ActionScript 2.0 :: Invisible Btn Not Playing Movieclip On Rollover?
Apr 26, 2010
I'm using AS2 (Flash CS3). I have an invisible button that on rollover should play a movie clip. Within that movie clip I need it to play frame 33. However, when I use the following code it does absolutely nothing. Instance name of the movie clip is "flavorIcons".

I've a main movie, for example, this movie has 3 buttons, in each button there's a MovieClip in the Over area, for example button1 contains a MovieClip with some animation, this clip has an Instance name clip1_mc, ok, untill this, everything it's ok, the effect it's easy to achieve, when I rollover my mouse over that button, the clip called clip1_mc starts to play, piece of cake, the problem is this, what happens if I call an extrenal .SWF, this .SWF contains a simple button, when I rollover this button I want to play my clip inside in my button in my main Movie, I cannot do this, I was trying with something like this: on (rollOver) { _parent.clip1_mc.play(); } But this is not working.
I created a map which can be moved up, down, left, and right. On the map are invisible buttons. When the mouse moves over an invisible button, a movie clip appears like a pop up info sign, doesn't matter where I moved the map earlier. All this I accomplished by using this actionscript:
This is a very simple thing I want to do: show informational popups when an area of the screen is rolled over. I was able to get this working in action script 3 with MouseEventListener and the visible =true/false property but can't seem to get it working correctly in AS2.
I have created a sliding rollover panel so that a user can hover over an invisible button to reveal the panel itself. The panel itself is under a movie clip which basically motion tweens the panel to slide in and out effectively. Then there is the panel_mc inside the movie clip which contains an img. The one panel can slide out but for some reason cannot slide back, even when you rollover the button(popUp_btn)!!!! The compiler errors does not even display this error!!!
Here is the code for the main AS timeline in the site: stop(); panel_mc_arrangement.panelInner_mc_arrangement.popUp_btn.addEventListener(MouseEvent.ROLL_OVER,rollFarrange); function rollFarrange(event:MouseEvent):void{ if(panel_mc_arrangement.currentFrame <<2){ panel_mc_arrangement.play(); }else{ panel_mc_arrangement.gotoAndPlay(20); }}
Basically I need a dynamic text field to be invisible on rollover and when you move your mouse off it, it becomes visible again. I have it working (see code below) however when the cursor is over the field and the cursor moves slightly over the area (still keeping it invisible) the cursor flickers between the normal arrow pointer and the text cursor. Is there a way I can stop this? Is there a better way to do this rollover that would prevent it?
I have an image of a target on stage, that moves left and right. In the center of the image is an invisible button, occupying the centre circle of the target. The idea is you click the invisible button on the moving target and this starts another movie playing. Seems to me the action script should reside in the button, and be something like this:
This is the third thread I've written for my current project (1st was answered perfectly, 2nd failed [but I still figured it out anyways]) but I'm not sure if there is a solution to this problem. I can't really explain my problem, so once again I've included a helpful animation to show you what I mean. Bear in mind that the pale-blue box represents the movie clip's borders, and those borders are usually changed to include the animation (instead of the borders moving with the animation, the borders get bigger).
For the animation problem, I've already got a solution: create an invisible movie clip that has the exact size and shape of the animated movie clip and make it follow the movie clip as it animates, and make the hitTest check the invisible movie clip instead of the animated one. As for the rotation problem, well, I don't know how to fix it. Is there a way to change that?
I have a movie clip that I have coded to be (alpha 0), on rollover play movie clip (alpha-1), then on rollout alpha goes back to 0. So the rollover alpha part and rollout back to alpha 0 works great, but on rollover the mc is not playing?
My buttons are play_btn (rollover) and stop_btn (rollout), and the movie clip is steam_mc.
I've got a simple rotating banner and would like to have an mp3 play if someone rolls over the banner and stop if they move their mouse away. I grabbed some code from this forum and placed it on my button instance but it's not working. Here are the working files: [URL]. I've "linked" the mp3 file and given it the ID of "makin" and posted the following actionscript on the button instance:
Actionscript Code: // button actionson (rollOver){ // creates a new object from Sound classyourSound = new Sound(); // attach the 'idSound' named from libraryyourSound.attachSound("makin"); // start the sound attachedyourSound.start(0,1);}on (rollOut){yourSound.stop();}
Here is my class, but when I rollover the button, especially near the edge of the button the sound plays continuously. I have tried to set up a boolean variable and set it true after the sound plays and false on mouse out and only play when false, but that didn't work either... I was thinking about setting up a timer to handle it, but I wanted to make sure there wasn't something simpler I was missing first.
