ActionScript 2.0 :: [Flash MX 2004] Stop Video Playback When Going To Next Frame?
Jul 8, 2007
I've put together a small website and have managed to teach myself quite a bit but there is one thing that I can't seem to find any info on,on the second page of the site I have a video, which progressively loads into the page, however I would like to make the video stop playing when you go to any of the other pages of the site. I'm sure this is a pretty straight forward piece of code but I can't work it out myself.This is the code I use to start my video playing.....
var nc:NetConnection = new NetConnection();
nc.connect(null);
var ns:NetStream = new NetStream(nc);
[code].....

I have searched countless forums (here and other sites) and still have yet to find the solution I am looking for (hopefully it exists).I have an flv file being loaded by the flv playback component. It all works except that the video (and audio) continues to play even after navigating away from the frame on which the component instance is located.I have found a solution that stops the audio by using: SoundMixer.stopAll();But the video is still streaming and affects the site's performance.I want to stop both the audio and video, which means using: playbackInstance.stop();However, all the solutions I have come across basically say to add the stop function to all buttons that could potentially navigate from the frame with the playback instance.
This seems completely tedious and bulky, particularly because I have navigation buttons visible from my "main swf" and the MULTIPLE playback instances I have are located inside a loaded swf with its own navigation as well. By nature of design, the playback instances will not always be on the stage so calling references will undoubtedly throw errors. Of course, there are ways to do all of this with conditional statements, etc. But it just seems like a waste of time.

There seems to be tutorials on starting the next video at completion of the previous one using the FLV2.5 Playback component, but stopping a video playback event when a new one is triggered. Ex. Video one button is clicked and video starts playing, viewer clicks video two button mid way through playback of video one and starts video two. How do I stop the playback of video one when video two button is clicked to avoid both playing simultaneously?
I have used:
if (snd ! = null) {
channel.stop();
}
for audio files sucessfully.

I have a FLV video that I need to stop when my flash video reaches a certain frame. I named my video "SMB3video". Using AS3. I don't want something super advanced, just keep it as simple as possible. I tried to create a script which gave me no errors until it reached the frame for the timeline.
Code:
this.addEventListener(Event.ENTER_FRAME,ent_frame);
function ent_frame() {
SMB3video.stop();
}

I know how to make a video (instanced as showreel) stop when clicking on a button that that navigates to another section/frame, since otherwise I would still listen to that video while not visible. The problem is when I'm in another frame that doesn't have that video, when clicking on the menu to go to whichever other frame, it looks for that it to stop if it's playing and it and doesn't find it, and so there's an error.
How can solve this? Maybe I should put an order saying something like if there exists a video in that frame instanced as sowreel, stop it, otherwise don't do anything as there is nothing to be stopped. Or assign the order to the frame (which is called motion), but I don't know how to do that, can someone help? The code I have is:
import fl.video.VideoEvent;
function onClick(evt:MouseEvent):void { if( showreel.playing ){ showreel.stop();} gotoAndStop(evt.currentTarget.name);}
motion.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, onClick);web.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, onClick);logo.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, onClick);photo.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, onClick);

I am using Flash Professional 8 and Dreamweaver 8 to maintain a website. I have just started using flash to show video highlights from high school football games which I record. Using iMovie I export the video as quicktime file and then import to flash to convert to a flash video file to post on the web site. The video coming out of iMovie has very good contrast and the quicktime movie has the same good contrast. When looking at the file in Flash the contrast changes dramatically. I becomes washed out. I am using Max OX 10.6 operating system.

I have imported a video into Flash CS3 and I want to be able to stop the video on the last frame. If I say false to autoRewind, it goes to a black screen and if I say true to autoRewind, it goes to a white screen. I believe if I use a cuePoint on the last second to STOP then it would work.

I have made a frame which contains four videos that play when the user clicks on the button relating to that video. However, when I click on another frame, the video's sound continues to play. But when I click back to the video page the FLV Componant Player has reset itself and is not playing anything, but I still hear the sound of the video that I played earlier. Any ideas as to either stop or pause the video that is playing when clicking away from that frame?

It is for a portfolio for school, in the case that you wanted to know. I have created a frame in the FLT thatis for videos. I have called a net connection to load a video locally when a custom button is CLICKed, and i have made a custom button to pause said video, and play again, using togglePause
My problem is, once the video is started (using play) and if the user navigates away from this video page, (which means they are a jerk/ass for not finishing my video) the audio will continue playing, as the video has been loaded and is not through executing. I want this net connection to end once navigating away from the page, if necessary. I have tried calling an EventListener(EXIT_FRAME) but errors upon outcome follow.

