Im making a Flash site for class and I have a button made for the user to download a jpeg. The site isn't online. How do I link the button to the jpeg so when the user clicks it they can download it? Is it possible to make sure the download button works before it is uploaded online?

View 1 Repliesi can only find info on this using AS3.i, however, am still using AS2.i need to create a button that a user can click to download an MP3.the only thing i could think to do was use a getURL, but when i do that, it opens the MP3 file and starts playing it in the browser. i need it to open a "Save As" dialogue, instead. I'm totally stuck on this one.the MP3 for download is located in a folder called "music" (music/A.mp3)

I want to download files from the server side to client side without prompting a window to the user to download when any updates happen at server side.Right now I am using urlstream class but first file is downloading completely rest of the files contents downloading partially.

I have a 3d model of a village created in 3DS Max, and I want to know what is the procedure for me to get it into Flash?The reason for this is because I want to use AS3 to make the user be able to fly through the village by clicking a button. Like for example, when the user clicks a button named "Water" the view(camera) flies through to the village's Lake. Then when he/she clicks "Houses" it goes maybe to a hut. And again if he/she clicks "Water" it will go to the lake using the same path it took.
There is only one defined path that the camera can go through, and that path have locations where the camera can stop depending on which button is clicked ("Water" stops at the lake, "Houses" stops at the hut, etc.)
I made this simple AS3 game that generates a random amount of stars on the stage. The user has to count the number of stars, punch that number into the input box and hit submit.The problem is that if the user wants to play again, he/she will have to go through the hassle of closing and re-opening game. That's why i'm now wondering how to make a reset button that re-generates the stars for the user to count again.URL...

I am using uploadify which uses a flash uploader. If the user doesn't have flash installed nothing shows except a blank white page.point me in the right direction of some code to prompt the user to download flash, similar to a <noscript> coding.

We have a custom flash video player. It uses streaming over a hosted FMS $50/month account.Some users are complaining that the video doesn't play at all.ith one of these users, we had them go to a speed test website and it was determined that they had a very slow connection which we are assuming is what is causing them to not be able view the video.So before we try to load the video we want to determine their connection speed. Then if they have a good enough connection we will play the video and if not then we will do something else like play a lower quality video or simply display a message and not play a video at all.

View 3 Repliesi am working on a survey form in MX-04 Pro. I have the main .swf file embedded in an HTML page. The document's width is longer than the viewable screen so the person taking the survey has to scroll down to answer the remaing questions and hit the "continue" button to proceed to the next page/frame in the movie. When the user hits the "continue" button the next frame in the movie appears but the HTML page is still scrolled to the bottom. Is there any ActionScript I can inclued in the frame or continue button to make the movie/survey appear at the top of the html page when the user hits the "continue" button?#2
Is it possible to make the items in a List component sort randmoly? or maybe alternate between "ASC" & "DESC" order? Furthermore, there would be an "Other" option included in my list but I would like that to remain at the bottom of the list while the other items in the list were sorted randomly?
I do have a problem to make jpeg images random in a swf movie.
I have found a tutorial which explains people to apple a single line of code:
imagenes_mc.loadMovie("ima00" + (1+random(5)) + ".jpg");
to the first frame of the movie which contains an empty mc "imagenes_mc" which should load a diferent JPEG each time someone gets into the website.
Thing is: ON my published swf nothing happens with that code and on the output windown i get "1120: Acess of undefined property mages_mc" and also "1180: Call to a possible undefined method random"
When i stretch a jpeg in flash 5 to make it look big it looks heavily pixilated , how can make it look like it was in it's original position?
View 8 RepliesCurrently I have retangular jpegs that are converted to linked buttons. The reason I made these buttons as jpegs is b/c I wanted to use this really cool font that most computers wouldn't readily have. Its working just fine but I wish to have a underline effect when the mouse is rolled over. I looked under the properties of the button but it does not have that option...is it possible to do that in the timeline?
Should I replace that non-underlined button with a jpeg that's been underlined when the keyframe is in the over position? I am using both dreamweaver and flash for the first time; all my content is a single flash swf file inside a box that is centered in the page in dreamweaver.

Basically I have designed a flash interface which puts a moustache over the users face in real time. My lecturer has told me to add a button which will take a capture of the image of the person with the moustace and add the image to a folder.

I have three buttons, which when clicked load an external file into a movie clip called container. The first jpeg (1.jpg) is loaded into the container when the movie loads and the thumbnail buttons have the files t2.jpg, t3.jpg and t4.jpg loaded. When these are clicked they load 2,3 and 4.jpg respectively into the container. The problem is that I can only have 3 buttons but need to display 4 images. So I want the image that is loaded into the container to swap with the one that is in the button. I can't find any code, either on this forum or on the web, that retrieves the name of a file that is loaded into a movie clip.This is what I need.
Because all the images are named 1,2,3 or 4.jpg and the thumbnails for the buttons are t1,t2,t3 or t4.jpg I should be able to easily write the additional code to change what happens when the button is clicked, because when the picture on the button has changed to what was loaded into the container, the on(Release) code will need to change too.
I have a problem with a dynamic video player that I have created in flash. The video player is "SCORM" compliant so that when the user clicks the "exit" button a class file is called to mark the user complete in an LMS.I have tested the SCORM Code previously and it works with out issue. Usually I have the completion code embedded in an Actions Layer of the movie. This is the first time I have attempted to call the completion status in a class file, I have added a "trace statement" when the movie is tested within flash it runs the trace statement properly, but when uploaded to the LMS environment the course does not complete properly
