ActionScript 2.0 :: One Long Horizontal Movieclip As A Site
Aug 16, 2011
URL...Seems to me like a simple, long movieclip on a relatively intuitive but still pretty simple timeline.I've worked a little in flash before, made this site (oneandabit.co.uk, runs slow, bit blocky etc) but I'm looking to revamp it into something like the yellsite. Can anyone give me a clue as to what goes into this? Is it as simple as it seems? It needs to be seamless.Does anyone know of any nice (simple-esque) tutorials for me to download source files from, so I can figure it out?As usual I've tried kirupa etc but everything I've found is UBER heavy on ridiculous coding which puts me in a bit of a squeeze where it comes to customisation.
My flash site works but takes too long to load. Could you tell me if there are any settings I could adjust to somehow compress the file and shorten the loading time?
I am trying to make a horizontal flash website in AS3. I have my navigation all set up and want it to Tween (slide) to the right for all of my 4 pages. My stage size is 2880w X 600h and I want my X to slide over in increments 720px to the right when the navigation is clicked. I also want it so when I test me SWF that I only see a 720 X 600 px area at a time. So far I have looked up Tweener classes online and they seem very confusing and need to be stripped down a lot.
I'm making a classic horizontal sliding menu flash site, but just can't seem to iron out the last little tweak. How do I get the mouse to not react when over the open section, I've tried 'delete mc3.onRelease;' which works, but then that section will not longer work at all after it's been closed.
I've attached the fla and a link to the beta site as I'm finding it hard to explain exactly what I mean:[URL]..
I'am making a advanced mp3 player arund this tutorial: [URL] and i want the users of the player to see how long they have listen or how long time back of the song. i have the AS i what to use but i cant connect them. becuase the tutorial i used does not make a sound objekt (MUSIC)
I'm trying to play a 10 minute long video (h264/mp4) which is 39MB in size, after I call stream.play(fileURL) it doesn't start playback until its loaded around 12-16MB of the file (many many seconds later), I finally get onMetaData at this point too. Why doesn't it begin playback right away, or at least w/in a couple seconds? What can cause this bloated lead in time?
I have a horizontal scrolling movieclip that scrolls when the mouse is left or right of a certain point of that movieclip. However, it only moves slightly then stops when the cursor goes over it, it doesnt actually scroll normally...
Is there a way to know the speed of a mouse or how long a mouse is over a movieclip?
Coz i have a movieclip that if I rolled over it for a specific period of seconds, it shows a picture but if the movieclip was just passed over a second, it won't show the picture.
I have a movieclip that I am moving behind a mask to achieve a panning effect. I am able to move my movie clip onRollOver and stop onRollOut. So far so good, except that I have no boundaries or margins on my movie clip so when I keep my mouse on my button, my movieclip continues to move indefinitely forever. Can someone please tell me how to set boundaries on the left and right or how to limit the scrolling to an X -1000 and X +1000?
Is there any script available to scroll a movie vertical and horizontally by adding a mask. The visible area can be scrolled vertically and horizontally.
I'm currently learning Flash (CS4, AS3) and am creating a game. I have currently 1 flv file with 4 scenes, I then move from left to right and then to scene 2 and go from left to right. This is the game where items pop up that need to be clicked on and you get points.
Is there any way I can combine these onto 1 scene? Flash only allows you to have a maximum of 2880px wide. The reason for this is the transition between the scenes is RUBBISH and that my AS is not working correctly in between scenes (it loses values).
I'd like to dynamically load thumbnails into a horizontal movieclip at the bottom of an image gallery to then allow me to load an image by clicking the thumbnails. I found a tutorial tooad the thumbnails to the stage but I am not sure how to load them into the thumbs movieclip. Here is the code I am using:
var imageLoader:Loader;var xml:XML;var xmlList:XMLList;var xmlLoader:URLLoader = new URLLoader();xmlLoader.load(new URLRequest("xml/murals.xml")); xmlLoader.addEventListener(Event.COMPLETE, xmlLoaded);
Im in need of a simple code which makes a MovieClip move side to side horizontally preferably using the attachMovie function. The MovieClip must not go off the screen so the movement will have to be limited within the stage size.
Basically, I need it so you click my movie clip with instance name of "bg"and it links to a site.. but it also opens as a new tab (Not a new window, but a tab like in mozilla), or a new window in internet explorer
how do you start movieclip dynamic? like start a movieclip ONTOP of another on like this site.[URL].. Does anyone have a tutorial or something like it ..?
I'm building an all Flash site, and trying to streamline my approach as much as possible. In the site, I have 3 main panes. Navigation, ContentText, and Slideshow.
