iv been trying for awhile now to get a few of the buttons im using on a site to change dimensions when i hover
basically i would like the button background to change dimensions and extend length wise to the other end of the web page whenever the mouseover appears the lenght of the botton extends smoothly and also goes back to its original size smoothly without snapping back
iv read lots of tutorials (got adobe flash cs4 book) but its all about moving images and so forth not really dimensions
if anyone can point out a tutorial or knows how to resolve this
I want to make some buttons and use the buttons.fla library. The button is inserted and given an instance name. A second button is inserted (same kind) and given a new instance name. But when I am trying to change the label text in one of my buttons the text is changing on the other button as well. I believed they where separate instances?

I have a created one complex button that I intend to use more than one. When I copy-paste the buttons in CS3 and try to change the text of just one, the text of every buttons is changed.I right-click on the button and select "duplication symbol" to change the features of the button independantly of the others. However the text never gets duplicated and all of my buttons show hte same text.

I'm using a Loadvars to change a text field with buttons, and would like a transition between the text field changes. I have an MC for the transition that moves a block to cover the text at label "up" and one to come down, revealing the new text at label "down". so i did
but the problem is that all those actions happen at once, the text changes before it is covered and the transition MC spazzes out because it doesn't know which to goto first. Is there I can set this function up to be more ordered, so it plays "up" and THEN loads the text, and THEN goes down.
how do you change the text inside of a text control when a user has clicked a button. I could not find a way to do this. I used an event handler to input a .xml to a string and then to the text control. This doesn't seem to work.

Is this even possible? I thought if I overlapped the entire underlying Flash with a button on the upper layer, it wouldn't register mouse events underneath. Well, it does. I need to disable the rollovers and click actions for the button on the underneath Flash until the top one is gone, which happens via javascript hiding its div when finished. Only thing I can think of is to have the bottom Flash not set up the button actions until the upper Flash is removed, have that one trigger a javascript that then triggers the bottom Flash to run its init function to set up button actions by way of an External Interface call.

There are four images that are dynamically linked. The function is not recognizing that the image is p=1. Do I need to do something like total-3 or something.
I have a MC in an AS3 animation and I want to increase its height from bottom to top which would mean that the registration point should be bottom of the MC and center of width (horizontal center).
If I have say 7 buttons, each containing text that changes color on rollover using the "Up" "Over" and "Down" keyframes in the buttons' timeline. Is there a simple way to get the button's text to change color when clicked, stay that way, and then change back to the original color once one of the other 6 buttons are clicked?
The only thing I can come up with is writing pages of code for each button that changes the color of every other button regardless of whether it was active.
I am creating a navigation bar in Flash (which will then be used in Dreamweaver). When you mouse over each topic in menu (ex. Products), i want it play a movie clip (so it shoots out a sub-menu underneath). so far so good, but the only thing is, the sub-menu won't stay open in order for me to click on buttons in it. For each button, I assigned it the Behavior to go to a url. Also, I tested the buttons within the mc and they don't seem to direct me to url. do you think maybe it's because it's nested within the movie clip?? Is there an easier way to go about this?
