ActionScript 2.0 :: FMX - Flash Movie Load To A Random Keyframe In A Timeline When The Page Loads
Dec 6, 2004
i think i may have a challenge for you. I would like to have a flash movie load to a random keyframe in a timeline when the page loads. Basically, i'd like to set up a timeline with say 10 movies. When the page loads, i'd like the flash to randomly select from some predetermined keyframes (obviously where each movie starts) and when that movie ends, jump to another section of the timeline. This way, the loading of the movies is somewhat seamless and it looks like i've made 10 different flash movies.
Even if it's not possible to all load from the same timeline, i'd like to have it play the first movie, then when it reaches an ending frame, it loads another random movie from a directory on the server, and then keeps going and going until it can't stand it anymore.
I am trying to make what I thought would be a very simple random picture display. I have five movie clips named myClip1, myClip2, etc. All are on the first frame of the timeline. Each has this as a movie clip action:
Code:
onClipEvent(load){ _alpha = 0; }
The frame also has an action like this:
Code:
nClipMax = 5; // nClipMax being the number of movie clips this["myClip" + Math.ceil(Math.random()*nClipMax)]._alpha = 100;
When I test this the background (an image) displays but nothing else, the movie clips stay transparent. I have tried several variations without any luck.I am mainly an asp and net developer that uses flash periodically so be gentle.
I am creating a web site for a kitchen company, there are differen images as headers on each page. But on one of the pages they want a flash animation to slideshow their kitchens. The animation is done, but they want it to start on a random kitchen. I have only started using actionscript and am struggling a bit, I've managed to find some coding, but they don't seem to work. What I'm looking for is a code to sit in the first frame to randomly select either frame 2, 12, 22 or 32 to go to and play on from there.
I have been trying to get 4 random letter generators to work at the same time as they all load on keyframe 60. However only one will work while the other 3 dont ever show up. I have given an example below if someone could let me know how I would get it to work. I've tried changing the variable 'x' to 'a' but for some reason it still won't work.... i want the result to be 4 random generated buttons that will be used for my menu.
I have made a Flash image gallery that is working just fine. I'm preloading the thumbnails and loading the main images only when these are clicked for display, in order to save load time. The problem comes when the user configures say 100 images to be shown in the gallery. In this case the page containing the gallery freezes until all the thumbnails are loaded. My question would be: is there any solution to load the rest of the page first? Or load everything in parallel assigning the page content a higher priority?
I have an animated logo swf file that loads and runs once on the home page every time the page loads. The logo has been updated to appear in three different colour schemes. I want one scheme to load and when the page is refreshed or revisited, one of the other colour schemes to load in its place. They can appear in any random order, just a different one to the one that played before reloading.Can someone point me to an answer or tell me how to do it? I have found a way in JavaScript but this only works on plain images, not swf files.
i am creating a game now this is complex but i have been told by my fellow actioncript co worker that its doable, What it is i have a game "Reaction Tester" and It is inside a car going along the road so its psudeo 3d and i have the "walls" and road sorted now i want a movie clip in the road to throw out random objects From a Movie clip, now i will call them from frame names, say..
frame 1-10 is a tween with a box coming down and then frame 11-20 is a cat and frame 21-30 is a hole in the road Etc i want it to call a random frame to frame, to play
I am making a thing on my flash animation with a 3d planet spinning. When you move your mouse over it the planet will stop and contact info comes up, and when you rollOut the planet continues spinning and the contact info fades away. I have everything working but i cant get the planet to stop spinning when i do this because the button controls the fade but the planet is just spinning in the backround, hard to explan. Anyways i need to be able to send a stop and play action to the planet movie clip behind the button to stop. i need to send an action from Scene 1>universal>destinationclip>world. from a keyframe on the destination clip.
I have a html page that has a link, which links to another html page with a flash file on. What i need is when this flash page is accessed i need a new movie to load, which would usually load from the navigation when someone clicks on a button.Is there anyway to link to a page which then loads a new movie into the main movie. can this be done???
I have a external swf that I want to load into a holder on my main main mc how can I get it to load once the play head hits that keyframe? I have tried an OnEnterFrame but it gives me an error?Below would be the code I would enter after the event handeler:
I have a .fla that has a preloader on frame one and the rest of the file on frames 2 thru 55. The preloader code is the one that comes in Flash cs5's sample files. there is a movie clip with the instance name lbar and text with the name lpc. here is the code
stop(); import flash.display.*; this.stop
[code]...
It works fine the first time people are on my site but when the page is refreshed or is gone back to sometimes the loader bar is just stuck and doesnt load.
I have a main.swf file. In first frame i load a background slideshow with this code:
[Code]...
My problem is that when the site loads the 1st time and click from the menu to go to the 2nd frame (1st content page) then i have to wait at about 3-4 seconds to load my html content. The same for the 3rd frame. If these two content pages load for the 1st time, then the pages open immediately. What can i do for this? Is there a way to open this content pages more quickly, or place a loader, and with what code?
