ActionScript 2.0 :: Loading 5 Lots Of Randomly Chosen Xml Into An Array?
Aug 19, 2011
I want to create an array of loaded xml for the following:
ActionScript Code:
var xmlQuestions:XML = new XML();
System.useCodepage = true;
[Code].....
What I want to achieve is so I can load 5 different xmls and place them into an array. All 5 random xmls will be placed in an array then I wish to trace them
I've managed to get a sensor attached to an arduino talking to flash using something called AS3glue. it works, when i set up a trace("leaf") for the contition that the sensor reads 0, i get a printout of the word "leaf". however i want the program to make a graphic appear on the screen when this condition is met, not just trace something.
I'm trying to get the program to generate a library object called "Enemy" on the screen at a random position each time the conditions are met. It's called enemy because I was following a game tutorial...actually it's a drawing of a leaf. Here's the bit of the code which is causing me problems:
I am trying, with this code, to first, shuffle the order of the images in the array so their loading sequence is never the same when the page is reloaded.Then, im trying to have the shuffled array open one at a time, image by image, at a set interval.
Code: Array.prototype.shuffle = function() { for (i=0; i<this.length; i++) {
I have typical situation where big loop is loading lots of images and its done asynchronous which make browser to frees during loading and I want to make it synchronous but having big trouble doing it. I found this class synchronous loader and it work great but you cant add mouse event listener to loader. Here is sample code:
Here is my code to generate random names: function GenerateName() { names = new Array("Dean","Brian","Erik","John"); numberofnames = names.length; generator = random(numberofnames); equals = names[generator]; trace(equals); trace(names); } GenerateName(); How can i make it so that it deletes the random name that it choose from the arrays???
I'm having a hell of a time optimizing my loading sequence for a gallery site I'm working on. This is the way it works:
1. I load and parse an XML containing the URLs to the thumbs and large versions of the photos. - This step is fast and works the way I want.
2. I load the thumbnails in sequence jumping back and forth between two functions - one initiating loading of a thumb, and the other the event handler for that particular thumb which iterates a value, and then calls the initiating function again. I suspect this is where the major slow down happens.
3. When the iterating value has reached the same number as the number of URLs to load, the class dispatches a complete event, and all is well - except so much time has passed that no one will ever have waited to see the content ...
URL...that has videos in the work section (click work, then the tv icon or the radio icon at the bottom of the page) that will randomly not load.THe weird thing is that the files have never moved, and yet, the same computer on the same ISP using the same browser that could view the videos 2 days prior, suddenly cannot.I'm also having an issue where the flash won't even load on startup randomly.This had happened one time in the past, and I took the page from a test area of the site and put it live, and it solved the problem. So my last ditch plan z is to make a mirror to link to in case the videos aren't loading for a user.
the code below loads only the second member of the "koan" array. why it isn't randomly loading swfs? (Could it be a problem with the "var index"?...when it is changed manually in the code from 0 to another number the swf played does change; but still not randomly.)
I have an issue where I would like to remove a sprite randomly in AS3, I have managed to figure out how to create the sprites so that they fill as a grid, just for the life of me I can't figure out how to remove them!Here's the code i've used to create them:
function showpixels() : void { for (var i:int = 0; i < 40; i++)
I am trying to write a function that is passed an array and will then reorder it randomly and return the array. My problem is that as the position is generated randomly I dont know how long the loop must run for, this function doesn't work but it should give you an idea of what I'm trying to do:
[AS] function randomise(the_ar:Array):Array { var ret_ar:Array = new Array(); for (i=0; i<200; i++) {
How can I make my Array to return a randomly value? I want AirUnit to return a value between 1 and 3. I want LandUnit to return a value between 4 and 6. I want WaterUnit to return a value between 7 and 9.
is it possible to have an array of words, and then, with another set of code, to have those words randomly animating (perhaps from the distance, to closer up, like a zooming non-blurred effect) on the stage?
I understand how Math.random works, and I understand how Arrays work, but I don't understand how to either rearrange the indices of an existing Array, or how to populate it from another Array in a random sequence without an index possibly repeating.
