ActionScript 2.0 :: Hosting SWFs On A Separate Domain?

May 19, 2010

I have an issue that is nearly identical to the poster of this thread, but this post is from 2007 and I think things might have changed since then.

To sum it up: I have a website with HTML files on Server A, and SWFs on Server B.

Users navigate to playgame.html (Server A) with MainMovie.swf (Server B) embedded in it.

MainMovie.swf is supposed to load a number of SWFs (from Server B) throughout. As far as I know they all need to be called with an absolute path, because a relative path will construct the path through the URL of the browser page which is still on Server A. Am I on the right path so far?

My MainMovie.swf literally calls hundreds of SWFs in hundreds of places and setting them all to absolute paths would take forever.

What other options do I have so that it all works on a remote server with relative URLs? MainMovie.swf is in a remote sandbox and can supposedly access files within its own domain, but it's the relative URLs that are killing me.

One solution I could think of is to load an html frame from Server B within playgame.html on Server A, and embed the SWF in there....

Media Server :: Use A Separate Video Hosting Company To Handle My Mobile Videos?

Dec 14, 2010

- Is there a benefit to hosting FLV files on a Flash Media Server when they are under 2-3 minutes?I've been working on a couple different video projects as of late... some are simple web player with 30 second ads and others are working with longer videos like 2-3 minutes. I currently have an FLV hosting provider running Flash Media Server but with videos so small don't they download for the user as progressive anyway and there is no real benefit whether I am using my FLV host or my traditional web host?

i also use a separate video hosting company to handle my mobile videos mainly because I am a bit naive on how that works as well. I had a project with straight links to play video on mobile phones (with three different version served up based on OS). But it seems like most of those were progressive downloads as well.

ActionScript 2.0 :: Loading THREE Separate .swfs Into THREE Separate Tweens

Jan 17, 2011

This is NOT the same as my last thread as i am after three and NOT ONE as last time. In the attached movie there are three seperate movies loading into three seperate tweens. Please note that i am happy with this movie as it is, and do not want to change anything about it except for the script itself. It refurs to three seperate clips "b.a","d.c" and "f.e". What i want is for the script to incorperate all three clips under one name of "mc" And instead of have three seperate widths, "width 1","width2" and "width3" i want the script to also incorperate all three widths and heights into just one name of "width" and one name of "height".

ActionScript 3.0 :: Secure SWFs In Same Domain Name?

Jan 25, 2010

I want to secure and to load two SWFs files from the same domain, does anyone have any examples and methods applying with allowDomain() that can be used to allow the SWFs to communicate and share data and functions.

ex: www.example.com
main.swf
about.swf (child)
contact.swf (child)
...

Most articles that I found it's based on cross-domain which is not what I want.

ActionScript 3.0 :: Sandboxing SWFs Loaded From The Same Domain

Jan 31, 2010

I'm building a Flash arcade system that people can deploy to their own websites, which loads its Flash content into a security sandbox. Basically, I'm interested in finding a way to prevent a loaded SWF from accessing the stage.

As you know, once an object in a loaded SWF has access to the stage, it can use event listeners to secure itself to the display list, circumvent Loader.unloadAndStop(), and potentially conduct malicious activities such as key logging. I'm looking to prevent that.

Flash automatically puts SWFs in a sandbox when they're loaded in a domain or subdomain that is different from the parent SWF's. However, the market I'm targeting with this arcade system will probably not have a clear grasp of these concepts, and it's very likely that they will load a SWF into the arcade from the same domain, and that SWF can be malicious. Therefore I'm trying to sandbox content loaded from the same domain as the loader SWF.

ActionScript 3.0 :: Loading Cross Domain Asset SWFs

Jun 2, 2011

Yet another irritating technical issue, it's the first time I've tried loading assets from another server and it's not working.

Apparently having the loader context check policy file does nothing with SWFs, I've tried with and without, no difference.

I've tried Security.allowDomain("*"); and loading a crossdomain.xml file where the assets are located, and no joy. Every time I try it, I just get an error trying to load a class (that works fine from local SWFs).

I'm compiling from CS5 with access network selected. Also tried with Flex, same thing.

How To Communicate Between 2 SWFs In Separate PCs

Aug 5, 2009

I was able to use LocalConnection to have 2 swfs communicating when both sitting in the same PC, or upload those on to the server and accessing those from the same PC. Is there any way to do this between two PCs, one PC running send.swf, controlling another PC running receive.swf? I checked adobe site for LocalConnection and it looks like this only works within one client PC.

ActionScript 2.0 :: Controlling And Preloading Separate SWFs On A Website?

Jul 14, 2005

My Website opens, its written in HTML... There is a "Navigation" FLash at the top of the page which opens up HTML documents into the "Main Frame" below.Ok now... When the Website first loads up, In the Main frame of the page I want a flash swf to play as an intro to the website (Its a band website). Once the (intro) Swf ends I want it to tell the Navigation Flash Menu Swf to go ahead and show the buttons so people can navigate.Thats my first problem, or task to solve.2nd... If it is possible to control Swf's from an external one it must be possible to preload them aswell right? So what I want to do, is the site to load up... and all the preloading done from the Navigation Swf to account for both Swfs (Intro and Navigation)

Actionscript 3 :: Share A NetConnection/NetStream Between Separate SWFs In The Same HTML Page

Dec 21, 2010

I am aware that I can share simple Objects using LocalConnection, but this does not (in my limited testing) appear to work with NetConnection or NetStream.

