This actionscript loads three external SWF's. It also creates three buttons to select which SWF is visible. How can I: The actionscript sets the alpha to - for the swf's that are not active, so they are invisible. Instead of making them invisible..how can I remove them completely without having to load them again when their designated button is selected? The problem is that they are stacking ontop of each other, even though not visibly, and greatly slowing down the movie that is visible.
I'm using Flash CS3. [URL]I have a series of external SWF's that load into a main SWF randomly, then dissapear and the next random SWF loads. It works fine for a while, but if you stay on the page for a couple minutes, then whatever the last random SWF was, starts to repeat, rather than another random SWF loading. I need the SWF's to randomly appear no matter how long someome stays on the page.

I'm trying to load a random swf from the same folder when the main swf is started. So basicly the main swf contains nothing, just the randomized code, and the content I'd like to show is in the same folder but being loaded random on startup.
I had a few things in mind but I'm still not sure how to cope with this. I was thinking having the URLRequest load a random number and that number would represent an array spot. And this array spot would contain the information about the external swf I would want to load. But the random would need a max because if the random would give a 20 if there are only 10 files, nothing would happen offcourse.
I'd like to make a "main" flash movie to load external .swfs. It's not a problem to make it load a random external .swf but how could I make the loaded .swfs randomly load another .swf on the root at the end of its timeline?
Basically, i'd like to set up a timeline with say 10 movies. When the page loads, i'd like the flash to randomly select from some predetermined keyframes (obviously where each movie starts) and when that movie ends, jump to another section of the timeline. This way, the loading of the movies is somewhat seamless and it looks like i've made 10 different flash movies.Even if it's not possible to all load from the same timeline, i'd like to have it play the first movie, then when it reaches an ending frame, it loads another random movie from a directory on the server, and then keeps going and going until it can't stand it anymore.
I need to be able to select a random number between 1 and 200... however, I don't want the number to be selected more than once...I found this code:

However, this returns a whole array rather a single number.How do I get at the first number in this array? I am making a quiz game and want to return a random number (number) which displays a question using an 'if' statement: if number == 1{ etc. I don't want the same question to be displayed for the remainder of the game.

I am trying to make a banner like item for a website I am working on, I have 1 external text file 4 external swf's and 1 external .jpg.that I am trying to get to do this:on page load display img1.jpg for 60 seconds and then randomly select a number and then display the file that is associated with that number, for 60 seconds, and do it again, and again until all of the text and swf files have been displayed and then start over from the beginning,Now I can get it to select a random number and then pull up a file that is associated with that number with this code.I have shortened the time to see it work but still no avail.Example random code:
I am trying to get symbols to randomly get tinted from 4 select colors.The symbols come in randomly but would like them to come tinted randomly as well. How would you get them to tint at a random color in AS2?

While I've found tutorials here and elsewhere on loading one element from an array, usually triggered by a button, I don't know how to combine/alter it with the other elements.So I want this movieclip on the stage randomly flashing phrases from an array, some for a barely perceptible time, and others for a readable time.
I've been putting data into an array via XML, and then selecting at random an image string to load in a pic at random. But whilst doing this, I wanted to remove the String from the Array that I have just used, so I don't get repetition of the same image in the output. I initially thought that pop would remove the string I had just used - But of course it Removes the last value in the Array instead, which doesn't really help.
Ok - so how about randomizing the data once inside the Array, after it has been pulled in from XML!? That way I can load in the 'last' image, and then pop it out! Keeping a randomized selection of images each time 'it' is loaded

There are 100 buttons in my movie clip and a timeline of 10 frames length.If user clicks on button1, the movie clip will play and at the last frame it will redirect to second scene (scene2) and then "on scene2's first frame" "externalscene1.swf" will be loaded.If user clicks on button 5 then on scene2's first frame "externalswf2.swf" will be loaded

I would like to select a specific xml file to load from a local directory. The file name is composed of "Title" + "number sequence". I know the Title (in this case its XLink07), but I need to select the latest number sequence or the latest by date stamp.
For example, the local directory has the following files: XLink01[36735298100].xml XLink02[36735298100].xml XLink02[36735298101].xml XLink07[36735298100].xml XLink07[36735298101].xml
In this example I need to select file XLink07[XXXXXXXXXXX].xml where XXXXXXXXXXX is the highest number within the XLink07[XXXXXXXXXXX].xml files. Title is Xlink07 and function should return Number sequence [36735298101]. Files with higher number sequence have later date stamps than files with lower number sequences. I need to select the highest number or the latest date stamp for the file that begins with XLink07.

I have a comboBox and values like basic and advanced. And viewstack container conatains 2 grids.When i select the base option in Combobox, the first grid has to be selected. select the advanced value in comboBox, the second grid has to be selected.
Flex 4 Combobox is extended with a Text Input that helps in getting to the item that is searched for.I have created a Check Box as an itemrenderer for this Flex 4 Combobox. I would like to Add a Select All and Select None options in the drop down of the Combobox. I know that i could accomplish by editing the dropdownfactory in case of a Flex 3 Combobox. But in Flex 4 the dropdownfactory doesnt exist.
I have flash movie that I'm loading other movieclips and swfs into.At the moment when I load in a new swf, the timeline plays through the intro sequence, then when I select new content to load into replace it the movie simply vanishes without showing the outro sequence.It's been puzzling me for a while now but i've seen it used on many flash sites so i'm guessing there's definately a way to do it.
