ActionScript 2.0 :: MovieClip Activated By Invisible Btn On Timeline

I have a button in a movieclip. Mc is activated by an invisible btn, on the timeline.... I want the btn "thumb6" in the movieclip to go to the frame called "img1", which is placed on the timeline also.
i'm trying to make a zoom in and out of a movieclip when certain event is activated, anyone knows a way of doing this? i tried with mc.scaleX++ or mc.scaleY++ (i tried with mc.scaleX+10000) but nothing happened.[code]
I've been searching this forum and googling for quite some time, and I haven't been able to come up with anything. Anyway, here's a description:I have an array that has multiple instances of the same movie clip. I add them to the stage and then add an eventListener to each one.I have that working fine. The problem is, I'd like to add a filter to them and remove an eventListener once the eventHandler has been activated. However, I have no way to know which instance set off the eventListener. Is there any way I can pass that information into the eventHandler function? Or is there any way I can access the parent from the evenHandler itself? [code]
I want to make the timeline go to the next frame (ie gotoAndStop) only if two button instances are invisible. For the buttons I have scripted an on(release) to make them invisible, but I don't know how to use the if function to make my animation progress when they are both invisible.
This is the third thread I've written for my current project (1st was answered perfectly, 2nd failed [but I still figured it out anyways]) but I'm not sure if there is a solution to this problem. I can't really explain my problem, so once again I've included a helpful animation to show you what I mean. Bear in mind that the pale-blue box represents the movie clip's borders, and those borders are usually changed to include the animation (instead of the borders moving with the animation, the borders get bigger).
For the animation problem, I've already got a solution: create an invisible movie clip that has the exact size and shape of the animated movie clip and make it follow the movie clip as it animates, and make the hitTest check the invisible movie clip instead of the animated one. As for the rotation problem, well, I don't know how to fix it. Is there a way to change that?
I'm using AS2 (Flash CS3). I have an invisible button that on rollover should play a movie clip. Within that movie clip I need it to play frame 33. However, when I use the following code it does absolutely nothing. Instance name of the movie clip is "flavorIcons".
I'm using a MOUSE_OVER event to display an invisible movieclip...so when user hovers mouse over movieclip it tweens from 0 alpha to 1 alpha. However, I'm having problems with it. The movieclip is a MusicPlayer, which contains other movie clips within it. When I move the mouse over the music player's background it appears....I then move the mouse over the Play button and briefly the MusicPlayer disappears then reappears. This happens every time I move the mouse to different elements of the MusicPlayer? It quickly flashes invisible, then becomes visible again and its a pretty annoying effect.
Are there any alternatives to the MOUSE_OVER event? I was thinking about maybe drawing a rectangle that covered the area of the music player but was separate to the music player, so whenever the mouse was within the rectangle's x and y coordinates the MusicPlayer would become visible.
I am loading jpg's, and I want to make a Movieclip('MC') invisible when there is no jpg to load (because it just is not there). How can I detect if there is no jpg, and then make the MC invisible? I think I should use onData, but I can't make it work.

I have a movie clip which has a dynamic mask applied to it to provide a scroll effect.
The mask is generated with the 'create blank movieclip' method.
So the mask is a movie clip over a movie clip.
I hunted for invisible text last night and found this link [URL]
which implies it's to do with the mask being on a layer, but from what I can gather from reading the AS, it's not it's on a new blank movie clip.
Also many other links I found all imply it's an issue with dynamic text and the font needs to be embeded, but the underlying text is not dynamic, it's static normal text which has been used in a movieclip to create animated rollover/out effects.
So why is the text missing when the content is scrolled into view?
If you hover over where the text is supose to be, the animation plays and the text becomes visible?
Also the arrow graphic next to the text which forms part of the animation does display; it's just the text portion which is invisible?