I can hash a flash template to make it work, changing URL's, pictures etc, so have not had a grounding in the coding side of things.
My problem is that I have a new website that I have published in CS5 from a template by flashmo. I have substituted one of the pages to play videos ( I originally wanted to have 1 video with 4 thumbnails that would play when clicked but that is above me). On that page I have imported 4 flash video files, one set to autoplay, the others using the skin to start when necessary.
The issue is that when I navigate away from the page "Examples", the sound keeps on playing and if I navigate back to "Examples" another instance of the video starts with both soundtracks playing.
I have researched and found other people with the same issue, but the solutions always seem to involve entering a stop(); function on the buttons that navigate away from the Examples page. This is where it all falls apart for me.
below is the code from the first frame of the timeline. Am I looking in the wrong place to stop the video playing. There are other lines of script later in the movie, but I am ssuming this is where it all runs from ?!
fm_button.visible = false;
var menu_label:Array = new Array("Home", "Examples", "Packages",
"Links", "About", "Contact");
var total:Number = menu_label.length;
[Code].....

I have a problem with my slideshow script. I have embedding a flash video file into my website with this slideshow called monoslideshow, and everything seems to work perfectly. Trouble is, when I am clicking on another menu button that should jump to another frame, it still keeps playing the video and sound while displaying the new menu data.So I will probably need some code that stops the video instantly, when another menu button is clicked. But how do I write it and where do I put it?
Here is my actionscript for the video file to show:
var loaderSlide:Loader = new Loader();
var monoslideshow:Object;
loaderSlide.contentLoaderInfo.addEventListener(Event.COMPLETE, onLoadComplete);
addChild(loaderSlide);
[Code]...
It would be great to get a solution to this problem, otherwise my website will be kinda messy ;)

I have a video embedded in Flash as an FLV. I'm able to get the video to play through the way I want, but when the video plays through and ends, I want to have two options/"buttons" display that allow the user to either replay the video a la youtube, or link to another web page.
I know it must a very basic question but I can't seem to find any answers. I've included a screen capture of the end of the video.

Anyone know how to vary the playback speed of video in Flash? I'm looking to implement this in an educational website where users can slow down the video or breeze through it by changing the playback.
Here's an example of what I'm looking for: [URL].. Except that this is a PC application, .exe. I'm looking to vary speed WITHIN Flash. I think FLV is not an option because you can only jump from cue-point to cue-point. With F4V work? MP4?

I would like to play back 3 reasonably high res videos (On2 VP6-S) simultaneously in one Flash App (using flash.video, netstream and netconnect - code only). Unfortunately, when I do this, the video playback drops a lot of frames, however, CPU usage does not go much above 50% - spread over both cores. I'm using a Core2Duo. If I play the same 3 videos simultaneously in 3 separate flash apps (FP10), they play much better (and use close to 100% CPU). I even tried creating it as an AIR app with 3 separate windows (NativeWindow), but that made little difference. I have lodged this as a bug via the Flash Bug Reporting System [URL].
And yes, I do need to be doing something as crazy as this - it is for a pretty cool kiosk app, so I know what hardware will be used (and it has a good Graphics Card). One promising workaround appeared to be playing back a single NetStream in multiple Video instances, as it is NetStream that does the decoding, so I could decode once and present it in 3 places. Two of my video objects are actually the same flv (on different monitors), so there would be a 33% saving right there. If necessary, I could encode both flvs into a single 1920x1200 flv (I've checked - it would play back ok) and then use video.mask to show the relevant bits.

I understand Core Animation is Objective-C specific, and I am NOT familiar with developing AIR applications, but I was wondering if there was some how a way to trigger Core Animation through developing an AIR application? Don't AIR apps become native to the platform they're developed on?I just want to find a way to improve video playback through flash apps.

I am planning an implementation for a lecture capture solution for a local university. It is supposed to record all aspects of the lecture: the presenter will be recorded using videocamera + mic, his desktop activity is captured and optionally the whiteboard is captured as well (using Mimio). These input streams arrive (as video streams) to a computer that stores the recording on its harddisk. The file format for the recording should be able the hold multiple streams (Matroska for example).
The recording will be available from the uni's website. So at the client-side Flash seems a natural choice.
The player should display the different input sources into different rectangular regions of the player. One region displays the presenter, another region displays the desktop recording.
Is it possible to use a Matroska file as source for Flash streaming? If yes, how?
If no, is there another container format more suitable for this? The FLV format can only hold one audio and one video file. Is it possible to have one Flash client receive multiple streams and diplay them in different regions of its own canvas?

Without getting into the details of why (its for school) I'm trying to use a custom preloader I've created to load a Flash video.I've created the animations, and the loader functions, but on the Event.COMPLETE event, how do I pass the data I've loaded into myUrlLoader to an FLVPlayback component?Or should I even be using the FLVPlayback component? Everything up till:
myUrlLoader.addEventListener(Event.COMPLETE,
function(e:Event){
//what do I do?
});
...seems to be fine.

I've got a Flash video that takes a very long time (30 seconds+) to load, which is obviously frustrating for users. I'm using the JWPlayer to embed the video.Flash experts (which is not me), what am I doing wrong? Or is the video file too big/server too slow? I've tried embedding in various ways (direct embed, swfobject) without change.I notice it does sometimes play right away on load, but I'm not sure if this is because at that time, the Flash video is cached in my browser.
