I have a text box that is 100x100. How can I make the text start aligning along the bottom? So if I have 1 line of text its on the bottom of the text box, if I have 2 lines of text...its the bottom 2 lines of the text box, if i Have 5 lines of text...it takes up the whole box, starting from the top?

PHP Code: //Stage.scaleMode = "noscale"; But I need to keep that line because I don't want my swf to scale. My question is how can I resolve the issue with the bottom align of my mc? View 2 RepliesI am having a problem with my text alignment and I can't figure out a way to correct this. Unfortunately, I'm using a mac with CS3 and a Windows computer with CS4, so it could either be an OS difference, a version difference, or a software bug which I can't figure out.
For some reason, the text on my Mac with CS3 are not in the vertical center of the text fields. This causes a problem with my "align vertical centers" alignments, meaning I've had to do the alignment by hand to get it to look right. When I moved my file to my laptop to keep working on my project at home, I noticed that the text alignment was correct on my laptop, causing all of the text placement throughout my document to be off. This means that I can only work on the one computer and can't bring the project home to work through the weekends.
I have made an image showing the difference of how the text is aligned on the two versions, and a sample of how it affects my project when i bring it between computers.
I made the file on the mac (CS3) first, and so the alignment is designed to look correct on there. When i bring it to the PC (CS4) the text shifts down, placing it back in the center of the text boxes and ruining the alignment.
When I publish the file it keeps the formatting of each system. IE - publishing on the mac makes the final product look like it does on the mac, and publishing on the windows computer makes it look like it looks on the windows computer. The file published from the mac has the mac alignment on both computers, and the file published from the pc has the alignment of the pc on both computers.
I am trying to apply a new text format to my text field on a movie clip onRollOver. The new text format is properly/correctly applied when I moused over, and the main difference that is applied onRollOver is to have the text underlined. The only problem I'm having with this is that the actual underline itself appears to be about two pixels to the left of my text string so it looks like its not aligned properly with the text.[CODE]...

View 1 RepliesIf I want to align things vertically in a container, I'll use verticalAlign="middle", but this doesn't exactly solve the problem of truly aligning text vertically. Text is always too high vertically, so in the past, I've just adjusted paddingTop and paddingBottom to compensate, but that doesn't work as the font for _sans differs from operating system to operating system.

What happens is pretty clear. The horizontal line gets aligned to the exact middle of the box, but the text is offset by some arbitrary amount. I assume that this is because of the text baseline alignment or something. Is there a way to fix this regardless of the font size and face? I'd like to have the line essentially go right through the middle of the text, ignoring the extra space possibly needed for below the logical line of text (ie: ignore the bottom part of "g's" and "j's" when laying things out).
I want to design a registration form using only ActionScript, i have designed labels and text boxes but using label.x = "10" label.y="40" text.x = "50" text.y ="40"... to align correctly. But i want to design a layout such that all labels and text boxes will be aligned properly.

View 2 Repliesi am a newbie flash designer. a client has asked me to make modifications in a flash file used on his website. it is flash 8 actionscriptfile which i decompiled using sothink decompiler 4.5 build 90120 to '~divisions original.fla'. the xml folder resides in the same folder as ~divisions original.fla. it contains divisions.xml.i discovered a problem - if you view 'divisions.swf' - when you click on 'retail visual solutions'and scroll to the bottom, you can see that there is no space after the text. the end of the text aligns with the end of the scrollbar. but when you click on eyesite, and scroll to the bottom, you can see that there is space after the text. the end of the text does not align with the end of the scrollbar.
my additional questions are:has the creator of the swf file used some unique scrollbar code or is this scrollbar provided in flash itself. in this case, i can read a tutorial to understand it better.i have given 'is correct - no space at bottom of text.jpg' and 'is incorrect - space at bottom of text.jpg' to further explain my query.
I'm working on a simple chat application in Flash / AS3. There's a Chat input box, a Send button, and a TextField where the contents of the chat input box appear after the message has been sent.By default, when you add text to a TextField, the text appears at the top, and works it's way down to the bottom. I would like to do (something close to) the opposite: Have new messages appear at the bottom of the TextField, and old messages move up to the top as new messages are added.
View 2 RepliesI made a post under actionscript 2.0, but I wasn't sure if it belonged there. So here goes.I made a text box and added a mask to it, it is really long so I made it scrollable. For some reason it keeps cutting off the bottom of the text, meaning it won't scroll all the way down, it truncates it. The text is dynamic and the fonts are embedded, heck I even tried breaking the fonts apart.

