They all have a different link added for each line in the list but I have been asked to make them change colour on rollover. Normally I would just create a button and rollover but I can't as the text is scrolling. Is there a way of adding AS2 or even css that means I can make each link change colour on RollOver?

In the following modified code I have managed to get the last image to run to the first but When you click the previous button on the first image you have to click it twice before it goes to the last image.

I am trying to make the bar in the Simple Flash XML Photogallery [URL] continuously loop and having a hard time. I don't really care if the mouse would control the thumbnails, just trying to have the thunbnails move left continuously. I have put two tutorials together and made the mouse control the thumbnails. I used the "Simple Flash XML Photogallery" and the "Scrolling Thumbnail Panel" from [URL] and came up with the file below. How to make this continuously loop or scroll. [URL]

Well, Id like to be able to hold down the button and have the movie scroll continously, like the scroll++ code does for textboxes.Is that possible?
I have a scroll over menu that works great (see code below) But I only want it to work when I scroll over the menu. Right now, it activates and scrolls even when I'm not hovering over the menu. My canvas is about 800x400 and the scroll over menu is only 200x350. I tried: on rollover disable but that did not work.

Basically I have a movieclip on the stage which is masked by some shape in order to get a curved look... inside this movieclip which has the instance name "thumbContainer" I am loading thumbs from an XML file. So now I want to scroll the thumbs when roll over the sides of the thumbContainer mc with a buffer area of 50 pixels in the middle. Also, I'd like to have arrows on the side that would also scroll the thumbs left and right.

I got the code for the scrolling menus online from another forum, but I can't figure out where that was. In any case, the current version of the code allows for the scrolling to happen when I open the page displays (enter Frame). But I can't figure out how to get the scrolling to happen only when I hover over the menu. I only want each one to scroll when I hover over the menu, not when I get on the page. I tried to replace the "enterFrame" part of the code, but it didn't work right. I need this done ASAP.

View 1 RepliesI have an input field with a variable that needs to be displayed within a dynamic text field. I have noticed that when I publish in Flash 8, there is a line break after the variable and I need to sentence to be continuous. This displays without the line break when I set the dynamic text field to "single line;" however, there is about a paragraph of text to be displayed so I need the text to be set to "multiline." For some odd reason, multiline displays a line break after the variable, whereas "single line" does not.
Here are my variable names -------------->>
Input Field variable name is "userName".
Dynamic text field variable name is "outputText".
The sentence to be displayed:
outputText = ""+userName+", and the sentence continues here for a paragraph and so on..."
How can I have the dynamic text field display continuously, without a line break?

Noob question, I hope. I need to create scrolling text areas with rich text format content. I know I can use the textArea component and set the htmlText property but converting all of my RTF to HTML is gonna be a major pain in the @$$. I keep getting into trouble thinking what's mindlessly easy in Director/Lingo is gonna be reasonably simple in Flash/AS3, I hoping this is just my inexperience with Flash getting in the way. Is there an easier way? I thought of embedding a PDF document but apparently that's not an option in Flash either (note: I know how to link a PDF doc, I need this text to display and scroll within the application, not just pop a new window on top).

The text box properties are set to "input text, multi line.
The problem is when I want to change just one line of the text to a bold or a different color, the whole text box contents changes. I've tried different property setting for the text box itself with no luck.
Im trying to open a .fla i got from the internet. Its from 2004 and in flashMX format.
On opening it flash gives an "unexpected file format" error.
Is this a corrupt file or isnt it possible to use this? If the latter, is there a way to convert a .fla from MX format to cs5.5?
I modified Kirupa's Changing Colors using Actionscript and now I am trying to load the swf into my FlashMX page .When I use LoadMovie the color changes won't work.When I use LoadMovieNum into 1 the color changes work but I can't dicate x and y positions and the changing colors swf pops up for every button pushed (because I sent it to level 1).I have tried thisX = _x and thisY = _y and then when I use the other four buttons, those swf are misalligned.

Since that number is based on caculations I'm doing to other variables, I know that I'm getting the variables correctly but I have to sometimes reload the web page multiple times in order for the song artist and title to display.

What I've done is to create a Flash-based display for a radio station that shows what song is currently playing on the radio. I'm using actionscript to read in a series of variables from a PHP file (sont title/artist, length of song, and time the song started playing).Now, rather than having the Flash file check the PHP file every 30 seconds and overload the servers, I'm using actionscript to calculate a countdown timer value for me and to only recheck the PHP file when that counter is < 0 (i.e. the song is over).
I tried to remake the random movement tutorial [URL] but at the end the objects stayed all at the same place. So I downloaded the fla at the bottom of the page and when I previewed the animation it also did not work. I use Flash MX on a Windows XP pc.
