I was searching around the internet for a way to talk to others without installing software like Skype. I found a site called DED Messenger which allows you, using flash, to talk with each other. Could someone here at Kirupa write a tutorial, following on from the earlier Microphone one to allow other people to hear what you say?
View 2 RepliesI was wondering if anyone could help me get some information on audio limitations in flash. Is it possible to have audio "scrubbing" that allows you to hear the audio as you scrub? Currently the only way I know to do this is by having it on the timeline, and set to stream. Using this method seems to be causing more issues than it solves. Preferably I would just like to load the audio in dynamically and then scrub through it. Is it possible to use that method and then still retain the ability to hear it as you scrub through it?I am having with the audio on the timeline. The main issue with this is that I have to manually add frames to the timeline, in addition to that I can not dynamically load the audio through xml. Well not that I know of.I think the best route is probably loading in the audio dynamically.

View 1 RepliesI am trying to display local flash swfs in the WebView. I have WebView set up and it will happily display local HTML files, but when I try to display Flash, the screen is blank. The flash file is running as I can hear the audio. I have noticed that most swf players from the android market suffer the same issue.
View 2 RepliesLooking for a component which can be embedded inside my site (PHP, ASP.NET...whatever) and give a support for video chat. I'm not a flex developer and would like to use a component. There are some/many video chats available, like flashcoms, red5chat...but all of those are heavy(monolit) components.
What I would like to have on my site is just a small video showing output from my camera (me) and another video showing the other party...but those videos should be split, not in the same flash component, but separate (two different EMBED tags on my page).
Are there any components available to do that (of course with support from appropriate media server)? Are there any good guides on how to develop such a component?
We're running a permission-based audio stream to be amplified through in-store sound systems, but are unsure about basic hardware requirements. What basic features must all hardware have to log into our server via username/password and receive audio signal?

We are building a live RTMFP voice chat application with Cumulus. While the basic voice transfer works pretty easy using NetStreams, we have one big problem:There does not seem to be a way to manipulate the microphone data that the NetStream sends, and also not a way to manipulate the data the listening NetStream receives before it is played.However, this is exactly what we need. We do not want to transfer the normal microphone recorded audio, but first pitch it, then send it, then play it. Or first send it, then pitch it, then play it. But it seems that the whole audio recording, speex encoding, speex decoding and audio playback is completely encapsuled within the NetStream class.The only ways to achieve what we want (and all of them removing NetStream completely) seem to be:Send raw pitched audio data. That does work, but is of course a lot of data to send and will likely not work fast enough outside of our local LAN testing.
Pitch audio data, convert to ogg/mp3 using existing encoders for flash, send, decode ogg/mp3 and play. But this would mean encoding each and every sample packet that is received from the microphone, adding header stuff, etc. So this would likely not even yield that much of a benefit compared to raw audio data.2.1. This would actually be a good way if there was a Speex encoder/decoder for flash. But ironically, there is none other than the built in one (which is used for encoding/decoding audio in NetStreams) that cannot be explicitly used. ot offering it, Adobe...Send the data to the Cumulus server, pitch (and probably convert) there and send to the recipient. This would likely not even be that much faster than 1. and also throw away the exact benefit of RTMFP, P2P communication.
I'm developing an application and i want to make one single connection for video(netstream) and chat(sharedObject).I have one connection for each but i have limited connection available in the server so i need to make a single connection to handle the video net stream and chat sharedObject.I use this urls to connect:

View 3 Repliesi want to create a chat app using flex 4.5 mobile project for android device. For the chat screen, i wanted it to look glossy and stylish. Hence i thought i would use the list component and disable the selection in it. I m able to add the chat messages into the list. But i doubt if large chat data might hinder the performance. Im using a collection and i ve binded it with the list. Whenever i receive a chat i update the collection and it gets displayed in the list. Can someone tell me if his could pose a performance problem as list component is not intended for this purpose.

View 4 RepliesI can see and hear normally on youtube or some direct site. But if I try to veiw a youtube vid linked at some forum I can only hear the video and am unable to see it. I just upgraded to Windows 7 64 bit. The same thing happened on my laptop when I upgraded to Windows 7.

I am trying to animate a character talking in CS3. What should I do to be able to hear the dialogue when I drag on the timeline? Currently I can't hear anything, but if I test the movie it plays fine.

View 3 RepliesMy server is streaming binary audio data (mostly mp3 files) to a client (a browser). This client stores the audio data in memory.
What I'm looking for is a flash audio player that I can input the binary audio data so that it can play the audio file.
Preferably, the flash client is merely a bridge to Javascript so that I can handle everything in Javascript and simply use Flash's audio features, but this is not a requirement.
I have a single audio file, I'd like to avoid cutting it up.
I know I can use the sound class, mySound.play(150), to start at 150ms but haven't come across a way to stop the audio say after 500ms or at 650ms.