I want to keep each of these areas self contained, and just call methods to make things happen. Something along these lines: slideshow.showImage, or navigation.loadData("nav.xml") or contentText.loadTextfile("about.txt").
I could make each pane a componant, or a movieClip with methods defined on the first frame, or perhaps I could use classes. I was hoping the more experienced people here might have some advice on what is the best approach to take.
I'm using the addChild function to a movieclip to load up another section on the site. However, everything behind that loaded SWF is still running, meaning sections are constantly stacking and it slows down the more sections you access.I've been trying to think of ways to resolve this and have yet to come up with a decent solution. I've thought of removing the previous swf,but that would would take the swf with it that was loaded as a child. Here's the important bit of my code you should see:
ActionScript Code:var section2Request:URLRequest = new URLRequest("Tracks.swf");var section2Loader:Loader = new Loader ();tracks_mc.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, tracksPage);function tracksPage(event:MouseEvent):void{[code]......
i have made a site in flash. stage size 955x600 i have exported it as fullscreen with no scale. the problem is that if i browse the site with a resolution of 800x600 (760x420 if i'm not wrong), the browser dont' add scrolls and its impossible to see the complete site. How can i fix this without resizing the site. i want the users to see with the proportions that i have now.. ijust want a scroll on the browser.
the flash4 published set of files, with a variety of skins tried, works well on the local drive, even when moved to a different folder structure. when index.html is opened on the remote web site, the browser (firefox3 and ie7) displays the player conrols and a rotating horizontal barber pole, green and black, but no flash video.some of the skins i've used are: SkinOverPlaySeekFullscreen.swf, nOverPlayStopSeekCaptionVol.swf and SkinUnderPlay.swf. all work locally but do not play the .flv file on the web site. no problem playing flv movies on the remote web site if the file set is created by dreamweaver.
Forgive if I am not explaining this very well- here goes. I have one major site with three other gallery sites that are related. From one of the gallery sites I need to create a button that takes you back to a specific page on the major site.
I was wondering if its still necessary to build a html site aswell as a Flash Site? Or is there a definitive and failsafe way to incorporate html into my flash site? SEO is a very important factor for me. I read this article: url...by Geoff Sterns in 2006, resulting in the following[code]
A client of mine has had 2 sites (both Flash sites) attacked over the last 12 months, so he's been asking: should he go for a static HTML site or stick with a Flash site? Is there ways to make a Flash site more secure?
I have some people making a site that uses PHP and mysql. You will be logging in first to the PHP site, but the Flash based component of it requires to use the same log in and password. Do they have to log in twice??????
I am working on a project wherein a long (40-50min) flv plays inside a flash interface. I have a set of buttons that I would like to use to skip to different parts of the video as it plays, this works fine on my local machine using cue points but of course online I cannot jump to sections that have not yet been buffered, I'd like to be able to do this if possible. I'm looking at a couple of options at the moment...1, Use a content delivery network that offers a flash media server, as I believe this will sidestep this issue, however this will cost money that isn't really available for this project.2, Split the long movie file up into chunks and have my navigation buttons load a new flv onClick. If I go for option 2 is there any way of keeping a cumulative progress bar running as if it was all one video.
I have a long timeline based animation, about 23 minutes in full. When I test or publish the movie, the SWF freezes with about one and a half minutes of playback time left. The streaming audio, however, continues to play.I know that the error isn't due to some sort of errant stop action at that point in the animation because I have it broken up into several scenes, and if I test the final scene by itself, it does not freeze and plays back correctly. Also, if I rearrange the scenes, the SWF still freezes about 21 minutes and 20 seconds into the animation, which, after rearranging, corresponds to a different point in the animation.
I've been given a complete soundtrack, about 15 minutes long, complete with background music and dialog.I'm animating the whole thing as once scene so that I can keep all the dialog synced up. My question is, what's the best way to organize my animation? The way I've been doing it, I try to keep my objects on their own layers organized into folders, but even so I end up with a very large and confusing amount of stuff in the layers. But should I just be cutting the soundtrack into scenes and animating the movie using scenes instead?I've never actually used scenes. If I cut the soundtrack how would I avoid audio glitches when the whole animation plays back?
I Have Flash CS4 and a pretty decent system with Vista and 3 GB of RAM. However, whenever I click on anything in Flash, it takes about 3 or 4 seconds for it to become active. If I click a keyframe, the stage won't come up for 3-4 seconds, if I click the text tool, the cross hairs won't come up for 3-4 seconds, etc. It has been like this since I installed it...I am just finally getting my full of it.