Ok what i want to do is to randomly pick 3 values from an array called Objs and add them to a new array called ListObjs. The three values should be unique. This is the code I have so far, but when i try to execute it Flash stops responding.
My site loads a .swf into a blank movie clip when the site loads.target.loadMovie("coachGameDay.swf");
When a viewer loads the site again, I want a different .swf to load. Or if I hit the refresh button on the browser, I want different .swf to load. Giving it the appearance of .swfs loading randomly.
I'm would like to use the UILoader to randomly load an image from an array according to the day of the week. The attached FLA file is in AS2, it is exactly what I would like to do but now in AS3. I've been able to successfully trace the date using:
var today_date:Date = new Date();var dayOfWeek = today_date.getDay();trace(today_date.getDay());
In AS2 I used this the loadMovie function to randomly display SWF's in the movieClip. From what I can tell loadMovie is not an option in AS3 making me think that using the UILoader may be a good solution.This is what my code looks like in AS2 (also attached the FLA file):
loadShow = function() { var today_date:Date = new Date();var dayOfWeek = today_date.getDay();trace(today_date.getDay());[code]....
Is there some basic AS3 code to have, when the swf loads, a single video play from a collection of videos in an array? And can said code also apply to sound without video?I just found out the tutorial I was using to randomize doesn't work with audio - as it just plays everything at once - you might 'see' one video - but you hear all them. So from what I am reading, I need to us an array (that seems simple enough), but I don't want to play all the clips - I want it to randomly select and play one. Not sure exactly how I set up the video playback area (so the video plays where I want, at the size I want).Also, I have other pages that are just audio - does audio need some sort of player or something for this?
i can now load my movies randomly.however new problemo. they load half way down the page, so i only see the left corner edge. This seems like a registration problem?
I want to make a navigation bar that loads image buttons randomly. Ex: (you can see the non-random version at the bottom of the page onI have 5 slots. I want to randomly load an external swf into an empty button in each of the slots. I do not want the same button to load in more than one slot. I'm thinking I need to use arrays? (which I don't know too much about.) Can anyone point me to a useful tutorial?
I am currently trying to load a movie clip in the main SWF. Got that done.Then call and replace the first movie clip with another, got that done too.This is for a menu i am making, I am not too great in action script. I am working in AS2.Problem is after I call the second external movie clip into the main SWF, it all stops working.Is there a way I set this up that no matter what it keeps loading and unloading the external movie clips? This is what I have so far.[code]This starts with the "king_menu.swf" already loaded, i have it unload it and load "dqueen_menu.swf" to the call point named "load_king".I am guessing I need to have a universal call point for all my external movies to load and work in a random chain.
I have a FLA site built in AS2 that once you get to the home page it plays one song and only one song. If I want to set up so that when the user clicks back to the home page from anywhere else in the site it plays a different random song (there are 8 total).
So in other words when you initially land on the home page it will play Song 1 every time. But when you click back to the home page from anywhere else on the site, it randomly plays the 1 of the 8.
I have it so that Song 1 plays every time initially but I don't know how to set it up in AS2 to have it randomly play songs when you click back to the home page from deeper in the site.
problem with loading images randomly and putting them in the right _x and _y coordinates.I have a swf file with in the first frame a button with this code :
I am trying to create a movie clip that loops and on each loop it loads a random little .jpg banner from a directory. The banners are named 0.jpg, 1.jpg and so on, a script on the first frame of the loop saying
"Bannernumber" is a variable from an external text file specifying how many random numbers to cycle through (how many banners). This works just fine and loads up a new banner after each loop cycle. The problem lies in trying to make each banner go to its own url, I have another external text document with variables "click0=url, click1=url etc"
Where I want the number in each variable to equal the random number variable in flash, then use an on(release){getURL(urlvariable)}
Function to have it retrieve the url that is somehow in the url variable. Basically, how would I make the urlvariable be equal to the "click0" variable to get the url of the click0 variable into the getURL function? While having the number in the "click0" variable be equal to the random num variable? If I'm going about the random banner thing completely wrong.