Is it possible to create a invisible mc with in 2 other invisible mc's and if so would there be any complications. Im trying to do something similar and it gets to the second layer but then doesnt want to load the third inv-mc. Like loading an external swf to a container mc then in that same mc have another external load and then another.
I have a MovieClip of an bicycle, and I've attached and event listener for mouse clicks on that movieclip. The mouse clicks events are raised when I click on the bike, but I really want to be able to click somewhere in the entire region of the movieclip's rect (to make it easier for the audience this is for to be able to click).
I simply want to assign a variable to the current frame of the main timeline (not movieclip timeline) I already know about _currentframe and it doesn't help in this case.

Why does a child movieclip only show the first frame within the IDE, regardless of where you are in the parent timeline?If you throw a movieclip with 25 frames onto the main timeline, which also has 25 frame, you don't see the nested movieclip's frame-progress while you scroll through the main timeline.Is there a setting somewhere in preferences or somewhere that will enable you to see a nested movieclip's frame position from the main timeline? I have a button inside a movieclip, to which I would like to apply a rollover function. When rolled over, this button (inside MOVIECLIP 1) would make (MOVIECLIP 2) jump to second frame. I'm using Flash 8.This is turning onto a real headache for me, since i've searched every single forum and thread concerning this matter, and nothing seems to work.
The "size" is 1200x800 pix, and here is were the problem is. When a person look at the site with a 1280x800 or smaller a bit of the site is not there. I don't want to resize the file, so i thougt that the easiest way to solve this problem were to input a scroll, but I can't get the damn scroll activated. Do i need a huge actionscript or is it as simple as mark somewhere in publish (when you create the html-file) need answer as fast as possible.
I have a main timeline with a button. I need the action for this button to gotoAndStop to a frame within a movieclip, within another movieclip. I have tried on the main timeline setting the actions of the button to:

and tried:

If I double-click on the movie clip (clip1) and then double-click on the movie clip (clip2), I have several frames labeled "frame1", "frame2", etc.The button doesn't work.
Working on an RPG type flash, and I have to be able to control a text-box from quite a few locations. The one that is causing me trouble is the inventory. I need to be able to access the textbox with an instance of "statusWindow" from within the inventory clip (instance name "inventory"), so when I mouse over an item within the movieclip it will change the status window on the stage.In this instance I want to mouse over inventory.invHealth from the main timeline to get the display.itemName and itemProps are strings containing information about the item.I tried the following but it gave me a "possibly undefined" error.

I have an object that has been added to the stage, exported properly for actionscript, and given an instance name.It's class file is this:

And yet none of this works. The trace doesn't even go off, meaning the constructor is never activated. It's linked properly; if I go to the movie clip's preferences and hit "edit class file" it takes me to the proper one.It's possible that the problem lies with the frame numbering. The first time this object is added to the display list is in Frame 2...and it says "export in Frame 1" but I'm not exactly sure what that means or how it affects the class definition or how to get around it. I'm trying to figure out how to get buttons to be activated by keyboard presses. I have found how to do that with specific keys ... but not with ANY keypress. I'm making a game for tiny children and they can't manipulate the mouse well. So I'm setting up a few things on stage that will run in a certain order when the child presses any key on the keyboard. For example, any key is pressed, dog wags his tail .... any key is pressed again, cat jumps, any key is pressed a third time, cow munches hay, and so on till it goes through a bunch of animal animations, then goes back to the first one. I'm pretty new at this stuff and have been banging my head against google for days trying to find the answer to this out there with no luck! I could do either movieclips or movie clips inside buttons if that makes sense.
When the user mouses over a button, it brings up a menu. I want the user to be able to click things in that menu that pops up, but of course when the user moves the cursor off the button and onto the menu, it deactivates the button and the menu disappears. Is there a way around this?
I'm trying to create a scrollpane that is activated by a button. I've already created the scrollpane and linked it up with the text I want, I just need to know how to make the button activate it.
anyone got an idea of how I can create sound or voice activated animations? What I want to do is set up a microphone so when a viewer speaks, a movie will either activate a sound clip or an animation?
I have a mc that when clicked moves off screen, however when it starts to move, once the mouse cursor is off it, it moves back to its original position because my onOut event is to have it move back to the original position.
How do I avoid the onOver activating after the mc has been clicked?
(p.s. - I'm wanting the button to also lead into the next frame and to never be seen again).