View 1 RepliesI use a rather big font size and the bottom of some characters is truncated ("g" for example, or any character going under the baseline):
I first thought it was a problem with the component height, but even with a very large height the characters got truncated, with big empty spaces above and under the text. I looked for a solution on the net but did not find one. Worst: I was not able to find references to my problem though it seems to be an important one. Is there a CSS property to prevent this behavior or do I have to look elsewhere?

I have an input field that adds content to the dynamic text field, and when the content exceeds a certain length, scroll bars come into play. That works fine. The issue that I'm having is that when I extend the dynamic text field it does it from both top and bottom evenly. Thereby, moving the first entry down incrementally as more content is added. Is there a way to keep the top of the dynamic text field at a fixed position while only extending to the base?

Since the text will be dynamic,there's no guarantee of how many lines the text will take up.Directly underneath that textfield i have another text field that will also take dynamic text. Think of it as a title and a subtitle.so I'll have something like this:

and probably others that I'm forgetting. Getting it to work with a single line of text isn't really a problem, but as soon as the text begins to wrap to multiple lines, everything i've tried seems to fall apart.
when text is added via radiobuttons it displays.as soon as i get over 7 lines a scroll bar appears -as more lines of text are added (via radio button click) the scroll bar moves down - HOWEVER------The scroll bar is not completely at the bottom - its one line up, so you have to scroll to see the last line....I have tried everything.maxVerticalScrollPosition, verticalscrollposition etc..

ive been trying to get a mouseover working but im having some trouble.
I need it so when i mouseover a movieclip text appears in a textfield at the bottom of the stage.
also when i click the mc the text stays there as im dragging it into the correct location.
I have a program and use there dynamic text. For this text i use special font CAMPFIRE.ttf.A lot of users dont have this font on their pc but i want then they open my .swf and see this font.For this i use next code:

i made a function for replacing a text letter by letter. You've probably seen this effect of putting in place of a text a random one, with the length of the new text and then replacing the random text, letter by letter with the new one. It worked fine but I had to do some adjustments, because I needed to vertically align the text to the bottom, and I had the newline character in the text which gave me some issues with the aligning. Since I did this adjustments, string.length returns undefined even if trace(string) shows the correct text in the output window. On the other hand length(string) gives me the right answer. I also use the charAt function which also returns undefined, even if the trace function shows the correct text.

Is it possible to force movieclips to be aligned to the top of your swf? but not have them overlap, so they stack underneath? For example, i have 4 movie clips on my stage, the stage is 800px tall. the movie clips are about 150px tall. How through actionscripting how would i force them so that the top movieclip aligns to the top of the stage, and then the rest align directly under it? The 4 movieclips are also dynamically re-arrangeable. You can drag them into a different order.

View 11 RepliesWhenever I draw a shape with Object Drawing turned on the blue bounding box that appears whenever it is selected isn't aligned properly to the outer edgers of the shape. Like this:
Admittedly it isn't a major problem it's just a bit irritating especially when people I'm teaching to use Flash ask me why it looks the way it does.
Does anyone else have this problem?
New to flash... there is one element (searchfield) which is right-aligned, and it stays that way. If I move it, or change coordinates, it does change its up&down position, but stays right aligned (no absolute position, it shifts when window is made larger/smaller). I do need a clue where I turn that off. I found several levels of layers, and I think I have put every (text) align to left. Still no use.

I have 3 buttons (on this example), each has a mouseover so the button will highlight once the mouse enters the shape. This all works, however the mouseover area seems to be aligned half OFF of the shape. E.G. the shape will highlight when hovering off of the shape on one side, and from half way accross the shape on the other.
