I am in the middle of creating a Flash website for our baseball association. It will probably be below 2 megs in size. for a low-cost or free web hosting site? I do not know where to start.
View 1 RepliesMy Flash file works fine on local file, but when loaded to hosting site, nothing shows. Zilch. Not had this problem before, but I've not tried with this hosting service before, which is GoDaddy. Could that be the problem? Or is there something wrong with my coding? You can see the animation at [URL] but when it is clicked on, instead of going to the site I specify [URL] it goes to [URL]

I'm creating transitions for each external .swf as they are unloaded so when the user clicks next, the current .swf transitions out and the new one comes in. Since loadMovie and levels are obsolete in 3.0,I've looked into the transitions manager class, but some of my transitions are pretty intricate so I would need to use timeline based tweens.

I've worked pretty extensively with the Google Maps Javascript API, but no others. My basic requirements are, in no particular order[code]...
Flexible: the Google Maps JS API is a good example of this. Basically this leads to lots of good things like numerous third-party plugins/extensions, and puts a lot of power in the devs' hands.
Well-documented and supported: again, the GMap JS API is a good example. If I'm going to start working with a new, rich API, I'm going to need to be able to find answers.
As of now, I'm inclined to use the Google Map Javascript API since I am familiar with it. However, the question of whether or not the Flash API might be able to handle many points more efficiently and gracefully prompted this SO question.
I am preparing an offer for a customer. They proide weekly data to different organizations. There is huge amount data suits OLAP that needed to be visualized with charts and pivot tables on web and custom reports will be built by non-it persons (an easy gui). They will enter a date range, location which data columns to be included and generate report and optionally export the data to Excel. They currently prepare reports with MS Excel with Pivot Tables and but they need a better online tool now to show data to their customers. Tables are huge and need of drill-down functionality. My current knowledge Spring, Flex, MySql, Linux. I have some knowledge of PostgreSQL and MSSQL and Windows. What is the easiest way of doing this project. Do you think that SSRP (haven't tried yet) and ASP.NET better suits for this kind of job. Actually I prefer open source solutions. Flex have OLAP Data Grid control which do aggregation on client side. JasperServer seems promising but it seems I need enterprise version (multiple organizations and ad hoc queries). What about Modrian + Flex + PostgreSQL solution?

View 3 RepliesI have an AS2 swf that has an array that is updated when a user clicks on items on the screen. The array stores the currently selected items. This As2 swf is hosted by an AS3 swf loaded in using Loader class and a local connection between them is managed by swfBridge. I want to know what the best way for both AS3 and AS2 swfs to share this array is? or how can I call a function in the AS2 (client) swf and return the array to the AS3 (host) swf when it needs to read the items from the array?

Viddler looks like a good solution. It's is a little more expensive but streaming is available.We're trying to avoid enterprise solutions such as Akamai, etc.Any others out there?I also know about Red5 but prefer to have it hosted.
I'm trying to request to an API method on the same server that is hosting the SWF file. I'm getting a security error 2048. This occurs whether I use POST or GET, and leaving the request data blank doesn't improve things. Nothing is sent in either case, and I get a SecurityErrorEvent to stare at. Everything works smoothly from the IDE.
The applet isn't trying to load the crossdomain.xml file, so it apparently isn't considering the request to be cross-domain, and shouldn't be any other domains involved. Loading images from the swfRoot works fine.
Is there anything else that could be causing this error? Furthermore, is there any way I can find out more details about what exactly is going on? Tracing the toString of the ErrorEvent only gives me "Error 2048" - I've seen reference in other questions to messages for this error that read "cannot load data from XXX", but I can't seem to get one of these (I'm using Flash CS5).

I'm looking for the very least expensive host or CDN to host and stream from (live & on-demand) using FMIS 3.5 and related flash servers. Can anyone provide the cheapest place to host and CDN from? I willl consider both Adobe or Wowza.. but ideally want Adobe.
Also, many cheaper hosts or CDNs use Wowza, i'm wondering if you have any major pros vs cons type comments about going with Wowza?
When I changed hosting from the companies hosting to my own personal GoDaddy hosting everything went right, except for 2 flash slide shows (Simple rotating images). They just apear as clear boxes now. You can see what I am talking about here: [URL] and here [URL] . You will notice the empty large empty box on the right in both pages. When you right click on it the browser recognizes that it is flash. On the Piza site I tried taking out the original code and entering the flash object via Dreamweaver CS5, but that yeilded the same results (I only mention this because the code on that site will thus look a bit different).

View 3 Repliesi have made a site in flash. stage size 955x600 i have exported it as fullscreen with no scale. the problem is that if i browse the site with a resolution of 800x600 (760x420 if i'm not wrong), the browser dont' add scrolls and its impossible to see the complete site. I see the HTML code for setting this up (available from my host), but do not know how to get it to work in my Flash site.
