I've noticed that embedding the swf in a div with style display:none does not actually hide the swf, so how would I go about accomplishing this? The goal is to have the flex app loading in the background while the user does other things.

Oct 8, 2008I am currently developing a site where I created custom cursors. I want the custom cursor to change only in the middle of the page where a greeting card can be created but return back to the regular mouse pointer at the top and bottom of the page where the navigation and the footer reside. As of now I have my code so that on EnterFrame mouse.hide and have it go to the movie clip that changes out the cursor. So where ever it is on the screen it stays as the custom cursor. But as I said before, I only want it to change out in the middle of the screen.

Flash :: JW Player Shows Blank Video In Explorer After Hiding And Showing
Sep 8, 2010In Internet Explorer 7 and 8 (WinXP/Flash 10), if I play my videos using the JW Player in the slider they work. However if I move to the next slide and then return to the original slide the video is no longer displayed - the audio is still audible and the video can be played and paused, but there is no image.
I've asked this question on [URL], but the support member cannot see this problem on their computer. Does anyone else see this issue, and if so, You can view the slider and video here: [URL]
Actionscript 3.0 :: Array For Hiding Multiple Movieclips?

What I would like is to be able to use the first three linesybutton1.visible=false;mybutton2.visible=false;mybutton3.visible=false;) and group them into an array or something so I can have that run within the functions showImage1,showImage2 and showImage3 without having to write it out each time like I've done belowHaven't really used arrays, so not sure how to do it.

ActionScript 3.0 :: Filtering Shown MovieClips (hiding / Unhiding)
Jul 22, 2009What I'm trying to do can be seen here, it's a simple OOP data visualiser which loads in an XML and displays the data in it. At the bottom you'll see 6 btns with which you can hide/unhide certain data and it works fine, but the problem starts when you disable multiple of the buttons (click the disable, and again to enable).
Say you've hidden the right-handed people (leaving 2 pinkish circles) and you then hide the female persons. The result will be that the visible (left-handed) woman will disappear, but the ones already hidden will reappear! I hide/unhide the circles based on their alpha value, but now that I've gotten to the point of filtering results, that doesn't seem to be the way to go..
IDE :: [Flash CS5.5 / Air 2.6] Movieclips Not Showing When .air App Is Run On Mac?
Jan 6, 2012I created an application in Flash CS5.5 using Adobe Air 2.6. When I test the app on my computer (where it was written) everything works fine. When I publish the application and run the .AIR on my computer everything works fine as well. The issues comes about when I attempt to install and run my AIR application on a Mac operating system. In this case when the application runs some graphics are visible while some aren't. Some movieclips/buttons are visible while others aren't.One example of this is the buttons. None of the buttons in the entire application are visible.When the user clicks the area where the button should be the button click event is fired and the app acts accordingly (i.e. the main menu button which can't be seen still sends the user to the main menu). What could be the problem?
I had thought of just converting the application to strictly Flash without AIR but I require AIR for the file system api as well as a couple other api components.

ActionScript 3.0 :: Showing Movieclips With A Changing Delay?
Oct 29, 2010Using a for loop I've created a few instances of a movieclip, but I'm having trouble trying to having them appear one after the other at an increasing pace.
For example, I want the first clip to show with a delay around 2 seconds and the last with almost no delay.
So far I've only been able get Timer or setInterval to have a single delay setting.
I'm not coming up with anything other than coding on the timeline which I'm trying to avoid.
Hiding Images Outside The Canvas?
Jul 9, 2009whenever I publish a FLA file I have, and load it onto a website, I see elements which aren't suppose to be within the frame sitting outside the frame.These elements are outside the canvas in flash and come in for brieft flashy moments but then fly back out again.How do I hide all files outside the canvas? I tried masking the top layer and adding everything underneath it and locking it but that never worked.

Jan 23, 2011I have a small microsite built using Flash 4. It contains 5 'pages' assigned to individual keyframes, each keyframe separated by 5 frames (F5s). Each Keyframe is labelled 'page1' through to 'page5'. I have a navigation bar for the entire site which includes NEXT and PREVIOUS buttons. When the user reaches the LAST PAGE/KEYFRAME I do not want the NEXT BUTTON to show. I suspect it is something simple like nextbutton.visible = true - but I've spent a day trying to work out how to do this but without success.I am using AS3 and the existing coding is shown below.[code]

Dec 29, 2009I download a flash template to take apart and play around with to make sure i still know my way around the software. Everything was going great until I discovered there are part of it that I can not find. The animation are not in the timeline or anywhere else I've looked. When I scrub through it they aren't there, but when I preview the movie (F12) they are always there. I managed to delete the pictures in those particular animations, but can not edit or find anything else.

Apr 19, 2009I'm building an mp3 player expressively to make my music URLs a little less steal-able. Forgive my hacking ignorance here, but would it be better to embed my playlist XML (with the URLs) in the SWF rather than having the SWF read the XML file from my server? Seems that the latter approach would be easier to intercept...
I'm pretty sure that no one wants my mp3s badly enough to decompile the code. But with the player currently at my site, my XML playlists -- with the URLs -- started to come up in Google searches. Would rather avoid *that* level of exposure.

Hiding A Layer Through Action Script?
Jun 7, 2009I've done some searching and it looks like you cant hide a layer using action script. I'm going to have a page with a lot of form controls on it and when the user clicks the submit button, i want all those controls to go away so that i can display something else.I really dont want to have to do control._visible = false for every single item. I did see one person saying i could attach those form fields (movieclips) to a parent movieclip, and then just make the parent visibl = false. would that be the best way to hide a bunch of controls without explicitly setting the visability on each movieclip

Jul 14, 2009I have an XML file that my .swf opens and reads from my server. I actually have the .swf call a php file that builds the xml output which works fine. My question is, is it possible for anyone that can see my .swf project on their browser get the path to the php file that it calls?
Can I use POST in actionscript instead of GET when getting a url so I could hide the variables sent?
Is there a header or something that flash sends that I catch with my php file? So i can tell if flash is calling it, or if some user is just directly going to the file to get the information. Or if all else fails, can I have flash create a file on my server that when I call my php file it first checks to see if that file holds the right data before spitting out the xml. When other people link to my flash file on their server, it seems this method might still work seeing as it's my servers flash .swf being called.

Oct 29, 2009We have a little in-house LMS with courses built in Flash. Scores are updated and retrieved with POSTs to PHP scripts which query a MySQL database. All the course content and quiz questions are in xml files. Those XML files are easily accessible from a user's Temporary Internet Files (sort of SCORM style, for those familiar with it) and while you'd have to be pretty desperate to cheat at something like a Fire Safety test, it's still a vulnerability we'd like to solve.
I intend to move the quiz data (and eventually, the course content) into a MySQL database, then probably build the XML in PHP and echo that to the Flash course (as we've been doing to update and retrieve assessment scores). I think I could limit how and when the xml is displayed by passing hashes and shared secrets and whatnot between the PHP page and Flash, but this only limits outside access, and anyone viewing the course legitimately will still see the XML passed around (I think..).
Surely I'm not reinventing fire here. Is there a method or a technology in existence that allows the safe, discrete passage of xml into Flash?

I am having trouble changing the tabs visibility. They are currently always shown.
I have seen a getTabAt on the mx TabBar but the look of the tab is important and the requirement is for it to look like a tab bar rather than a button bar.