I have a button that I want to have load a movie when pressed. It works, howerver, the movie loads in a separate window instead of the the main timeline where I would like it to. How can I correct this? Here's how I have it scripted now:
Everything is embedded in an HTML site. The HTML loads a preloader that then loads the actual flash movie. Inside this movie I created a few buttons, inside a scroll bar movie clip. I want the buttons to load a whole new movie inside the same html. The code I'm using in the button is simply:
on(release) { loadMovie("new_movie.swf", 0); }
The problem is that it works beautifully in the Flash movie tester but doesn't do anything when tested inside the browser, embedded in the HTML. I think the problem is that the HTML embeds as an object the first movie, the preloader for the menu movie, not the menu movie itself.
I am trying to create a movie clip that loops and on each loop it loads a random little .jpg banner from a directory. The banners are named 0.jpg, 1.jpg and so on, a script on the first frame of the loop saying
"bannernumber" is a variable from an external text file specifying how many random numbers to cycle through (how many banners), This works just fine and loads up a new banner after each loop cycle. The problem lies in trying to make each banner go to its own url, I have another external text document with variables "click0=url, click1=url etc" where I want the number in each variable to equal the randomnumber variable in flash, then use an on(release){getURL(urlvariable)} function to have it retrieve the url that is somehow in the url variable. Basically, how would I make the urlvariable be equal to the "click0" variable to get the url of the click0 variable into the getURL function? while having the number in the "click0" variable be equal to the randomnum variable?
I've create a .flv movie in a webpage. I include code that can loop this video. To this point all works fine...But, i want a specific thing: when u load the page the movie clip start at differents points of the timeline, like a random. And it continues to play to the end and loop to the beginning, to the end, to..
im playing with the load random movie (but loading a random xml file instead) based on the wonderful tutorial from front page and was wondering whether anyone can show me the work around/upgrade to AS2 for this bit of script since im publishing to Flash 8 /AS2 and it doesnt work:
way to randomly load a flash movie into a specific place of the same dimensions.
I am creating a page where I have a spot for a flash movie, and I would like to randomly load 4-5 different animations into that space that would change randomly by refreshing the page.
im developing a match game for our website..i want to have about 6 external swfs for the cards that will be flipped over, and one main movie shell with 12 target clips that the 6 external files will load into. (each card needs to appear twice in the movie so that people can flip them over and match them)what would be the best way to randomly load in the cards into each of the 12 positions and make sure that each card gets loaded twice and no more.
making a simple animation with about 10 "coins" on screen. I have a movie clip that animates another movie clip flipping over. I want to pull a random movie clip from the library into the nested clip so that on each "flip" a random coin face comes up.I've put all the clip names into an array (coin1,coin2,coin3,etc.)I think it would be described as _root.coin_container.coin_animation.random_coin_hereThere will be 10 coin_container's on the main stage, with coin_animation nested inside. At the beginning of the animation a random movie clip from the array should be called into coin_animation, then coin_animation will run through a few frames, repeat, call another random movie clip and repeat.
As part of my brief, I have to create a small flash movie that will load a random quote (which is actually a jpeg image), fade it in to view, display it for a length of time (probably only 3-5 seconds), fade it out and then load another random quote. Is this possible to do, purely using actionscript? I can randomly load an image - I used the "Random Background Image" tutorial on this site - but getting the fading/pausing/fading then moving to another quote has got me stumped.
The images are imported into their own swf file that is loaded into a placeholder movie on the html page. I tried adding in a for loop to the individual swf and the placeholder movie, to loop through alpha property of the image (just to fade up for the moment, till I get it working) - but this didn't work at all. I could use tweens for the fading, but this could end up a mess and more work than it needs to be as there could be quite a lot of quotes added over time.
I want the simple movie to load the URL(home page) after it's finished. so i tried to add getURL("[URL]" , "_blank"); at the end of movie, but i keep getting errors.. this is the website that i'm working on LINK It's a very simple. i'm not even going to dare to make it fancier. I just want the movie to be over and go straight to the home page without any clicks.. i tried to put the geturl thingy at the last movie clip(Imagine tomorrow) and i tried to put it at the end of the keyline.. neither seem to work. i'm sure it's very easy one, but it just doesn't work.
I have a horizontal menu bar across the bottom of a site I manage, and I would like to load it as the Moive content loads. I have made the menu bar into it's own movie clip, but I cannot work out the code to relate the Menu bar movieclip to the parent movie clip.[url]...
I am working on a flash piece that is composed of one master swf that has five options/sections within it. Each option loads two separate swfs that operate at the same time. Within those swfs are url links which open in the same window, replacing the page with the flash piece on it. Is it possible to link back from the opened url in a way that will go to the frame in the main swf's timeline that will reload the relevant swfs?
I had suggested just targeting a _blank window but the person I am attempting this for doesn't want that.
I am making a Flash portfolio for a college class. I am trying to make it when I click on a button, it will load an external .swf. When I click on another button, it will replace the previous .swf.I have it working, but the code is sloppy, .Also, within cleaning up the code, is there a better way to load the first external .swf when the main movie loads?
Code: // FULL MENU ACTIONSCRIPT // import flash.events.MouseEvent; import flash.display.*;[code].........
[URL] Above is a link to view the project I'm working on. Once the site loads if you go to the "Contact Us" page the content doesn't load correctly. I'm using an extrnal .xml and .css files for the content. I'm also embedding the fonts dynamicly. If I test the file locally on my computer is works fine the image loads as it's supposed to and content looks correct. However when I post the files to the server (which work exactly the same way) I get the white box when you can see from the link above. I'm at a complete loss as to how to to fix this.