In short, I wish to have a single SWF that acts as a NetConnection proxy for other SWF files in the HTML page. The client SWFs require direct access to NetStream objects on the proxys NetConnection.

Is this at all feasible, or will each client SWF require its own NetConnection?

I am aware that I could build the entire application in flash and utilize a single NetConnection internally, but this is NOT what I want to do.

ActionScript 3.0 :: Assign 5 Separate Dynamic Text Fields To 5 Separate Buttons?

Apr 18, 2010

What I need to do is assign 5 separate dynamic text fields to 5 seperate buttons and at the same time to those same five buttons i would like to add 5 images that i would  be able to change merely by swapping out the images in the file theyre in on the server.I would also like to get a nice transition between the images...ALSO i want to dynamically load the images for the buttons that will be used for switching from picture to picture(which im thinking i will be able to do after i know the how to do point the aforementioned things.)

Through tutorials I've found around the net I've been able to get most of the parts together... but i get lost because what they show you for AS2 they don't for AS3 and vice versa, at least that ive seen.so... I guess my question is... would i need to set up 5 seperate dynamic text fields on the stage and then set each one of them to one of the corresponding button. If so what AS code would i need to use to do so.  And if not what would i need to do?

The other part of the question would be I know about the UILoader... would i be able to use it as my buttons and images, if so would i need 5 seperate ui loaders for both the Thumbnail buttons and the images or is there a way that would be better to do it?  and once i do that would i do the transitions using frames and tweens like with AS2?

I can then easily switch between the actions frames from the menu bar on the left of the actions input panel. However if I try and do this on any of my projects i've been working on for a while when I create a new blank keyframe in the actions layer and try to add actions to it, I get sent straight back to my first actions keyframe and not a nice blank page. Can I even apply seperate actions to seperate keyframes?

ActionScript 2.0 :: Getting Information About The URL Hosting A SWF?

Mar 25, 2005

Does anyone know of a way to obtain information about the environment that a SWF is served into? Things like the URL of the page that is hosting the SWF?

So say there's the URL [URL] which has the movie flashmovie.swf embeded in it ... is there a way to get the URL from inside flashmovie.swf and cast it into a string datatype?

I've been picking apart the _global object by recursively un-hiding it and the objects it holds properties, but so far have not come up with anything that could prove useful.

ActionScript 3.0 :: Hosting Swf Files Online

Jun 26, 2011

I was able to get it all to work well. I finished the Flash based simple quiz game I was making. I apologize if the title is vague, but I thought this best described the issue at hand for me. If not, I hope the detailed question below can be of better use. What I want to do with this flash, which I've published as a swf, html file, is to upload them online to a forum I've been working on. This forum is a free creating forum, Forumotion. Anyway I have the files all done, but need a way to host it on the forum now.

I've been searching and doing research for free hosting sites to upload my swf file to, but have not had much luck. I was just wondering if anyone knew any good, legitimate, and preferably free hosting sites, which I could create a domain space on. I am also unsure if it is possible to do such a thing with a flash/swf files that have been created in Action Script 3.

Php :: Securing Flex App On Shared Hosting

Oct 20, 2011

I finished a Flex app using FB4.5 and uploaded and tested it fine to a shared host. I'm now in the process of securing the app using https, but have landed in a quagmire.I forced the load of all pages to https with .htaccess so that the Flex app loads with SSL. Problem is that I get a connection failed ('BadVersion') when the app makes a data service call using the gateway.php file because of the .htaccess force (it is looking for http rather than https). I believe I can hardcode the https path in the Flash Builder class file, but I don't want prevent the app from working on my dev machine either. Also, even if the gateway.php file is called using SSL, will the following calls to the PHP files containing the actual SQL queries fail because of the forced SSL by the .htaccess directives.

Instead of using .htaccess, I have also successfully used PHP to secure the initial launch of the app with a https redirect statement in the beginning. This allows the app to work, calling the gateway.php file fine because it isn't forcing https on everything. BUT, this defeats the purpose of trying to get everything to be encrypted. Is is it necessary to have the gateway.php file launched on SSL because of transmitting in binary AMF?

Flash :: API Method On The Same Server That Is Hosting The SWF File?

Nov 4, 2011

I'm trying to request to an API method on the same server that is hosting the SWF file. I'm getting a security error 2048. This occurs whether I use POST or GET, and leaving the request data blank doesn't improve things. Nothing is sent in either case, and I get a SecurityErrorEvent to stare at. Everything works smoothly from the IDE.

The applet isn't trying to load the crossdomain.xml file, so it apparently isn't considering the request to be cross-domain, and shouldn't be any other domains involved. Loading images from the swfRoot works fine.

Is there anything else that could be causing this error? Furthermore, is there any way I can find out more details about what exactly is going on? Tracing the toString of the ErrorEvent only gives me "Error 2048" - I've seen reference in other questions to messages for this error that read "cannot load data from XXX", but I can't seem to get one of these (I'm using Flash CS5).

[Code]...
