ActionScript 2.0 :: Kirupa Slideshow - How To Center The Image

I am working on a flash project right now with the help of the tutorials found on this website and decided to use and modify this existing slideshow by Kirupa.

What I did was, I resized it according to my projects demands, which is 1024x650 [URL]Everything is working perfectly except for one drawback.
Some of my images are sized 440x650. Normally, when I link that to the XML file provided, it is aligned by default to the left. My current solution was to resize the entire file into 1024x650 creating the illusion that the image is at the center because I included the seamless background on the saved jpeg.My question is this, is there any way I can center the 440x650 image to be displayed in the slideshow?

I've been going through the tutorials and forum trying to build a photo slideshow. I managed to get the slideshow working with buttons, but am really stuck with trying to center the images ... I'm using portrait and lanscape images, and want them both to be vertically and horizontally centered in a 504x504 moive.

I am using the Kirupa XML slideshow code and making somechanges so that I can use it with my images. I can change thedocument size and movieclip size to hold my larger images(830*400). The problem is that I don't want the white borders atthe top of and on the left of the image. How do I adjust this?

I have adapted the kirupa xml slideshow tutorial.However I would like to create a up and down buttons that jog the thumbnails + or - 3 thumb images either way.Is this a case of creating an on (release) action that tells the slider to advance a specified distance??[code]

I'm trying to modify Kirupa's xml photo slideshow by adding an extra text field, which if I understand correctly gives each element 3 children (image+text1+text2) instead of 2 (image+text). Even though I've added the third child correctly in the xml, I can't seem to get it to work at all. Here is what I did with the actionscript:

how to add a sort of timer for the slideshow...one that counts down from fx 6 seconds to 0 every time a new image in the slideshow appears. something with a variable and a text area...but how to make the count down follow the image delay...i really would like to know if this is possible.

I have been trying to make four buttons on the bottom of the kirupa xml slideshow. I am trying to write a function that states on release advance to slide #? I was trying to use a similar function to:

There are four images that are dynamically linked. The function is not recognizing that the image is p=1. Do I need to do something like total-3 or something.

I'm using the auto slideshow with xml that you guys demo on your site (which I love BTW) -I need it to stop at the end of the last slide and the demo is set up for it to loop -It looks I need to alter the parse command but I don't know how to do that - Is there an explanation on the site of how to alter the AS so the slide show will end after it runs once through all the images?

i have an xml driven photogallery with thumbs and the slideshow starts automatically and is cross fading and it has a next/play/pause/for buttons. Everything is fine but i don't like the way the thumbs scroller operates, it's way to mechanical and i would love to add an easing effect to it. So I'm having some trouble modifying this script. I have a text box so a user can go to a certain image (In my case page). So if the user type 5 it should go to image 5I've tried numerous methods, none of which are working (they work but then my next and previous buttons aren't working properly). I know I need to just get go to the number image in the array but the way the script is set up it seems I would have to change the current position value but that doesn't seem to be the case.Am I over complicating this?

I have created a pie preloader(preloader.zip) which is working fine. Same preloader I am trying to incorporate in a xml based slideshow(slideshow.zip) to show image loading process but some how I got stuck. I am new to flash. Suggestions are welcome.
1. How to solve the problem of preloader2. Is it possible to integrate everything in a movie clip (including AS). I mean no AS on main time line but inside the movie clip. It would be much easier then to to create multiple slideshows by duplicating mc and changing the xml file.

I have followed Kirupa's XML Image Gallery tutorial. Before you ask, I have double checked my code. When I hit command+enter (mac) to preview it, everything works just fine. XML loads the correct images. My problem is when I publish it and upload it via FTP to my web server, ONLY the first image displays. When I click the next button, the first image fades out, but then it fades back in. The captions and image numbers change (like they're supposed to), but the image does not.
It remains on the first image. I know that it is able to access the XML because it loads the first image specified in the XML. That image was never imported into the Flash document. I have double checked my paths, too. All of the paths are correct. Also, I'm sure that it's not accessing a local file, because for each path, I specify the full URL, such as "[URL]", rather than just "/images/image.jpg". What do I need to do to fix this? You can see what I'm talking about by going to [URL] and clicking on "photo+art".

I have spent some time looking at the Kirupa XML gallery with the thumb navigaition sliderOne problem emerge when i use different sized images (same height, different widths).If one thumbnail is half the width of the others, that thumbnail will be placed directly on top of one of the others. Furthermore if the "large" image also is half the width of the others (which it also is here) it'll get placed starting from the left and have a gray background where there is no image (which makes sense since the background is grey in the .fla).My question is: how i can get the gallery to display all thumbnails with the same spacing between them no matter what width they have (in my case they will all have same height). And if a thumbnail is not as large as the "default size"(for example 67 in height and 100 in width) is it possible to center that image in the "large image" display?

I am trying to modify the Kirupa image gallery to use numbers in place of thumbnails.So far I have been able to place buttons on the stage using attachMovie()and I have been successful in getting them numbered properly. Where I am failing is in getting the individually placed buttons to load an image.A more detailed list of what I am trying to do:
I want to attach a button that has a text box to the stage.In that button�s text box I want a sequential number to appear.When a button is pressed I want the corresponding image to display(button 1 loads image 1).I have the first two working; not doing so well with the last.Here is what I have:

I'm trying to customize the flash slide show from the "Slideshow Using XML and Flash" tutorial and have a question when it comes to centering the images.
My pictures are all either 210px wide or 160px high and the area where the pictures are to be displayed is 210x160. The pictures are down-scaled versions of bigger pictures with different size, meaning that some could be 210x160 while others may be 90x160 or 210x40.
The problem here is that each picture is loaded at the same position (x,y) as globally defined (I've adjusted this to top left by setting x=0 and y=0 in the actionscript part). This obviously doesn't look to good for a picture that is 210x50 as it does for a image which is 210x160 and fills the entire display area.
So, is there any way to center the pictures when they're loaded?

Description: HTML page containing MC1 and MC2. MC1 has container MC-C inside and MC2 has button with AS ... loadMovie ("MC3.swf", _root.MC1.MC-C") Problem: when I hit the button nothing happens When I assigned this script to a button inside MC1 (excludeing "MC1." from target value) than it works. Would anyone know how should my target value look like to achieve desired load into container within MC1?? conditions: (MCs 1,2,3 are in same folder, with correct instance names, have tryed few variations but no success)
Q2: Kirupa's Image Pan - is there any way how to integrate whole thing inside another MC without messing it up like me?? Cause I have noticed that it is fixed to "stage.width" and stage of the MC I wanted to plece it is a bit different.

created in flash. The issue i am having is when an image is loaded it always appears on the left handside attached to the top left point of the stage. Is there anyway i can get these images to load in the centre of the stage? This is the AS that is attached to my flash document.

I have am trying to establish the center of the imags that load so that I can put them in the center of the stage. I am doing this as each image is a different size.
Here is the code i have gotten to work before but its not working now and I have been searching to find what I have done wrong with no luck. : ( Would you look it over and maybe you will see what I am doing wrong?

and I tried doing all of the above by inserting the loader into a sprite and then applying the code to the sprite and then adding that sprite to another sprite and putting that at 640 and not inserting it in another sprite and trying to straight up put the existing sprite at 640 (hopefully that all makes sense). And I have tried to put it to width/3 and nothing different happens.
