Flash Skin Not Showing Up On Website
Jul 20, 2009I have created a video, gone through the steps in flash cs3, and made the corresponding .swf and .flv files. I publish preview - html and everything works great, the video plays, the skin shows up and functions flawlessly. Then, I put the .flv, .swf, and skin.swf files on my hosting server put the html in my site code, and the skin won't show up. The video plays on its own, and the space is blank where the skin should be, just the skin is not there. I have tried most anything I can that I have found scouring message boards, etc, but none of the solutions are working for me.

Jul 14, 2009my flash website extracts data from an xml file. is there a way that i can somehow link to images in the xml file or embed some html code in it so that when the flash file extracts the content, it also follows the links and imports the images from the server onto itself?
get what i mean? im stuck in a REAL bad situation and i cant find a way out of it =/
its like as if the actionscript i put, into this one place where i want to, is completely ignored =S so im trying ways around it
Xml :: Data Not Showing In Flash Movie?
Dec 3, 2009I have a page.php with a flash banner embeded. banner.swf loads, but displays nothing because it is not getting its data from data.xml which is in flash/lighter/data.xmlIt only works if the banner.swf and data.xml and the banner_images are all in the root directory. That's not possible and totally unacceptable. So I did get some info here about setting a parameter like this :: :: which is exactly where the data.xml file resides. I figured that had to be the solution. Still no data gets loaded.... unless I have the data.xml, banner.swf, banner_images, all in the root directory where page.php which contains the object code resides. How can I make this seemingly easy thing work

Dec 27, 2010My band has a reverbnation profile, and I just recently started editing a flash7 site template that I purchased for the band. I happen to know enough to edit everything that is existing, but adding new content is a bit beyond my imagination and most of the tutorials I have found are all for creating new movies and use AS3 instead of AS2.
I created a new "dynamic" "classic text" text field (instance name of "rss" - variable set to "rss_output") in layer 1 of a section of my scene (movie clip) called "pages_tours".There is no other item in layer 1, frame 1 of this movie clip.In this thread: the author states that he was able to call xml data from another domain and post it on his site and this could possibly be used to snatch & display RSS data as well.I had created the proxy.php file, with code inside, saved as proxy.php (no .txt attached.)

Oct 8, 2009I am having some problems showing my videos in flash after moving it anywhere besides my computer.
I published my flash file once as a exe. file and sent it to another computer, where it all worked but my videos, which didn't show up at all.
I also published them as SWF files, then put them up on my free website (where i don't have access to the ftp) and the videos still aren't there.
The videos will play fine in an SWF file on my computer, but i am assuming when they are away from the videos, they don't have a source to access them.
I also tried sending the videos along with the SWF files when sending to other computers and it still doesn't work.
I now have a free hosted website (with wix.com if that makes any difference) with my flash work on, but no videos. I even tried to embed a youtube video into the scenes the videos are meant to appear, and put the videos on youtube, then i discovered you can't put that sort of HTML into flash.
how to show the videos on these sort of website, or even better, how to keep them in original file when sending them, so they show on other computers.

Oct 5, 2011I've downloaded a template flash slideshow, and the client want's to display a price on the text the appears with the pictures. No problem I thought. Dollar signs work fine, but pound signs, no. Reading round on the net, this has something to do with embedded fonts ?
I emailed the developer who said I needed to add the pound sign to the text fields in the source file. Ok so I look through the source file, I can see one thing that looks like a text field. Forums say choose properties and the should be a font's dropdown.

Sep 10, 2010I've created an eBook that's 972 X 500 pixels (13.5" X 7"). The image in the browser is roughly 9.5 inches wide. Is there a way to make the browser display the image at actual size? Am I missing something here? The SWF file does print out at the true size from the browser.

I created a carousel based off the tutorials and it works great on my computer but, when I create an html file and attach the .swf file the flash file loads but, the icon images or anything from the .xml file doesn't appear.This is what I use to load my .swf file :

I'd like to be able to send the data I generate in flash to an external text file. I understand I need some sort of script to do that, but is this something I can run just on my machine? Sep 20, 2009If you go to the website: [URL]. The white square is my embedded flash swf file, but as you can see it isn't playing. In Flash, when I test the movie, it plays beautifully. When I put it on my webpage, it's just blank. What bothers me is that I embed Flash swf files frequently with zero problems. The only difference is that this is a video. The swf file is properly uploaded to my server. I've attached the swf file for reference.

Lad Test Website With SWF Flash File?
Feb 10, 2010I have a website that has a SWF embbeded on it with SWFObject. This SWF file has 1,5 MB. I would like to test if website (Lightppd) will be alive if 600 users per hour will try to open it. It will be approx. 900 MB / hour of transfer.
So I have 2 questions in one:
1) Does ab (Apache Bench) test handle SWFObject and gets SWF file while testing too?
2) If 1) is false how to load test my website with SWF file embedded properly?

I've used Authowrware previously and it was quite easy to create a large string of data (a comma separated list) and export that to a text file (and create the text file if it didn't already exist). I could then easily append additional rows of data (records) to the text file. We want to build a questionnaire that will store the data locally on the computer in a text file. Each record may have a few hundred data points in a comma separated list.
