I have been searching other threads and found another similar question, but the code did not work in my animation.
I am trying to make a button disappear after it has been clicked so that the animation underneath of it will be viewable.
I am new to action script, please help! I have three buttons and when you click on them, new content appears. However, I'd like to make it so that when you click on a button, the content on the screen will reverse itself, disappear, and the new content for that button would appear. I don't know how to do this with action script? What kind of action script could I use?

I am making a few language flash cards in adobe flash cs5 with as3. the flashcard is a movie clip and when you push a button (located on the bottom left hand corner of the flashcard) the movie clip flips the card to give the translation. it looks a little unprofessional to have the button stay in place while the card flips. is there a way to make the button disappear for the duration of the movie clip, and then reappear at the end?
View 6 RepliesI'm trying to develop a menu with slider, similar to the one on the kirupa tutorial section except I have set the slider bar to start off the page so you don't actually see it until you roll over the buttons, then it slides into place.. works perfectly. My question is: how do I make the sliding bar disappear after you roll off the button? Am I permitted to post the flash swf file for you to see what I am doing?

The file is setup to loop between frames 2-3. But the sockcircle_btn never enables even when sock_btn is clicked.
I have a simple question for someone --Im very new at Flash. I have a box and 3 different colored buttons at the left. When a person clicks the red button the box turns red, green button turns the box green, etc. My question is I would like the text color of the box to appear under the box according to what button they press. Here is my code to turn the box red. What line would i add to have the word Red show up under the box when the red button is clicked. Do I type the word Red and make it a movie clip? Then what?

This is hard to explain. Basically the user needs to choose their sex and type in their name then press the continue button. The gender selection is a bathroom identificationesque picture of a girl and boy. The boy is blue and the girl is pink. When you roll over the boy, it becomes a lighter blue and when you roll over the girl it becomes a lighter boy.
What I don't know how to do is that when you click on the boy, it stays a lighter blue, and lighter pink for the girl. That way they can see what selection they made. Also, when you click the boy then click the girl, the girl will become highlighted and the boy no longer will be (so you can only choose one gender). How do I do this? And how do I tell the program to store the info for later use? (when gender is important). I know that this type of action is used often in games so hopefully someone can help me.
For my Prototyping class I have to make an interactive fast food ordering system. I have majority of frames made I just need to add the interactive part to it. I am using AS2 in Flash CS3. I have the picture and the text grouped and are classified as a button. I want to make it so that when the picture or text is clicked it will make a black box appear around it, making it 'selected'. I've tried to add an Event Listener but couldn't figure out how to make the box appear on it.

For my newspaper i am creating each page has a next button and a previous button. I have assigned the previous button on one page to attach the movie of the page previous to it and then tested my movie. However when i click the previous button the movieclip does load but loads behind the starting moveiclip. So what i want to do is when the previous button is cliked, that page (movieclip) with the previous button on its dissappears and the previous page loads.

In one scene I have provided him with a photo-gallery, where some 30 photos are placed randomly ...when playing the movie (published as projector) user will click any photo to watch it. For this I have used swapdepth so that photo, user clicks comes to front. Also applied drag to all these photos.
My code look something like this:

For doing this first I converted the photo to button ...then converted this button to a movie clip and gave a instance name to this. Then I went into the movie clip and applied the above code to the button placed inside the movie. Applying all this to all photos I placed them randomly on timeline. The problem is : code is working fine, it is dragging photos, bringing them to front etc. But I have user to go back and play another scene to continue the presentation. Problem starts here, the last photo clicked by user remains there, even though it is not present in that scene.
i have a menu, that works with a xml file.the xml has the specific code that triggers the .as file:[code]when i press the button home for example, the home will load...then i press the button about, and it loads as well, but the home still playing on the back.how do i make the content for home to disapear when another button is clicked? because the code works for all the buttons, it has to be something generic that would work for the event of anybutton being clicked.

View 13 RepliesI'm aware this sounds quite involved, but would it be possible to make a Flash button counter that would store the number of clicks (that it displays) on a remote server; so even if the page was closed and re-opened it would still show "2" or "11" for example. In addition to that, would it be possible to only allow one click per IP address? So for example, one specific IP address (user) couldn't keep clicking it over and over and increasing the number.
The reason I wanted to use a Flash object as opposed to something like jQuery was because I want to embed it on a forum that isn't mine. Obviously I don't have access to the site's files/modules etc. Essentially it's almost like the Facebook "like button." It displays the number of likes, as well is storing the value on a remote server.

I can't believe how impossible it has been to find info about this. I'm sort of a beginner with actionscript, but this shouldn't be as hard as I'm finding it to be.
I'm using AS2. I have an ordinary FLV video playing with one of the skins that comes with the Flash software (CS3). That all works perfectly fine. What I need to do, however, is add a large "PLAY" button over top of the movie. I have made that work also. But, I need the button to disappear when the movie starts playing, because it is obviously in the way and making it hard to view the video.
Some forums suggested making that button disappear when it is clicked. That would be fine, except that the video player skin also has a play button, and if someone clicks that button instead of my new large button, I still need the large button to disappear.
So what I'm trying to figure out how to do is something like: if the FLV is playing, make this object (the button) disappear or become invisible. This can't be that difficult!
