match method and it works how I'd like except when the match returns multiple occurrences of the same word in the text. In that case, all the matches for that word point only to the index for the first occurrence of that word. For example, if the text is "cat dog cat cat cow" and the pattern is a search for cat*, the match method returns an array of three occurrences of "cat", however, they all point to only the index of the first occurrence of cat when i use indexOf on a loop through the array. I'm assuming this is just how the string.match method is. I want to find the specific indices of every occurrence of a match, even if it is of a word that was already previously matched.
But I keep getting an "Error #2030: End of file was encountered." This is (probably) because the class I'm serializing is too big for the "String" object type in AS3. Is there a limitless object for storing an array of characters (or better yet binary), or am I going to have to make my own class? (like one with an array of strings)
I am trying to include double quotes in a string but logic says it would just close the string. I know in html you would use something like ". In flash...I havent the slightest.Anyone know how to go about this?