This is a project I am working on for my job's website. When you rollover the red dots I want the wave animation to play but I also want words to come up in the blue bar describing the location of that specific dot (e.g. Singapore), but I dont want the wave animation itself to have rollover because that causes problems. Right now the "dot" button has a "hit" area that plays the wave movieclip so the wave doesnt have a rollover property. I tried just adding another rollover property to the whole "dot" movieclip that would display the descriptions, but that made it where the wave mc wouldnt play on rollover. I also want the wave to play out in its entirety, not disappear as soon as you rollout.
I am working on an application for an advocacy group for people with learning difficulties. I have ran into a few issues though that I can't really figure out.http:[url]....
If you go to the above link and make your way to the menu, you will see that a black arrow flashes when you hover over a button. Then when you click it, it moves the next page, however when you click the menu button to go back, the black arrow will still be flashing, instead of returning to its first button state. The main menu is removed before it procedes to the next screen, like so:
Code: public function confSubMenuOneScreen():void { subMenuOneScreen = new SubMenuOne(); removeChild(mainmenu)[code].....
I've just started get the hang of Flash, but am not too skilled with AS2 yet apparently. I was wondering how I would go about if I want the scene to pause when I roll the mouse over it, and then continue playing when I roll out.
I figured it would be something like this: on(rollOver){ stop(); } on(rollOut) { ??? }
#1. How do I get a movie to close after it has played? #2. In my menu I have 8 links. I'd like to have 7 links disappear when the user rolls over the 1 link. How would I make the other 7 disappear when the user is rolled over 1?
i can in AS 1.0 attach a sound and play it on rollover fine...
Pretty much i have a button when you roll over it plays a sound thats it...very simple....i also know i can do it on the keyframes but i was hoping to do it dynamically as my site is completely created using AS barely no keyframes and i do not wish to start...
I'm using a MOUSE_OVER event to display an invisible movieclip...so when user hovers mouse over movieclip it tweens from 0 alpha to 1 alpha. However, I'm having problems with it. The movieclip is a MusicPlayer, which contains other movie clips within it. When I move the mouse over the music player's background it appears....I then move the mouse over the Play button and briefly the MusicPlayer disappears then reappears. This happens every time I move the mouse to different elements of the MusicPlayer? It quickly flashes invisible, then becomes visible again and its a pretty annoying effect.
Are there any alternatives to the MOUSE_OVER event? I was thinking about maybe drawing a rectangle that covered the area of the music player but was separate to the music player, so whenever the mouse was within the rectangle's x and y coordinates the MusicPlayer would become visible.
I have a button in a movieclip. Mc is activated by an invisible btn, on the timeline.... I want the btn "thumb6" in the movieclip to go to the frame called "img1", which is placed on the timeline also.
I am loading jpg's, and I want to make a Movieclip('MC') invisible when there is no jpg to load (because it just is not there). How can I detect if there is no jpg, and then make the MC invisible? I think I should use onData, but I can't make it work.
[AS] function laadNail3(foto) { var my_lv:LoadVars = new LoadVars(); my_lv.onData = function(src:String) {
I have a movie clip which has a dynamic mask applied to it to provide a scroll effect.
The mask is generated with the 'create blank movieclip' method.
So the mask is a movie clip over a movie clip.
I hunted for invisible text last night and found this link [URL]
which implies it's to do with the mask being on a layer, but from what I can gather from reading the AS, it's not it's on a new blank movie clip.
Also many other links I found all imply it's an issue with dynamic text and the font needs to be embeded, but the underlying text is not dynamic, it's static normal text which has been used in a movieclip to create animated rollover/out effects.
So why is the text missing when the content is scrolled into view?
If you hover over where the text is supose to be, the animation plays and the text becomes visible?
Also the arrow graphic next to the text which forms part of the animation does display; it's just the text portion which is invisible?
Is it possible to create a invisible mc with in 2 other invisible mc's and if so would there be any complications. Im trying to do something similar and it gets to the second layer but then doesnt want to load the third inv-mc. Like loading an external swf to a container mc then in that same mc have another external load and then another.
I have a MovieClip of an bicycle, and I've attached and event listener for mouse clicks on that movieclip. The mouse clicks events are raised when I click on the bike, but I really want to be able to click somewhere in the entire region of the movieclip's rect (to make it easier for the audience this is for to be able to click).
I am trying to activate a rollOver-function when the mouse rolls over a movieclip inside of a movieclip.On the main window (root), first you rollOver a button where a window shows up with more options (movieclips).From stage, my first movieclip is called "catapultas_read_more" which leads to amother movieclip called "pic1_mc". The label that is going to play when mouse over on pic1_mc is "rollOn".I tried this.gotoAndPlay("rollOn); directly inserted to the movieclip, but the movieclip inside pic1_mc never starts
I am trying to figure out how to make a bottom bar similar to the one seen ontions inside the bar- here's what I've got so far:as you can see I have a date/time MC inside the bar_mc which is working fine but whenever I try to have a new rollover/rollout movieclip (or button) inside the bar_mc it won't work/won't show rollover animation.
