ActionScript 2.0 :: Menu System With Repeling Buttons?

Apr 26, 2006

I have a menu system at the top of the screen with 4 tabs - they look like the tabs on a filing system. When a tab is clicked it should enlarge slightly to show that it has come to the front and push the other tabs away from it so the layout is kept intact and nothing is overlapped.

The left-hand edge of the farthest-left tab should always be in the same place - that tab can only expand to the right. I have a rough idea about how to go about this but it's all on the very frontiers of my knowledge and i know it's got some maths in there.

I can supply images but there's not really any code as yet because i don't really know where to begin.

Heres the site i made [URL] I now have to create a new site but i dont want a repeat of last time. The issue i have is that for each of the buttons i would tell it on(release) to go and chech what frame each one of the other buttons was on and if any were not in their "Off" mode it would tell it to play from a lable within the button movieclip as well as tell the text relating to it to fade away. NOW Ive tried doing this as a function in the new project but its not working no matter what i do.

ActionScript 3.0 :: Create A Menu System Of Mc Thumbnails?

Nov 21, 2009

I need to create a rather detailed menu system that will load thumbnails of movie clips that I can then double-click on and it will load them into the display list of another movie clip.

I think I can code the loading part but I've never dealt with creating flash menus before and don't have any help in the 5 as3 books I own.

Is there a way I can make the menu generate the thumbs from an external file that I can just update when I need to instead of editing the flash file?

As you can probably guess i am making a rotated menu system. It all works fine except the code above.Basically what happens is that when I click the "MUSIC" button, then the "HISTORY" button, then to the "MUSIC" button and finally the "HISTORY" button, it seems to do the opposite clockwise direction to what it did the first time i click on it.....

ActionScript 3.0 :: Menu System - Dynamic Text On Button

Oct 9, 2009

I'm trying to create a menu system and I've created a "Button" with a dynamic text field on it. I'd like to set the text of the button when I add it to the stage but I'm having some troubles. Does this work differently then a dynamic text field on a movie clip? I've done it successfully on a movie clip.

var test; test = new menu_item();
stage.addChild(test); test.x = 610; test.y = 100;
test.menuText.text = "Hello World";

I get this error message in my output window...
TypeError: Error #1010: A term is undefined and has no properties.

ActionScript 2.0 :: Buttons Within Movie Clip - Sub-menu Won't Stay Open In Order To Click On Buttons In It

Jul 25, 2007

I am creating a navigation bar in Flash (which will then be used in Dreamweaver). When you mouse over each topic in menu (ex. Products), i want it play a movie clip (so it shoots out a sub-menu underneath). so far so good, but the only thing is, the sub-menu won't stay open in order for me to click on buttons in it. For each button, I assigned it the Behavior to go to a url. Also, I tested the buttons within the mc and they don't seem to direct me to url. do you think maybe it's because it's nested within the movie clip?? Is there an easier way to go about this?

ActionScript 1/2 :: Make A Menu That Has OnRelease Buttons On Top Of OnRollover Buttons

Mar 20, 2011

I'm trying to make a menu that has onRelease buttons on top of onRollover buttons (the onReleases are on a separate layer from the onRollovers). The onRelease buttons take the user to different urls, and the onRollover buttons are supposed to allow different parts of the menu to appear.

The onRelease buttons work fine, but I can't get the onRollover buttons to work consistently. Sometimes the onRollover buttons will correctly advance to a different frame, and sometimes they "stick" and do not advance. The script has no errors and I've tried changing the sizes of the onRollover buttons (in case they were too large and the cursor was hovering over more than 1 at the same time), changing the order of the code for the onRelease and onRollover commands (in case the onRollovers were being superseded by the onRelease commands), and countless variations of the layers and frames.

I'm sure that you'll want to see the script, but I don't think that pasting it all on this post would be reasonable? So I've put the .fla and the .swf on this page for reference: [URL]

When the user clicks or rolls back to any of the original 5 buttons, that subnav closes up.Does anyone know of a good tutorial for this type of nav or have anything I might be able to dissect and work from?

ActionScript 1/2 :: Buttons And Dropdown Menu - Roll Be Able To Select Anything From The Dropdown Menu?

May 7, 2009

I'm creating a webpage, and I have made some buttons.Image 1 is the homepage, which is frame 1 in Flash.Image 2 shows that when I rollover the button "Portfolio,"I get a dropdown menu.I have this set as frame 3 in Flash.Image 3 shows that I've gone down the dropdown menu and rolled over "Photography." But if I rollout of any of the things from the dropdown menu, it stays at Image 2 (Frame 3)with the dropdown menu visible. Which is a problem...I want to be able to rollout of these buttons to revert back to the homepage, Image 1 (Frame 1).But, for instance, telling "Graphic Design" to go to Frame 1 on rollout means that if I try to go below "Graphic Design" to "Photography," I've rolled out--and so the rest of the menu disappears.So I want to roll be able to select anything from the dropdown menu, and only rollout to Frame 1 if I go outside the entire dropdown menu, not just one button.

ActionScript 2.0 :: Menu Navigation System - Dropdown Appears And Returns When The Dropdown Returns

Jul 15, 2004

I'm having with a menu navigation system. I'm using Flash MX. I have created a menu system for the site I'm building ([URL]) where one of the buttons "Choose photographer" drops down a list of names. All the other buttons just jump to another page. The drop down is currently using tweens also the logo moves to the left as the dropdown appears and returns when the dropdown returns. All working fine apart from its a bit jerky.

It's I just wanted to get away from tweening and use action scripts instead, as I'm a newbie to all things Flash I trawled the net for tutorials and examples so that I could cobble together the exact same effect. I have managed to get the drop down work and return using the action script and it does seem smoother and works slightly better. But can I get the logo to move to the left and back in time with the drop down...no.

ActionScript 2.0 :: How To Add New Buttons In Menu

Nov 15, 2005

I have an FLA that I want to use for a menu I'm making. Currently, the menu is designed for 4 buttons and it has an indicator that slides along under the buttons to show which button the user is on. My menu needs to have 6 buttons. It should be very simple to add 2 more buttons to this piece, but every time add new buttons, the indicator slides way off to the left when I roll over the new buttons I've added, instead of sliding under them like it does with the original buttons. I've attached the original FLA. How to add new buttons without having this problem?
