I know theres a tut on this site that shows you how to make page transitions with external files, but how can you do the same but internal. my site isnt that big and doesnt need exernal swfs so i was wondering how to make that same exact page transition, but internal.
View 3 Replieshow to do this and it works to a certain degree. i have the main choices which then lead to a submenu which is an external swf, then the buttons located in these submenus load other swf's as content. for one section i want to experiment with transitions. i cant get the outro portion to work. the swf loads the way it supposed to but when i load the next swf the other one simply disappears. theres 2 empty movieclips in which the submenu's and content that get load into. for the buttons its _root.whole.buttons and _root.whole.main for the content.

My problem is this, I need to load in external swf files into an empty movie clip on the main stage called container. These External SWF files have transitions and this is where my problem is. If I place a normal button on the stage it works but not if the button is inside a movie clip and has actions applied as above. The code next is what I have believe should also be placed on the button to make swf transition one load in.

Obviously a similar code would be placed on button two so the transitions could take place.I am uploading my file so you can see exactly what I am talking about. I'm working on making a pretty chunky game engine for games I plan on making, but I was wondering if you make external AS files unopenable such as .lib files, so that if I give it to a friend that wants to use it, he/she cannot change my code. Is there anyway to make external AS files unopenable? Also, obfuscation isn't an option for this problem as it only stops the people who hack the finished product, not stopping people who have access to the actual files.
View 2 RepliesI have two external swf files which I need to load to the main page of the website, one is the about page which consist mostly of text, the other is an image gallery.Both of them have the same intro animation at the beginning.
My problem is, while testing the main page using bandwidth profiler, the about page loads beautifully, while the image gallery plays its animation first before it even finalizes to load the whole page.
I have a home page in that their are 4 buttons which lead to 4 different pages, I essentially need mine to be able to click on a button and then have it go to that page, oh and Im working with Flash CS4 in AS3
View 1 RepliesI'm using tweens as transitions from one page to another, and to stop them from getting in the way I need them completely off the page. That takes three seconds, and everything else takes one. But if you click on another link before the three seconds are up the new tween disappears. Is there any way to stop this from happening?

I was just wondering if there was a simple way to make external code files in actionscript 1.0 and then call the files into your program with a simple line of code like you can in the newer versions of actionscript.

how do transitions from page to page and from frame to frame all in on site, and i'm lost in the codes this is an exemple that i did in attachment, i want to be able to click in the different buttons bur a lot of thinks do not work. In the portfolio section i create a move clip that works well alone, bur when i integrate it with the home intro it didn't work properly. Hope that someone will be able to help me on that one, cause i think that this will help me a lot to understnad the basic transitions with buttons (frame to frame and page to page).

Ive just finished the foundations on my flash site.. each button directs to each area etc etc.The way I have structured my buttons is as follow,[code]so basically if I click on a button Im not at already, the elements from the current section are removed from the stage and im directed to the new section.This works fine for simple objects like shapes and text but some of my sections have custom scrollers and functions and this is where I've run into some errors.If I remove from stage and set to null like I've been doing, everything still works fine, but my output window complains off null object references ? If I remove from the stage but dont set to null my functions stop working and I get an error stating the displayobject must be a child of the caller ?

View 6 RepliesI'm trying to create a flash website where when you click on one page the background becomes darker and as you're about to click on another page the background becomes lighter again but if you want to go back to the previous page the background goes back to being darker. I hope this is clear. I've been trying to find a tutorial on this but I'm not sure if I'm using the correct terms, which is why I'm having no luck.
View 6 Repliesmy preloader starts at 55 percent. this is because the first frame (if i can trust the bandwidth-profiler) has a size of 32 kb. i think this is strange, because the b-profiler also tells me the film has a total size of 35 kb. after the first preloader frames are some small files with transitions only, and then there is the main frame, which has a size of 18 kb my preloaderframe only contains a small bar and a dynamic textfield, just like the tutorial says... i ve already searched the forums, i found that quite many people have the same problem, but i didnt find any solution... i do not load any swfs dynamically. the only thing i can imagine that could cause that problem is the embed font which i use for the dynamic textfield in the preloader. is that possible?

So as a good and ordonate guy that I am, I put the index.html in the root, created a style folder for the style and a folder for the swfs. I was struggling about one hour to find out why it wouldn't work, to find out that if I move the html inside with the swfs, being in the same directory, it worked fine!
View 3 RepliesI am using Flash CS3 AS2 I have a main movie into which several external swfs are loaded. Two of these swfs are left_menu and middle_menu. I would like these to be able to talk to each other. When the 'home' button is pressed on 'left menu' I would like 'middle_menu' to go to a certain frame and play out. i was also wondering if it's possible to make transitions with masks using actionscript?i have section headers that i want to transition when certain buttons are clicked, and depending on what button is clicked, a new section header is shown. i put all the section headers in a movie clip, with different frame names, so when the button is clicked, it jumps to the different frame name of the movie clip.for the transition, i basically want a wipe left to reveal the section header.. and a wipe right to hide it... and to do this, i figure i'd need to mask...
so i put a mask over the movie clip and realized that flash doesn't mask movie clips very well, when using masking layers.. so it doesn't really work properly.is there a way to do this using actionscript? and if so, how? i know flash know has a setmask property for movieclips..but can you modify the mask property's size??
I've worked on this for a week with no success. I have a main index.swf with a nav menu loading external swfs into a movieclip for each section. I would like to simply fade out the loaded swfs into the new one, in the same moviclip. I don't know if this is possible because upon loading the new swf's they wipe away the loaded swf completely. I've tried
contentLoaderInfo.addEventListener(Event.COMPLETE, loadProdComplete); event listeners to make the loaded swf fade after the new one is completed but same deal, the loaded swf is wiped clean and I can't get a fade transition between the two. My code:

I need to modify the code however to suit the need of the current site I am working on. My site contains background images ans a button loads an external swf in an empty movie clip ontop of these images. The cliemt would like the end user to have the option of collapsing the box that is laoded to allow the full backgroung image to be seen. I am having troubles modifying the script. Any suggestions? View 2 RepliesGreat tutorial, works excellent. My only issue is how to do this on multiple levels? I'm trying to get an external swf open within an external swf. I know this probably isn't necessary but it does keep the site easily managed and very dynamic. It works on the main swf, and if i test it on the the linked page it works as well, just not together. I orginally thought that maybe it was the conflicting container names/variables so I made sure to change those. Maybe the solution would be to use a common container?

I am using this scripting for my website. [URL] I have used it on other websites successfully, but the website I'm working on now is a little more complicated and the scripting is not working correctly.
Before I had simple buttons on the root level, but now I have complex rollover buttons in side movieclips playing on the root level. When I go to test the site in Flash 8, it works fine, but then when i publish the files and open it in a browser, it is not loading the external swfs into the main swf. All the files are in the same folder as the main swf and I am not using any other folders. attaching and transitioning of external swfs?
implemented the swfaddress script [URL].. or something similar that they would be willing to share???
