Dec 15, 2003I have made multiple movies compiled in flash player 6.0 with AS 1.0. Now the problem is that when i compile the movie with the new compiler for Flash 7 under AS 1.0, there are a lot of runtime errors. There are no error messages, just screw ups during runtime. But if played with Flash Player 7, it works.
For example kirupa's volume control with slider doesn't work. So I am just wondering what script changes i need to make. I have tried declaring my variables and making them case sensitive. But there are still problems. I just need some generalizations on what I should do. For me compiling under 7.0 is enticing becuase of the speed enhancements for the 30% of ppl who do have the new player.
Professional :: Can Hear But Not See Linked Video
Jul 17, 2011I can see and hear normally on youtube or some direct site. But if I try to veiw a youtube vid linked at some forum I can only hear the video and am unable to see it. I just upgraded to Windows 7 64 bit. The same thing happened on my laptop when I upgraded to Windows 7.

May 28, 2009I have made a javascript/flash system to play sound effects on an AJAX-based game I have made. For some reason, on some systems (it appears to be just Firefox 3 on Windows XP), users can only hear the sound effects play while the window is in focus. If they minimize the window or are looking at a different window the sound effects don't play.

Nov 7, 2009I have 2 scenes. In both scenes, I have a movie clip that moves via keyboard control. If the goto next scene is triggered by the movie clip in the first scene the keyboard control works in the second. However, if I use a button to move to the next scene then there isn't any control over the movieclip in that scene. I've traced the keyCode in the second scene and it is picked up but the switch statement doesn't run. I'm migrating to Actionscript 3.0 and updating something I created in 2.0. I would like to do it without writing a class.

ActionScript 2.0 :: Possible To Have Audio 'scrubbing' That Allows To Hear Audio As Scrub?
Jul 21, 2009I was wondering if anyone could help me get some information on audio limitations in flash. Is it possible to have audio "scrubbing" that allows you to hear the audio as you scrub? Currently the only way I know to do this is by having it on the timeline, and set to stream. Using this method seems to be causing more issues than it solves. Preferably I would just like to load the audio in dynamically and then scrub through it. Is it possible to use that method and then still retain the ability to hear it as you scrub through it?I am having with the audio on the timeline. The main issue with this is that I have to manually add frames to the timeline, in addition to that I can not dynamically load the audio through xml. Well not that I know of.I think the best route is probably loading in the audio dynamically.

Aug 1, 2011Flash is not in my toolset, but I am an old Director jock and have spent some hours dipping my head into the Flash manual. I suppose that makes me a promising beginner-level poster. I'm working in CS5.
I need to make a simple Flash-based sound player for a website for a newly-released novel (http://www.bearriverbooks.com/index.html). I want the user to click on what appears to be an icon (or image), which kicks open a simple controller and starts playing a sound file (a radio interview, which I will probably export using Flash's voice compression). Nothing fancy. Just want the visitor to hear the sound and be able to apply simple controls (stop/start/rewind/volume).
I can learn ActionScript, I suppose, since I used to dream in Lingo, but my life would be a lot simpler if I could just publish a controller without having to roll my own. I'd like to think there's a magic button somewhere that can do this, but I haven't found it yet.

Aug 17, 2011add some functionality to the presentation template. Currently you can only move from one page to the next. So if I want an animation on a page, no problem I'll just add a stop script at the end. No big deal. But if I want Multiple animations (just trying to replace powerpoint here) then I get into trouble.
Each page is one frame on the main timeline. Hitting left/right goes to the next frame, unless the movieclip on that frame also has additional frames. Then it should move to the next frame within that, etc.
I can't figure out that if statement though. I had another bit of script going on my first go, but ran into some issues so thought it best to create all of the scripting on the main timeline. Initially I created a boolean variable, then ran an if statement. Inside of a movieclip I switched the boolean and used the same keyboard interaction to walk through it. On the last frame of that movieclip, I switched the boolean back so the main timeline interaction kicked in again. The problem is, that's a Lot of copying and pasting of that code, and I can't figure out how to go through more than one parent. I just couldn't get it to work.
Should I just be building this thing in a Completely different way? I need to make something, so for now I'm splitting up each frame that I need different animations on and creating a different movieclip for each section. Ideally that would be contained in one movieclip's timeline. Currently one each animation's interaction will be on a timeline. So I have to duplicate the slide to add an animation. So if I have a title come in, then a pie chart, then an image, then another piece of text, I'll be stuck with 4 separate movie clips.
I want something like:if current movie clip current frame is == total frames, clicking right goes to next frame, else go to next frame of it's parent's timeline.I say the parent and not stage because the way you have to set up transitions only works within a movieclip. So you have to set up the entire slideshow within a movieclip if you want transitions between each slide. Right?
I don't care about transitions for now, but will want control of those eventually.
